Muzammil Ibrahim says Deepika Padukone asked him out, dated for 2 years before he broke up: ‘Talked before her marriage'

Mint3 days ago

Actor Muzammil Ibrahim made bold claims about his personal life in an interview about Deepika Padukone. He said he was in a relationship with Deepika for two years right after she shifted to Mumbai during her early days. While he said it was Deepika who asked him out, Muzammil was the one to break up.
In an interview, Muzammil told Siddharth Kannan, 'We were in a relationship for two years.'
He claimed that the two were in touch post break up but stopped talking after Deepika married Ranveer Singh in 2019.
Muzammil Ibrahim shared that as he and Deepika did not have much money in those days, they would go out on rickshaw dates in the rain.
He said, "We were kids then. We would go on dates in a rickshaw in the rains. That was very cute. I had more money than her because I had started earning better. Then I bought a car and she was very happy about that. These things are very memorable because I have not been on a date in a rickshaw since then, and we were so happy even though we had no money.'
He also highlighted that while he was established at that time, Deepika wasn't as popular like she is today. However, she was confident as she was the daughter of star player Prakash Padukone.
He said, 'She was very confident because she is Prakash Padukone's daughter so everyone knew about her.'
'I was a star at that time, she was not. She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her, nobody knows me. I am a big fan. I love watching her movies. She is a beautiful woman. She is doing so great but the fact is what it is,' he added.
When asked if they still talk to each other, he said that they used to talk till the time she married Ranveer. "Before she got married, we would talk sometimes,' he said. He also mentioned that over time, they grew to be friends who occasionally exchanged congratulations on each other's achievements.
Deepika has not yet responded to these revelations.
Muzammil Ibrahim rose to fame after winning the Gladrags Manhunt India pageant as Mr India. Later he made his film debut with Pooja Bhatt's film, Dhokha.
He also starred in films like Horn 'Ok' Pleassss, Will You Marry Me? and Special Ops, which did not work.

AA22A6: Deepika Padukone as The Witcher? AI image resurfaces after casting in Atlee-Allu Arjun film

As Deepika Padukone picks up her sword and gets ready to play the role of a warrior queen, an AI-generated image of the beauty has resurfaced on social media. The picture, shared by a fan handle back in 2024, reimagined her as a fierce female Witcher. The picture was posted online with the caption, "You asked for it! Deepika is a Witcher!" This comes just hours after the official announcement of her casting as the female lead in Atlee's next big project with Allu Arjun was announced on Saturday. The viral image depicts Deepika in a leather and iron clad outfit with a breastplate, giving her the perfect warrior look. With piercing eyes she wears her hair down in loose waves, much like Henry Cavill 's character of Geralt of Rivia. While not officially linked to the film, the timing of the AI artwork and the project's epic scale teased in the announcement clip, has sparked speculation about Deepika's role in the high-octane sci-fi film tentatively titled Project AA22 x A6. On Saturday, the makers dropped an announcement video, showcasing director Atlee and Deepika in discussion. The video later shows the actress getting into prep mode as she picks up a sword and swings an axe while prepping for her action-packed role. When not in her armour, DP was seen in a motion-capture suit, riding a mechanical horse, suggesting epic battle scenes set to unfold in this new film. Director Atlee, in a press note, praised the actress, saying, 'Collaborating with Deepika Padukone ma'am on Jawan was incredible—her range, power, and grace shine in every frame. She drives the story. Now, with her and Allu Arjun sir together, we're creating something truly unforgettable—real filmmaker's dream synergy.' Backing the grand vision, Sun Pictures added, 'Having Deepika Padukone on board elevates this project to a whole new level. She brings gravitas, star power, and an unmatched presence that will leave a lasting impact. With Atlee's vision, Allu Arjun's magnetic energy, and Deepika's commanding brilliance, we're creating something iconic for audiences across the globe.' While plot details remain under wraps, Deepika's pairing with Allu Arjun has generated major buzz, both in Bollywood and pan-India cinema circles. Deepika Padukone and the debate about work culture in Bollywood

