Guwahati:
At least five Bangladeshi citizens were arrested and later pushed back by security personnel on Tuesday in Assam's South Salmara district on the charges of illegal infiltration.
Taking to X, Chief Minister Sarma wrote: "With an uncompromising stand on illegal infiltration, @SSalmaraPolice and @BSF_India apprehended 5 Bangladeshi nationals attempting unlawful entry and pushed them back on across the border."

He also asserted that Assam Police stays vigilant 24x7 to secure the international borders.
Earlier, the Chief Minister said: "We have put the security forces on high alert at the international border following the unrest in Bangladesh to check infiltration. The police have detected a good number of illegal immigrants on a daily basis along the international border; however, no Hindu infiltrator from Bangladesh was arrested in the last five months."
Mr Sarma argued that the Hindu community people immigrated from Bangladesh 30 or 40 years ago, and the rest of the people have been living in the neighbouring country for different reasons.
"Most of the Hindu community people who had the desire to cross the border and come to India had come here 30 or 40 years ago. The rest of the minority people have been living in Bangladesh despite facing large-scale atrocities in the neighbouring country. I guess they have their own reasons for staying there – maybe a love for the soil or patriotism towards Bangladesh," he said.
Mr Sarma also stated that the Bangladeshi infiltration spiked up in the last few months due to the collapse of the textile industry in the neighbouring country, leaving many jobless there.
He stated that the economy of Bangladesh has collapsed due to unrest, and the majority of the community people were more affected than the minority section.
"So far, we have arrested around 1,000 Bangladeshi people in the last few months. They were pushed back immediately after their arrest," said the Chief Minister.
He also attributed the illegal infiltration to incentives offered by a few textile industry owners in India.

J'khand: 3 Bangladeshi nationals who escaped from detention camp arrested

The Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Reena Khan, Nipha Akhtar alias Khusi and Md Nazmul Haldhar, escaped from the camp on Monday morning. While one detainee was held at Dhanbad railway station, two others were arrested from Bongaon near Bangladesh-West Bengal border, he said. Hazaribag (Jharkhand), Jun 10 (PTI) Three Bangladeshi nationals, who escaped from the foreigners' holding camp in Jharkhand's Hazaribag, were arrested with help of West Bengal Police, an official said on Tuesday. 'Acting promptly after the incident, a special investigation team (SIT) was set up and it conducted raids at various places to nab them. We also took help of West Bengal Police and succeeded to arrest two female detainees at Bongaon,' Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan told reporters here. He said Haldhar was arrested at Dhanbad railway station, while trying to escape to Kolkata by train. The SP said the detainees would be shifted to Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail, Hazaribag, instead of foreigners holding camp following a directive by the court of chief judicial magistrate. The SP said they will now be tried in court under Indian laws, as cases have been filed against them for violating the Foreigners Act. Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City Project to promote regional cooperation: Himanta

'The Assam government, aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands committed to supporting this project,' Sarma said. An 11-member delegation comprising members of the Project's Core Working Group and officials from the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, on a six-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya, called on the CM at his office here to exchange ideas and reaffirm ties between the state and the Kingdom of Bhutan. Guwahati, Jun 10 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City Project will promote regional cooperation and sustainable development, and the state government is committed to support the initiative. He assured the delegation of cooperation and collaboration from the state administration, which will work closely with both the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Core Working Group. The chief minister noted that the project would serve as an important platform to deepen institutional collaboration as well as people-to-people ties between Assam and Bhutan. He also highlighted the project's potential benefits for the youth of both regions through opportunities in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and more. Sarma encouraged the delegation to visit key institutions in Assam to explore further areas of synergy and cooperation. He also invited them to make use of various state-run facilities that may serve as models or partners in developing the Gelephu Mindfulness City, a Special Administrative Region (SAR) in the Kingdom of Bhutan. Recalling King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck's previous visit to Assam, Sarma expressed his desire to host the entire royal family in future. He emphasised the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration, stating that during the next visit of the Core Working Group, a broader, multi-sectoral meeting would be organised.
