‘In Your Dreams' Teaser: The Search for the Sandman Powers Netflix's New Animated Sibling Fantasy

Netflix dropped the teaser trailer for its animated Oscar-hopeful, 'In Your Dreams' (streaming November 14), the original comedy-fantasy about siblings trying to save their parents' marriage by enlisting the aid of the mythical Sandman. Former Pixar story artist Alex Woo ('WALL-E') directs with Erik Benson, another ex-Pixar story artist ('Toy Story 4'). The film is produced by Netflix Animation and Woo's Kuku Studios, with animation by Sony Pictures Imageworks. The voice cast is led by Cristin Milioti as the mom and Simu Liu as the dad. 'In Your Dreams' finds Stevie (voiced by Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and her brother Elliot (voiced by Elias Janssen) discovering a magic book, which allows them to enter the wacky realm of their dreams, where the Sandman (Omid Djalili) can grant their wish for the perfect family. Along the way, they encounter Elliot's long-lost sarcastic stuffed giraffe, Baloney Tony (Craig Robinson), zombie breakfast foods, and Nightmara (Gia Carides), the Sandman's rival. He presented footage Thursday at the Annecy Animation Film Festival with production designer Steve Pilcher ('Soul') and VFX supervisor Nicola Lavender ('The Mitchells vs. the Machines'). Accompanying the sumptuous animation of the surreal landscapes are compelling themes of managing dual careers while being caring, nurturing parents, the importance of imagination and not giving up on your dream, and learning to cope with harsh realities as a part of growing up. And be careful what you wish for. At Annecy, Netflex Animation (led by Hannah Minghella, head of Netflix Feature Animation and Family Film) touted sneak peeks of two upcoming animated series, 'Stranger Things: Tales from '85' (from showrunner Eric Robles), and 'Long Story Short' (from 'Bojack Horseman's' Raphael Bob-Waksberg, streaming August 22), as well as the features 'KPop Demon Hunters' (directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, streaming June 20), the Roald Dahl-adapted 'The Twits' (directed by Phil Johnston, streaming in the fall), and 'Pookoo' (from Skydance Animation and director Nathan Greno, streaming in 2026). In addition, Netflix premiered Genndy Tartakovsky's adult 2D comedy feature, 'Fixed' (streaming August 13). Check out the first teaser for 'In Your Dreams' below. 'I'm a total idiot': Schwarzenegger on dancing in Netflix's 'Fubar' 2

At 77 years old, Arnold Schwarzenegger is playing the role that has always suited him best. In the Netflix series "Fubar," the Hollywood star and former Governor of California portrays an ageing action hero with a hefty dose of self-irony, delivering witty one-liners. It's clear that he is thoroughly enjoying himself. As of now (June 12), the streaming service is offering the delightfully over-the-top second season of "Fubar." Filming the new episodes was even more fun than the first season, says Arnie. "I think it was more fun because we knew each other," he cheerfully tells dpa. Schwarzenegger returns as CIA agent Luke Brunner, a native Austrian who is on the brink of retirement. At the start of season two, Luke is holed up in a safe house with his ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio), his daughter and CIA colleague Emma (Monica Barbaro), Tally and Emma's ex-partners, and several CIA colleagues after their secret identities have been exposed. But the house is a little too small for this many people. "Everyone hears everything. Everyone sees everything. We are starting to get on each other's nerves," Schwarzenegger explains. "It's really, really funny. But (...) then it just goes from these very comedic scenes to a full-blast action scene. Then all of a sudden, you see the action." The nods to classic action films are intentional. "I'm back!" the "Terminator" star exclaims in the very first episode. Matrix's Trinity as an East German ex-agent In season one, Luke Brunner discovered that his daughter Emma was a top agent — and vice versa. Together, the two had to take down an arms dealer while repairing their father-daughter relationship. In the new episodes, they continue to engage in many amusing verbal sparring matches while tackling action-packed espionage missions—and ultimately trying to save the world. New to the cast is "Matrix" star Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays Greta, a former East German agent who once had a passionate affair with Luke. Luke had believed her to be dead, but now she completely disrupts his professional and personal life. In one of the best scenes, Greta forces Luke to dance. This naturally brings back memories of another Schwarzenegger action classic. "I danced a lot of hours for 'True Lies', and I practised a lot for this dance," the 77-year-old says. "I have to say that I'm a total idiot when it comes to dancing. It doesn't come natural." His dance partner Moss disagrees. "It's not true," she says. "You made it look like you did." Spoiler: She's right. It also gets funny when the two discuss the challenges of ageing, like the struggle to find a "funny line" when killing someone. Schwarzenegger: Some actors are 'miserable bastards' Schwarzenegger is, of course, not known for being a character actor. But "Fubar" is a perfect fit for him. It's still fun to watch the action icon — especially because "Arnie" himself is visibly having fun. "Some actors, they're miserable bastards," he jokes. "I'm not I'm not one of them. I don't even know why they're miserable because they have their wish. We're talking about famous actors that are very successful, but that you can see in their faces. They're cranky, they're angry." Schwarzenegger says he's happy to be able to work. "I always have fun. I'm so happy that I get to work, that I have a job, a challenge and good colleagues around me. I tell myself: 'Hey, who am I to complain? I'm having a great time.'" Many stunts done personally Even in his late 70s, Schwarzenegger says it was important to him to perform as many stunts as possible himself. "That stuff that was very easy to do when I was in my 40s is now much more difficult," he admits. "But when you get to a certain age, you want to make sure that you still can do the things. You practice earlier, you rehearse with the stunt guys, you try to figure out how are you going to fall there, how are you going to roll out of the scene and all of this stuff." Alongside the upbeat Schwarzenegger and co-star Moss, Oscar-nominated Monica Barbaro ("A Complete Unknown") shines as the perfect counterbalance to her father. Comedians Fortune Feimster (Agent Roo) and Scott Thompson (therapist Dr Pfeffer), as well as guest appearances by Schwarzenegger's "True Lies" co-star Tom Arnold, provide lots of laughs. With plenty of humour and action, the second season of "Fubar" is at least as entertaining as the first. All eight episodes of the second season are available on Netflix as of Thursday (June 12).
