AMA winners list 2025 is here, Billie, SZA, Eminem, Charli XCX ate and left no crumbs

The 2025 American Music Awards just dropped a cultural bomb and let us tell you, this winners list has more drama than a Lana Del Rey lyric. From emotional upsets to jaw-dropping sweeps, this year's ceremony was a genre-blurring rollercoaster of old faves, new icons, and fashion that screamed main character energy.
American Music Awards 2025
Let us start with the queen of haunting melodies, Billie Eilish walked away with the crown for Artist of the Year, edging out a stacked lineup that included Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Chappell Roan. Gracie Abrams, who is literally the soundtrack to every emotionally unstable 20-something's life, snagged New Artist of the Year, proving that soft girls run the game now.
Over in Album of the Year territory, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter lassoed in a nomination but it was Billie again who stayed booked and busy with Hit Me Hard and Soft. Meanwhile, Chappell Roan, who already owns TikTok with Good Luck, Babe!, made her award show presence known, even if she did not take home the big ones. (Justice for Midwest Princess.)
Let us not even pretend that the night did not belong to SZA too—she took Favourite Female R&B Artist and R&B Song for Saturn. At this point, her impact on music and astrology is undeniable.
But the biggest shocker? Eminem is back on his Rap God throne with Favourite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Hip-Hop Album for The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Kendrick did bag Hip-Hop Song of the Year though, proving you can still roast your rivals and win awards doing it.
Charli XCX's Brat era continued slaying with three nominations, solidifying her as pop's most unbothered innovator. In Latin music, Bad Bunny scooped up multiple nods while Becky G reigned supreme among the female contenders. And let us not ignore rock—Hozier's Too Sweet continues to ruin lives in the best way possible.
Oh, and Jennifer Lopez hosted in Vegas like it was her award show, because honestly, it kind of was. The night was electric, extra, and everything in between.

Teen Working At Burger King In Graduation Uniform Gets Rs 68 Lakh Donation

A Georgia teenager received nearly $80,000, approximately Rs 68,25,360, in donations after attending his Burger King work shift in his graduation ceremony attire. Mykale Baker, 18, had every reason to celebrate on May 21. The Mills Creek High School senior had just walked across the graduation stage with medals he earned with a lot of hard work. But Mr Baker picked up his diploma and resumed his job at Burger King in Dacula, Georgia. He was still in his graduation gear and his silent show of devotion didn't go unnoticed. Maria Mendoza, an observant local, was drawn to Mr Baker's outfit and decided to capture the moment on a TikTok video. She showed the diligent worker who chose to work hard and postpone his well-earned summer vacation. Like Ms Mendoza, the online community was so amazed by the young man's work ethic that her 20-second video went viral with more than three million views. Inspired by the overwhelming response online, Ms Mendoza launched a GoFundMe account for Mr Baker, which has as so far received nearly $80,000, approximately Rs 68,25,360. "One young man silently showed the world what determination looks like," Ms Mendoza wrote on the GoFundMe page, "while many graduates celebrated the night with friends and family." "He proudly wore his medals to his shift at Burger King shortly after receiving his diploma," she continued. Ms Mendoza further mentioned that Baker "didn't do it for attention." "He is completely unaware that his story went viral. However, his work ethic, modesty, and dedication touched countless people," she continued. Ms Mendoza's kindness brought Mr Baker and his mother to tears on May 26 when she disclosed the total amount of money raised. "His commitment and silent strength truly touched me. I felt compelled to take action to acknowledge that. I'm grateful that I was able to help him," Ms Mendoza told 11 Alive. Mr Baker, who wants to study mechanics in trade school, was touched by the overwhelming response. "Thank you so much," he told Ms Mendoza's TikTok followers. "I didn't have enough money for school, so I was thinking about taking a gap year, but thank you to everyone now," he said. Mr Baker will receive the entire donation raised through GoFundMe so he can accomplish his college dreams.

‘He starts pinching me…': Rachel Gupta gives up Miss Grand International crown, organisers say title ‘revoked'; signs one might be trapped in toxic environment

Rachel Gupta, the 21-year-old model from Jalandhar who made history by becoming the first Indian to win the Miss Grand International title in 2024, has now relinquished her crown — just seven months into her reign. However, the organisers mentioned that her title has been revoked, adding that 'the crown be returned to the MGI Head Office within 30 days from the date of this notice.' On May 28, Rachel announced her resignation on Instagram, citing 'broken promises, mistreatment and a toxic environment.' The following day, she released a YouTube video titled 'The Truth about Miss Grand International — My Story,' in which she offered an unfiltered account of her experience, levelling disturbing allegations against the pageant's organisers. 'Frankly they don't care if I live or die. As long as I'm there to smile at their events, as long as I keep my body super skinny, the way they like, they don't care if I live or die,' she said in the video. 'They just want me to be there, to go on TikTok Live and make money for them and show up at their events. That's it, that's all they want from me… I realised they would never, never support me, and I was completely on my own… they made us sell. You guys know they made us sell these cheap, tacky products on TikTok like we were salesgirls. You've crowned queens, girls who have careers in our country, we do things, we're well respected, and they're making us sell cheap products on TikTok because it makes them money and you can't say no.' Rachel also described feeling physically humiliated and body shamed, saying, 'I remember one time, they sent their representative to me and he just comes up to me and he starts pinching me in different places and he's like 'Oh you need to lose weight here, you need to lose weight here'. What am I supposed to say to that? It's so embarrassing. It makes you feel so small and so bad. I understand, obviously I have to stay fit for the job I have, and have to stay in shape, but it's so difficult when you don't have access to anything and you're just locked in a house, basically all day long.' However, on its official Instagram page, Miss Grand International released a statement mentioning that Rachel's title was revoked due to 'her failure to fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.' 'Miss Rachel Gupta is no longer authorized to use the title or wear the crown associated with Miss Grand International 2024,' it added. Gurleen Baruah, existential psychotherapist at That Culture Thing, tells 'In such environments, a woman's body becomes a product to be displayed, measured, and controlled. Over time, this relentless pressure can lead to internalised perfectionism, body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and a haunting belief that love, success, or safety depends entirely on how you look.' What makes it even more harmful is the emotional isolation. Baruah explains that when you're surrounded by glamour but deprived of real support or autonomy, self-doubt turns into quiet self-rejection. One of the clearest signs of a toxic or exploitative environment is the loss of personal autonomy. Baruah states, 'When adults are denied access to essentials, and expected to perform happiness while privately struggling, it starts to mirror cult-like dynamics. Subservience is rewarded, dissent is punished, and over time, the person may begin to question their own judgement.' Seeking help in these situations is hard, especially when power dynamics are steep and isolation is enforced. But even the smallest act of reaching out — whether it's talking to a trusted family member, quietly messaging a friend, or contacting a support organisation — can begin to break the silence.
