Ibrahim Ali Khan didn't debut with 'Sarzameen'; It all started when he filled in for Ranveer Singh for THIS film, Kayoze Irani reveals

Time of India2 days ago
Long before his debut in 'Sarzameen,'
Ibrahim Ali Khan
was quietly working behind the scenes as an assistant director on 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'. It was on that very set, while filling in for
Ranveer Singh
during a shot setup, that his life took an unexpected turn.
Director
Kayoze Irani
, sitting behind the monitor with Karan Johar, noticed something striking. 'He's got a face for the camera,' Kayoze recalled in an interview with SCREEN. That moment led to an audition, a reading, and eventually a six-month intensive workshop. The son of Saif Ali Khan and
Amrita Singh
had found his path to the screen.
Boot camp, no phones, and a letter home
But this wasn't a case of just being 'launched.' Kayoze took Ibrahim through a grueling preparation process.
The first stop? An army-style boot camp deep in the jungle with no phones or network. 'If he had to contact anyone, he had to cycle to the post office and send a letter,' Kayoze said. This raw and disconnected experience was designed to bring Ibrahim closer to the world of his character—a young soldier navigating trauma and purpose.
Once back, Ibrahim underwent acting training under Atul Mongia, known for drawing authentic performances from first-time actors.

Mongia's process focused on introspection and emotional depth. 'We had conversations about his own journey. I wanted him to explore that inner world,' Kayoze said.
Early promise, but rough around the edges
'Sarzameen' may be getting mixed reviews from the viewers, but Ibrahim's performance did catch attention. Critics noted his potential in action and brooding scenes, even as they pointed out his inexperience in more emotionally demanding moments. Kayoze remained hopeful, acknowledging that while there were 'loopholes,' audiences were forgiving. The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol in the lead.

Hrithik Roshan fans are eagerly awaiting his upcoming film 'War 2', co‑starring Jr NTR and Kiara Advani . The action‑packed thriller is set to release on 14 August, and audiences across India are eager for the next big chapter in the YRF spy universe. But away from the screen's high‑speed chases and intense action, Hrithik enjoys a very different kind of luxury, his stunning seaside home in Juhu, Mumbai. Let's step inside and explore his dream space. Prime location with stunning ocean views Hrithik's dream home is located on the Juhu‑Versova Link Road, one of the most desirable addresses in Mumbai. Known for its excellent connectivity, this stretch links easily to other parts of the city while being close to shops, office spaces, and malls. The surroundings are well maintained, adding to the charm of living in such a prime spot. The biggest advantage of this location is the breathtaking view of the Arabian Ocean. From the moment you walk into the apartment, the vast blue water becomes a part of the backdrop, creating a sense of calm and openness that city living often lacks. Massive space spread across three floors As reported by Republic World, Hrithik's home is far from an average Mumbai apartment. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like When Knee Pain Hits, Start Eating These Foods, and Feel Your Pain Go Away (It's Genius) Read More Undo Spanning a huge 38,000 square feet, the property occupies the 14th, 15th, and 16th floors of Mannat Apartments. What makes it even more unique is how it came together, the home was created by combining 46 smaller flats, each about 800 square feet. The result is a sprawling sky‑high space with enough room for every corner to have its own personality. Breezy vibes straight from the sea According to Architectural Digest, the airy feel of the home isn't just down to clever design. The fresh sea breeze from the Arabian Sea drifts straight into the apartment, giving it a light, open atmosphere throughout the day. One of the highlights of the space is the large den next to the living room. This is not just a quiet corner, it's where Hrithik spends quality time with his two sons. The sea air, the natural light, and the relaxed design make it a favourite hangout spot in the home. A creative hub for work and play The den also doubles as Hrithik's private office, filled with bound scripts and books on filmmaking. Adding a creative edge is a life‑size graffiti mural by Daku, often called the 'Banksy of India', painted on a white brick wall. On weekends, Hrithik transforms this wall into a big screen, projecting films for a cosy home‑cinema experience. He often shares glimpses of his gym and living room on social media, especially during workout sessions with his mother. Designed with the sea, travel and family in mind The design and colour palette of the home draw inspiration from the sea, with themes of travel and family woven in. As Architectural Digest revealed, Hrithik even travelled to Dubai to select the larger furniture pieces himself. Though the house boasts elegant décor, it remains child‑ and pet‑friendly. Artworks and artefacts, including a Desmond Lazaro quadriptych and a panel of vintage architectural blueprints, bring character to the space.

She's such a gentle, selfless soul with immense inner strength, and I was instantly drawn to her emotional depth. What I love most is her quiet resilience; she holds her family together, manages their mess business, and gradually evolves into a more confident, independent woman. I've never portrayed a character like this in my acting career until now; Sahana is one of the simplest and grounded characters my viewers will get to watch. Working alongside such experienced and talented actors has been a big learning experience for me, and I'm so grateful to be part of this amazing team. I hope viewers enjoy watching Suma's journey as much as I enjoy playing her!' Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is all set to premiere soon. As the story premieres, it will be interesting to see how Ganga Mai holds her family together with unwavering love and determination, rising above society's judgment to create a life of meaning.
