Juventus ‘ready to hijack Arsenal and Man Utd move for Viktor Gyokeres' and will sell EIGHT players to finance transfer

JUVENTUS have emerged as a shock candidate to hijack Viktor Gyokeres' transfer to the Premier League, reports suggest.
The Swede is one of the most sought-after strikers on the planet after scoring 97 goals across the last two seasons for Sporting Lisbon and firing them to back-to-back league titles.

With the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United both looking to boost their firepower during the summer, it seemed to have put the Viking on a course for England.
However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Italian giants Juventus want to sign the 27-year-old to make a statement.
The report states Sporting are asking for £60million plus £8m in bonuses to sell Gyokeres, although that contradicts previous rumours indicating his release clause actually sat as high as £85m.
To finance this, the Serie A club have identified EIGHT names they will look to offload this summer to fund their spending spree.

Most notably, this includes Serbia ace Dusan Vlahovic, who scored 15 goals for Juventus last season.
The Bianconeri ranked seventh in the league last season for goals scored, and club chiefs believe Gyokeres can be the solution to their problems.
Another high-profile name on the chopping block is former Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, who ultimately became a squad player following his arrival last summer.
The club want around £51m for the pair, considered surplus to requirements by coach Igot Tudor, who replaced the sacked Thiago Motta in March after just 10 months in charge.

Also in this list is goalkeeper Mattia Perin, defenders Lloyd Kelly and Daniele Rugani, wingers Filip Kostić and Samuel Mbangula, and forward Arkadiusz Milik.
This being said, they are with the Italian side for their participation in the Club World Cup in the United States ahead of their first match against Al Ain on Thursday.

But even if they fail to land Gyokeres, other options are being considered, including Jonathan David, Mateo Retegui and Victor Osimhen.
Gyokeres had rejected a move to Man Utd to reunite with Ruben Amorim, according to Portuguese media, which had paved the way for Arsenal to land Mikel Arteta's first pure No.9.
Following talks with his agent, Arsenal submitted two bids of £55m and £60m for the striker, but saw both rejected by Sporting.
And after growing frustrated at the saga, the Gunners have parked those plans to re-open their enquiries into Aston Villa and England star Ollie Watkins.
Arsenal previously bid for Watkins in January, but the late nature of the move in the window and it falling short of Villa's £80m valuation at the time saw the approach slapped down.

Klugman bravely battled back in the second set but a backhand pass from Putintseva to break at 3-2 set the stage for the Kazakh to clinch the final four games to book her place in the second round. There, Putintseva was joined by second seed Clara Tauson, Leylah Fernandez, Dayana Yastremska and Linda Noskova. Denmark's Tauson eased past Kimberley Birrell 7-5 6-2 while Fernandez survived a scare from Lamens to win out 6-3 4-6 7-5, Yastremska defeated Olga Danilovic 6-4 7-6(4) and Noskova enjoyed a 6-4 3-6 7(8)-6(6) success over Anca Todoni. Ruud van Nistelrooy considers swoop for ex-Arsenal star after Man Utd rejection
Leicester City are bidding to seal an immediate return to the Premier League after their dismal season saw them relegated back to the Championship, with Ruud van Nistelrooy unable to halt their slide Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has targeted a move for ex- Arsenal wonderkid Sam Greenwood as he looks to secure an immediate return to the Premier League with the Foxes. The Manchester United legend was appointed by Leicester at the end of 2024 to replace Steve Cooper but could not prevent their relegation back to the second tier as they were sent down in April. Van Nistelrooy admitted he was unsure if he would stay on for their rebuild in the Championship but said he was hopeful of having a conversation about his future. With no news incoming, it appears the Dutchman has been backed to oversee their promotion bid and he has reportedly lined up his first transfer. According to the Mail, the Foxes are eyeing up Greenwood, who featured for Arsenal's youth sides before joining Leeds United in 2020. The 23-year-old forward spent last season on loan with Preston as he scored seven goals and assisted three and Leicester are said to see him as a good fit for their squad in the Championship. Greenwood's opportunities will be limited at Leeds after Daniel Farke's men secured promotion to the Premier League, so a move to Leicester could be ideal to continue his progression. The report adds that Sunderland - Greenwood's hometown club where he started his career - are also keen on a move. Manager Regis Le Bris will have to secure some bargain deals with the club having limited funds for transfers. Greenwood joined Arsenal in 2018 - having rejected Manchester United in favour of a move to the Emirates - but never made a senior appearance for the Gunners and joined Leeds two years later as Marcelo Bielsa snapped him up. He played a total of 32 games in the Premier League for the Whites, socring once, before being loaned to Middlesbrough in 2023-24. Greenwood netted five times for Boro, playing 38 times as he was loaned out again to Preston last season. Van Nistelrooy will be keen to have confirmation he is the man Leicester want to lead their revival after admitting he was in the dark about his future following the club's last Premier League game of the campaign. FIFA make Club World Cup judgement despite clear issue during Chelsea match
Only 22,137 fans attended Chelsea's opening Club World Cup match against LAFC at a 71,000 capacity stadium in Atlanta, but FIFA chiefs are confident that the event is a success FIFA bosses regard the Club World Cup as a success despite the low attendances. Chelsea 's opening fixture in the tournament with Los Angeles FC saw only 22,137 fans turn up in the vast Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. They are also braced for more low attendances in other Group matches but were expecting low crowds in certain games despite slashing ticket prices to as low as £38 for general admission. However, FIFA have already totted up aggregate crowds of more than 250,000 for the tournament and are fully expecting it to catch light in the later rounds with big showdowns lined up. They saw gates in excess of 60,000 for Inter Miami's opener and 80,000-plus in the Rose Bowl to watch PSG beat Atletico Madrid. Chelsea was a big disappointment on Monday in Atlanta but it was played at 3pm local time on a normal working day and yet there is an expectation they will keep daytime games in next year's World Cup. However, Los Angeles getting through did mean a lower gate because if Mexican side Club America had won that play-off for the final spot there was an expectation they could have sold out the stadium in Atlanta three times over. There has also been decent TV viewing figures with Channel 5 reporting peak audiences in excess of 560,000 even for Bayern Munich 's 10-0 win over Auckland City. Even though the Chelsea game was a serious blow, FIFA expect the final and semi finals in the 82,500 capacity Met Life Stadium to be a huge attraction. They still see the Club World Cup as a work in progress, it will take time to catch on and to grow. But the feeling is that it has so far been a success rather than a flop despite the stay-away fans and public criticism of players being forced to play too many games.
