Miss World Organisers React To UK Contestant's 'Prostitute' Comment: 'Left Due To 'Family Issues'
Last Updated:
Milla Magee abruptly dropped out of Miss World after claiming she "felt like a prostitute", but organisers said she left due to a family emergency involving her mother's health.
After Miss England Milla Magee made a sensational comment regarding her abrupt withdrawal from Miss World 2025, claiming that she 'felt like a prostitute", the organisers of the world-famous beauty pageant said she had withdrawn due to a 'reported" family emergency involving her mother's death.
'Earlier this month, Milla Magee requested to leave the competition due to a reported family emergency involving her mother's health. As a mother and grandmother herself, Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of Miss World, responded to Milla's situation with compassion and immediately arranged her return to England, placing the well-being of the contestant and her family first," a statement from the organisers read.
This came after Magee's interview with The Sun went viral, where she disclosed that the organisers of the pageant were exploiting her and making her ' feel like a prostitute '. She called the pageant 'outdated" and 'stuck in the past", and said that the participants were paraded before wealthy male sponsors.
Magee flew to Hyderabad on May 7 for publicity events and withdrew from the contest on May 16 due to what she called personal reasons. 'All the crowns and sashes in the world mean nothing compared to using your voice and making a difference in the world."
Organisers Call Magee's Remarks 'False, Unfounded'
However, Julia Morley said the alleged remarks made by Magee shown in UK media reports are 'false and defamatory". She said, 'These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us."
The Miss World Organisation is now releasing unedited videos recorded during Magee's stay in India, in which she expresses gratitude, joy, and appreciation for the experience. These videos reflect her own words and sentiments, and serve as a direct contradiction to the recent false narratives, the statement said.
Magee won the Miss England pageant last year and was the first plus-size Miss World entrant from England. Her campaign was backed by Prince William. 'But (Miss World) is simply about the way you look and present yourself. As far as I could see it hasn't changed from the 1960s and 70s," she told The Sun.
Magee will be replaced by Miss England runner-up Charlotte Grant, 25, the current Miss Liverpool, in the final of Miss World. Grant arrived in India on Wednesday and has since been warmly welcomed into the Miss World sisterhood.
The Miss World 2025 pageant kicked off with a grand ceremony in Hyderabad on May 10 and the final will be aired in over 180 countries next Saturday.

Video: Zohran Mamdani Gets Awkward As Host Plays His Old Clip In Apron During Live Show
Last Updated: In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. New York Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was taken aback when his 2019 old rap video that showed him wearing an apron without anything underneath, was played during a live interview on global media outlet CNN. This happened when the 33-year-old politician appeared for Erin Burnett OutFront talk show. Show host Erin Burnett played the assemblyman's rap video suddenly. In the video, Zohran Mamdani, along with several others, was seen dancing at various locations, including inside a food truck. The video was posted on YouTube under the name of Mr. Cardamom. In the throwback video, the state assemblyman was joined by his friends and Indian-born British-American actress Madhur Jaffrey. In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. During the conversation, the anchor started playing videos from Mamdani's recent campaigns, including one in which he talked about his birth place and the story about how he got his middle name. As the interview progressed, a snippet from his appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast appeared on the screen. It was followed by Burnett introducing the politician's artistic side and playing the rap clip. As the rap continued, Mamdani, apparently shocked, tried to maintain his composure by smiling. However, eventually, he gave in, saying, 'I didn't think it was going to be on CNN." To which, the host replied, 'It's there and there it is." Later, the video was posted on the official X profile of the Erin Burnett OutFront show with a caption that read, Watch as #NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani watches his past performance as a rapper and responds to critics who say he's not ready to run New York. He speaks one-on-one with @ErinBurnett. Recently, Mamdani faced intense scrutiny from Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles who publicly questioned the legitimacy of his US citizenship, calling for his deportation if it was fraudulently obtained. Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents and immigrated to the United States two decades ago and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018. Since 2020, he has served in the New York State Assembly and recently clinched the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City. Maa Box Office Collection Day 1: Kajol's Horror film Opens With Rs 4 Crore
Last Updated: Kajol returns to the big screen with Maa, a mythological horror thriller directed by Vishal Furia. The film opened with Rs 4.15 crore on its first day. After a three-year break from the big screen, Kajol returned with Maa, a mythological horror thriller directed by Vishal Furia. The Day 1 numbers are finally in. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Maa opened with a respectable Rs 4 crore on its first day. Not bad for a genre that's still pretty niche in Bollywood. As per early estimates, Maa earned Rs 4.15 crore on its opening day. The report also highlights that the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 16.49 per cent on Friday. Morning shows started slow with just 8.23 per cent occupancy, but numbers picked up by the afternoon, reaching 20.08 per cent. The evening shows saw a further boost, clocking in at 21.16 per cent. A part of the review of Maa by News18 read, 'The concept and story have substance, but the film lacked largely because of its style of storytelling. Besides, the film also has a lot of stereotypes that could have been done without. Besides the exaggeration that the palace had a almost 30-feet tall Kali maa's stone carved statue, the way people from Chandrapur talk in the film, everything seems to be a cliche that all the Bengalis would be running away from. It only gets disappointing to see Ronit Roy, who plays a vital part in the film, deliver all his Hindi dialogues with such a heavy Bengali accent. A lot would argue that it is not how people from Bengal speak when they talk in Hindi." In Maa, a mythological horror thriller, Kajol takes on the powerful role of Ambika, a fearless mother who will stop at nothing to protect her daughter from dark, supernatural forces. The film blends myth and mystery, marking Kajol's first foray into the horror genre. Alongside her, the cast includes Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma. Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is backed by producers Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan. First Published: June 28, 2025, 11:20 IST

Kannappa Box Office Collection Day 1: Vishnu Manchu's Film Roars With Rs 9 Crore
Last Updated: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, featuring cameos by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas, earned Rs 9 crore nett across India on its opening day. Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa may not have opened to record-breaking numbers, but it sure made enough noise on day one. Seems like the cameos by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas worked in its favour. The Telugu mythological action drama hit theatres on Friday and, as per early estimates by earned Rs 9 crore nett across India. According to the report, Kannappa saw varied occupancy rates across regions on Friday—16.45 per cent in Tamil, 55.89 per cent in Telugu, 14.56 per cent in Hindi, 13.81 per cent in Kannada, and 7.20 per cent in Malayalam. While the film collected Rs 9 crore on its opening day, it still outperformed Kajol's Maa, which earned Rs 4.50 crore. In fact, Kannappa made nearly double of what Maa did, as per data from Maa also hit theatres on Friday, marking Kajol's much-awaited return to the big screen after a three-year break. Directed by Vishal Furia, the mythological horror thriller is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with Kumar Mangat Pathak serving as co-producer. A review by News18 of Kannappa read, 'The whole sequence and the visual effects are superbly done, an example of how far our cinema has evolved technologically. Back in the day, the same scene would've involved golden cardboard arrows moving at less than 24 frames per second. One arrow would spew fire, the opponent's would quench it with water. If one turned into a snake, the other would become its predator, an eagle. Mukesh Kumar Singh's Kannappa isn't weighed down by such age-old silliness. Here, the fight sequences and visuals look rich. However, if one were to read out the dialogues of Kannappa and any devotional film from the past one after the other, it would be hard to discern which is from 2025 and which is not." Kannappa is a 2025 Indian Telugu-language mythological devotional film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The story, written by Vishnu Manchu—who also plays the titular role—is inspired by the legend of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. The film is produced by veteran actor Mohan Babu and features a star-studded ensemble cast including Preity Mukhundhan, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, and Madhoo in key supporting roles. First Published:
