Religious leaders and seers in Ayodhya have extended support to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's recently launched 'Operation Kalnemi', which is aimed at identifying and taking action against fake sadhus who exploit religion for personal gain.
Hindu Rashtra Sena president Prabodhanand Giri welcomed the move, calling it timely and necessary. He urged the Uttarakhand government to continue the campaign until the Kumbh Mela and take strict action against imposters found misusing the identity of sadhus.
However, he suggested that the operation should officially begin 15 days later, as a large portion of the police force is currently focused on ensuring the safety of Kanwariyas, devotees of Lord Shiva participating in the ongoing Kanwar Yatra.
Prabodhanand Giri proposed a clear method for identifying genuine sadhus. He recommended that authorities should ask individuals claiming to be sadhus for the name of their guru, their Akhara (monastic order), and any proof linking them to an established religious lineage.
He also raised concern over so-called 'jihadists" disguising themselves in saffron robes to deceive and rob people, stating that Operation Kalnemi is essential to protect Uttarakhand and its religious heritage.
Sanjay Das, successor to Gyan Das Maharaj and president of the Sankat Mochan Sena, also supported the move but cautioned that such sensitive actions must be carried out in coordination with the Akharas.
In a post on X, Dhami explained that there have been several reports of imposters pretending to be sadhus and deceiving people, especially women, in the name of Sanatan Dharma. These actions, he said, not only mislead the public but also damage the image of Hindu traditions and social harmony.
'This not only hurts the religious sentiments of people but also tarnishes the image of social harmony and Sanatan tradition. Strict action will be taken against such elements, regardless of their religion," Dhami wrote.
The name 'Operation Kalnemi' is inspired by the demon Kalnemi from Hindu mythology, who took on the appearance of a saint to mislead people. Dhami said such modern-day 'Kalnemis" will face strict legal action, regardless of their religion.
The Chief Minister said the government is determined to protect religious sentiments, ensure public safety, and uphold the dignity of Sanatan culture.

Three Arrested For Allegedly Poisoning School Tanker Water To Get Muslim Principal Transferred

According to SP Bhimashankar Guled, Sagar Patil, the president of the Sri Ram Sene's Savadatti taluk unit, is believed to be the mastermind behind the plot. At least three people were arrested for allegedly poisoning a water tank of a school that left 11 students hospitalised. The incident took place in Belagavi district two weeks back. Sagar Patil, one of the arrested accused, is the president of the Sri Ram Sene's Savadatti taluk unit. The incident happened at a government Kannada primary school in Hulikatti village after toxic chemicals were deliberately added to the school's drinking water, reported TOI. Speaking about the incident, Belagavi Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled told reporters that the accused had planned the act with the intention of targeting the school's headmaster, who is from the Muslim community. The officials in the investigation found that the three accused, identified as Sagar Patil, Krishna Madar and Magangouda Patil, allegedly poisoned the tank as they believed that this would get the headmaster transferred. Meanwhile, the students who fell ill have been discharged from the hospital after being treated, reported TOI. The accused have been sent to judicial custody. According to SP Bhimashankar Guled, Sagar Patil is believed to be the mastermind behind the plot. He reportedly pressured Krishna Madar into participating by threatening to expose his relationship with a girl from a different community. 'This act could have resulted in the massacre of innocent children. It is a terrifying reminder of how religious bigotry and communal hatred can manifest in such inhuman ways," the CM posted on X. The CM took a swipe at the BJP and accused it of contributing to an atmosphere of religious division. 'Will Pramod Mutalik, BY Vijayendra, or R Ashok take responsibility for this? Leaders who support such anti-social elements must come forward and atone for their sins," he said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. French Farmers Perform ‘Poop Patrol' To Keep Unwanted People Away

Around 400 caravans had set up camp on the farmland in Hautes-Vosges, France, without any official permission. Tensions escalated in Hautes-Vosges, France, after a group of farmers took matters into their own hands to remove a large 'illegal gypsy camp" of squatters from their land. With no help from authorities, the farmers responded in their way by spraying slurry across the area. The entire incident was caught on camera and the video is now making rounds on social media. According to a report in The Telegraph, around 400 caravans had set up camp on the farmland at the beginning of July without any official permission. Tractors Spray Sludge In a widely circulated video, farmers can be seen driving tractors around the field. They are spraying a sludgy liquid, which is reportedly a mixture of manure and water called slurry, directly onto the parked caravans and vehicles. A thick stream of brown sludge trails behind each tractor as they circle the camped area. People from the camp can be seen running after the vehicles in an attempt to stop the tractors. One man even manages to jump onto a moving tractor and bang on the window, while another falls while trying to keep up. A car also tries to block the path of a tractor but turns away to avoid the spray. 'We Find Ourselves Alone, Powerless' 'The problem is that we find ourselves alone, powerless. They come back every year. We asked them to leave, but they won't. There have been clashes with the farmers. We understand why they are not happy," Pascal Claude, the mayor of the area, said as quoted by The Telegraph. Local media reports that the squatters, identified as a travelling gypsy community, have returned to the same land multiple times over the years. With no legal support or action from the police, farmers say they felt they had no choice but to act. What People Are Saying Online As the footage gained traction on social media, many users shared their reactions. One user wrote, 'Bruh, how inconsiderate do you have to be to camp on a farmer's field. Like dude, that's their livelihood and you could be at the very least screwing with the soil." Another said, 'Gotta love how the squatters got fully baited into this, running through the poo and even getting it on their cars." 'You are getting rid of them and fertilising at the same time," someone joked while a person simply commented, 'I can smell this video." A Similar Incident Happened In UK Last year, a British farmer named Jack Bellamy used the same method when he found a camper trespassing on his land. He got into his tractor and sprayed slurry on the person.
