Lego Bugatti Centodieci hits the road in miniature

TimesLIVE01-08-2025
Few cars embody exclusivity quite like the Bugatti Centodieci – a hypercar of which only 10 examples were built. Inspired by the iconic Bugatti EB110 and powered by a 1,177kW W16 engine, the Centodieci pays tribute to one of the Italian marque's most storied nameplates. Now, it's been reimagined in miniature form as part of the Lego Speed Champions series.
The Lego version captures many of the Centodieci's defining design elements, including its sculpted bodywork, five circular side air intakes, signature horseshoe grille, distinctive wheels, slim headlights, rear wing and quad exhausts. It's finished in white with black accents, mirroring one of the most recognisable real-world Centodieci specifications.

The 291-piece set measures more than 4cm high, 15cm long and 7cm wide. It includes a driver minifigure wearing a Bugatti-branded top. The interior features blue trim in a nod to the final Centodieci delivered in December 2022, which was finished in Quartz White with carbon-fibre details and a Light Blue Sport interior.
Each of the 10 full-scale Centodieci models was assembled by hand at Bugatti's Molsheim Atelier production facility to individual customer specifications. With other rare models such as the Divo and La Voiture Noire, it stands as one of the brand's most exclusive creations.
The Lego Speed Champions Bugatti Centodieci set is available globally via Lego.com and Lego retail stores.

Why the Garagisti GP1 is a driver's car for the digital age

Garagisti & Co is a British marque crafting ultra-low-volume analogue hypercars engineered for the future. On Friday the company unveiled the GP1, a fully analogue hypercar designed for road and track, though in rendered form. It is built using a lightweight carbon monocoque chassis for a 1,000kg dry weight. It is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine in an era dominated by electric and hybrid systems. The company said the GP1 stands as a purist's machine that exists for no other reason than to make the act of driving an unfiltered joy, with an engine developed by Italtecnica Srl, the Italian engineering firm responsible for building the 2.1 turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the Kimera EVO37, the modern reinterpretation of the legendary Lancia 037 rally car from the 1980s. The motor delivers 597kW at 9,000rpm and more than 700Nm of torque, and is designed not only to perform but to delight with a mechanical soundtrack reminiscent of motorsports engines from a bygone era. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox by Xtrac and the underside accommodates large rear diffusers to deliver ground effect performance. Renowned motorsport grade component suppliers include Brembo and Öhlins, and comfort, measured cabin noise and luggage space for grand touring form part of the targets. The GP1 figure blends cues from the age wedge designs, and is styled by former Bugatti and Rimac employee Angel Guerra. The interior is sculpted for driving purity and little distraction. Ventilation is integrated into the design, eliminating ducts and clutter with no oversized screens or unnecessary gimmicks. Garagisti & Co GP1 said only 25 road cars will be built, each hand-finished to its commissioner's specification at a cost starting from R58.3m plus local taxes. 'What if the golden age of analogue supercars never ended? What if icons such as the Countach Evoluzione had sparked a lineage rather than a dead-end? What would the great cars of the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s look like today if they'd evolved with new technology but kept their analogue soul," asked Mario Escudero, co-founder of Garagisti & Co? 'We brought together some of the best minds in the world and answered theuestion with our hands, our hearts and our passion. The GP1 is our answer.'

Programme Solitaire delivers one-off Bugatti Brouillard masterpiece

Are you finding your Bugatti a bit boring? Maybe it's just too similar to your neighbour's, or perhaps it's blending into the general malaise of the Saturday morning mall parking lot. Well, you'll be pleased to know the French carmaker has launched something called Programme Solitaire — a bespoke in-house commissioning service that, for a small fee, will reimagine your vehicle with custom bodywork and personalised interior details. Limited to two builds a year to ensure exclusivity, the first creation to leave the Programme Solitaire skunkworks is the Brouillard. Named after company founder Ettore Bugatti's beloved horse, it reinterprets a passionate client's Mistral with a revised exterior that boasts smoother lines and a lighter, more dynamic silhouette — one that appears lower and longer than the standard car. The lower third of the vehicle is rendered in exposed carbon fibre while the top two-thirds wear a bespoke satin-green paint. It also sports larger, more efficient air intakes to help keep underbody temperatures in check, a fixed ducktail spoiler, a redesigned rear diffuser and dual roof scoops that nod to the Veyron — the first Bugatti to feature the W16 engine. The standard Mistral's open top has been replaced with a more elegant glass roof. Embroidered horse motifs adorn the door panels and seat backrests. Image: Supplied Inside, custom-woven fabrics sourced from Paris merge with green-tinted carbon fibre and a greater number of machined aluminium components. The gear shifter, for example, is milled from a single block of the lightweight metal and features a glass insert containing a miniature sculpture of the Brouillard's four-legged namesake. Embroidered horse motifs adorn the door panels and seat backrests while the seats are tailored to the owner's preference and finished with a unique leather patch layout. Set to debut at Monterey Car Week, the Bugatti Brouillard offers a tantalising glimpse of what Programme Solitaire can deliver — perfectionist-level personalisation that will no doubt have many of the world's wealthiest Bugatti owners reaching for their chequebooks.
