Major TV decision made for Rangers vs Panathinaikos UCL tie

The tie with the Greeks is the first of three that the Ibrox club must negotiate if they are to make it to the lucrative league phase of European football's premier club competition.

'This is our time': Palmer-Brown and Panathinaikos target Rangers comeback
Erik Palmer-Brown claimed Panathinaikos are 'really confident' they can overturn a 2-0 deficit at home to Rangers in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier in Athens on Wednesday. The Greeks went down 2-0 at Ibrox last Tuesday as Russell Martin's side seized the initiative in the battle to set up a third qualifying round clash with Viktoria Plzen or Servette. But American defender Palmer-Brown is adamant the Greeks are still firmly in the tie and can get the victory required to oust the William Hill Premiership side. 'I think we have to be ready, this is our time,' he said at his team's pre-match media briefing on Tuesday. 'I think over this last week we all have felt really confident and believe in ourselves to go out there and do what is needed. 'We're playing at our house in front of our fans and we know their expectations and what we expect of ourselves as well. We're going to go out there and give it our all. 'Of course, we know we have to score three goals as of now and we don't plan on giving any up. That's our goal as well, so we've got to go out there and perform at a really high level because we know they're coming to win as well. 'This is a good team and we know that we're going to have to go out there and do our best and give everything we have.' Panathinaikos spurned a series of chances at Ibrox and their cause was not helped by the fact they played the last half-hour with 10 men. 'I think we did a lot of things well but I don't think we finished off our chances that we created and ultimately that hurt us in the end of the game,' said Palmer-Brown. 'I think also on transition we can do better on stopping their two goals. If we put our chances away again that we had, maybe this doesn't happen. But this is football and sometimes it is cruel and you get unlucky sometimes. 'In this game, we need to take advantage of the chances we create, and we will do that.' 'I was in the crowd when England's Lionesses roared home - the atmosphere was incredible'
More than 65,000 people gathered in central London to watch England's Lionesses celebrate their homecoming in style It looked like it was going to rain on their parade. All morning, thick clouds hovered over Buckingham Palace like they were ready to burst - ominous, brooding. A bit like England in the group stages. Or England 2-0 down against Sweden, or right up to extra time against France. But with this group, you knew it would come good in the end. And sure enough, just as their two red open-topped buses turned onto the Mall, the clouds parted and the sun came blazing down in glory. Over 65,000 people erupted in cheers, not for the weather, but for what we'd all come to celebrate - the Lionesses, double European champions, heroes of the summer. I had joined the throng of jubilant fans lining the Mall, packed shoulder-to-shoulder with families, football fans, and faces painted with pride. Some of whom had arrived in the early hours to get the best view of the women whose names were emblazoned on their shirts and flags. Even before the Lionesses arrived, excitement rippled through the air. The noise built as the crowd swelled - chants echoing, fans singing along to the Royal Marines Band's brass rendition of It's Coming Home, and cheers ringing out as England's tournament highlights played on the big screens. Many of those cheering were teenage girls who had followed every nail-biting second of the Lionesses' journey - and had to see the finale too as their heroes brought it home. Among them was 12-year-old Amelie from Brighton, who was with her dad Anthony. Watching Sarina Wiegman's side win the Euros in 2022 inspired her to take up football, and she's just got home from competing with her girls' team in the Gothia Cup in Sweden. 'I just saw how happy it makes them and how determined they are and how much work they put in,' she said. 'It just really inspired me. 'This time I watched every single game. It's given me even more determination. It's made me realise that the sky's the limit.' Friends Bea, Lily and Izzy, all 16 from Guildford, agreed it was important to be there. 'So many girls have got into football because of them,' said Bea. 'They inspire me. They taught me not to give up, because even when it looks like you might not win, you still can.' The Mall has probably never heard such high-pitched screams as when the Lionesses finally came into view. Some of the girls gasped as they saw their heroines riding past. They looked as excited to see them - filming on their phones, waving and blowing kisses, and Captain Leah Williamson hoisting the trophy aloft. There were still more memories to be made. Sarina dancing on stage with Burna Boy. Chloe Kelly dropping an F-bomb on live TV - prompting a wince and an apology from Alex Scott between giggles. Heather Small leading the England squad in a rendition of Proud. Then came the final crescendo - red smoke billowing into the sky as the squad raised the trophy once more. It was followed by the loudest moment of the day - tens of thousands belting out Sweet Caroline in unison. And right until the very end, the sun kept shining for the Lionesses. Of course it did.

Oliver Antman to Rangers transfer hampered by Celtic as Jakob Breum stance made clear by agent
The Glasgow giants are both looking to snap up wingers from the Eredivise outfit this summer Go Ahead Eagles' CEO Jan Willem van Dop had declared that the club will only sell one of Oliver Antman and Jakob Breum this summer. It comes with both Rangers showing interesting in Finnish international Antman - while Celtic have seen bids turned down for Dane Breum already this summer. A fee of around £5million has been reported for Antman after he netted seven goals and an impressive 17 assists to help fire his club to Dutch Cup glory last term. The Eagles are reported to be expecting an offer from the Scottish Premiership side for the 23-year-old. And when speaking to De Oosttribune, Van Dop insisted the club would not sell both of their key men. Asked about interest from the Glasgow giants in Breum and Antman, he responded: "Those are the guys who are in the spotlight. I think one of them will ultimately leave." The comments come after Breum's agent has told the Dutch club his client wants to join Celtic this summer. But the Scottish champions have been warned they must stump up the cash to sign the 21-year-old. The Hoops are in need of reinforcements on the flanks after Nicolas Kuhn joined Como in a £17.2million deal - while Jota is sidelined until next year. Van Dop insists the club won't sell on the cheap - having already knocked back a more substantial bid from FC Twente: "There was a question (from FC Twente), and that was about Jakob Breum. That's negotiable, but only if the price is right. "And we couldn't reach an agreement on that. What I did find positive was that his thoughts were certainly higher than the official offer Celtic ever made. "I've told Celtic that we won't be accepting their offer. I spoke to Breum's agent on the phone Monday morning, and he hopes he'll go that route. "We're certainly not the most difficult club, but it has to be a good fit. "And if we can't reach a financial agreement, we also have the right to say: well, it's not going to happen." Asked if the club had set an asking price in the region of £5.1million, he cryptically added: "We've set a ceiling."