Deepika Padukone has initiated an interesting debate in our film industry. Allegedly, in the forthcoming Telugu magnum opus, Spirit, directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, where she was to play the lead role with Prabhas of Bahubali fame, she asked for an eight-hour shift, profit sharing, pre-decided days of shooting, and inability to speak Telugu. Vanga rejected her demands, and replaced her with Tripti Dimri. Essentially, what has created controversy is her demand for an eight-hour shift for actors. This has become a wider issue since some film personalities, like Mani Ratnam, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Radhika Apte and Pankaj Tripathi, have supported her stand. Others believe it is unworkable and unjustified. At one level, Deepika is making the request for a more regulated film industry, in which actors have the option of creating the right balance between work and leisure, career and personal life. But in any creative industry, are such strict rules feasible? Especially, in the film industry, there are so many unpredictable coordinates, that the demand—however well-intentioned—could be quite impractical. For instance, where outdoor shooting is involved, weather could play a spoilsport, inevitably delaying the number of hours actors have to shoot. These days, big films have huge budgets riding on them. A significant proportion of such budgets goes in paying the gargantuan amounts that leading actors demand, and get. For big budget films, completing the shooting schedule in time becomes a matter of commercial priority. When a shooting takes place, the number of people involved are so large, that delays in schedule are par for the course. If a film has to be completed in time, inflexible working hours may just not be sustainable. The more important question, however, is whether in any creative industry, work hours can be rigidly defined? Let us suppose a group of youngsters are working on an innovative start-up. Each of them is driven by passion, and the promise of money and success if the venture succeeds. Can any of them insist that to make it succeed he/she will put in only a fixed number of hours of work? In that case a more predictable 9 am to 5 pm job is the better option to opt for. She has been working in films for the last twenty years, has an endless list of box-office hits under her belt, and is today Bollywood's highest paid female actor, getting—as per reports—as much as ₹20 to 30 crores per film, plus a share in profits. In addition, she is the highly paid brand ambassador of an entire range of top corporate houses, including Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Adidas and Levi's. She has also invested in a start-up and a self-care brand. Her husband, Ranveer Singh, is a top actor too. But what about those who are aspirants to this same success, but still somewhere near the bottom of the ladder? Most of them would be willing to put in as many hours as are necessary in order to prove their worth and achieve stardom. I would imagine that Deepika herself, when she began her film career with the film 'Aishwarya' in Kannada (2006), would not have made the eight-hour shift her demand. She can do so now, having slogged endless hours to reach where she has. Besides, as the mother of a young daughter, Dua, she has a legitimate reason for more time available for her child and family. The bottom line is that the chaotic rules of the film industry do need reform: better remuneration, working conditions, health and pension benefits for the army of support staff, greater gender parity, and far more financial transparency. If Deepika's demand ignites a larger debate on these questions, it would be a good thing. Are any of our top film stars, who now want more time for their family, willing to reduce their fee so that films cost less and working hours to complete it can be regulated in conformity with commercial viability? How many of those who are now pontificating on greater work-life balance, would have made this a priority when they were still struggling and far from the success they now enjoy? It is said that S.D. Burman, the acclaimed music composer, used to wake up in the middle of the night driven by the inspiration of a new composition, and would immediately call up the lyricist and musicians to try it out. What if these colleagues had turned round and told him that they work eight hours and no more? Deepika ji, it is understandable that you have allegedly made this demand. But I think in any creative industry outside the 9am to 5pm job format, what you can afford to ask for now may not be backed by those who want to reach where you have, or by those directors, producers and their associates, who have helped you reach there. Deepika Padukone's fans clap back at Sandeep Reddy Vanga after the actress gets on board for Atlee's film with Allu Arjun; call him 'Manchild'

Deepika Padukone is making waves after reportedly exiting Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit and swiftly joining Atlee and Allu Arjun's AA22xA6. The announcement, featuring a fierce Deepika in action-packed scenes, ignited social media, with fans praising her move and criticizing Vanga. Amidst rumors of scheduling conflicts with other projects, Atlee is being lauded for respecting Padukone's vision. Deepika Padukone is once again dominating headlines—but this time, it's not just for her next big project. After being reportedly dropped from Sandeep Reddy Vanga 's Spirit, the actress has now joined Atlee and Allu Arjun 's much-anticipated Telugu film, AA22xA6. The timing of the announcement has sparked a storm on social media, with fans fiercely defending Deepika and slamming Vanga, calling her casting in Atlee's film the ultimate power move. Earlier today, the makers of AA22xA6 unveiled an exciting announcement video, officially welcoming Deepika Padukone to the cast. The video teases her in a fierce, action-packed avatar, hinting at a powerful role. It opens with Deepika in conversation with director Atlee as they go over the script, followed by behind-the-scenes glimpses of her prepping for high-octane CGI sequences. From wielding a sword to riding a dummy horse, the footage promises Deepika like never before. As the announcement video went viral across social media, Deepika Padukone's fans took to Reddit to troll Sandeep Reddy Vanga. While one user wrote, 'Yup, so it was never about speaking Telugu or 8 hours or remuneration. All those were lies? Guess we now know who the bigger liar was in this whole saga', another one added, 'Man child Vangu crying in the corner'. A user also commented, 'She has been the top actress for years. No Sandeep Reddy Vanga can make her sit at home'. One person wrote, 'Just as there were rumours about her being ousted from another movie over her 8-hour shift demands, this is a knockout move. A statement made loud & clear. Good for her.' Interestingly, the announcement comes at a time when Deepika Padukone is caught in the middle of the Spirit exit controversy. Adding to the buzz, rumours suggest that even Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin is reportedly finding it difficult to align with some of her demands—though there's no official word on this yet. Still, the chatter around Deepika's upcoming projects has sparked a frenzy online. Amid the noise, fans are lauding director Atlee for 'understanding' and 'respecting' Deepika's vision and superstar stature.
