A turning point in our history
Today, as we celebrate the 78th Independence Anniversary of our beloved homeland, I extend heartfelt congratulations to all Pakistanis at home and abroad. This day reminds us of the courage, unity, and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. The nation pays homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the workers of the Pakistan Movement for their struggle and sacrifices.
We celebrate with renewed pride and hope. Recently, our nation reaffirmed its strength, resolve, and unity in the face of external aggression. Our success in Marka-e-Haq is a landmark moment, demonstrating unshakable national will, professional excellence, and united purpose.
This victory renewed public confidence, lifted morale, restored faith in institutions, and enhanced Pakistan's global stature. It reminds us what unity and commitment can achieve. We must now channel this spirit into economic revival, educational reform, technological advancement, institutional development, and environmental resilience. The same discipline and courage can lead us to eradicate poverty, create opportunities, and build a just and inclusive society.
Let this Independence Day be a turning point in our history. Let us stand united for a Pakistan built on justice, equality, faith, and service to all. May Allah guide and support us. Ameen!
His Excellency Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Unity is our main strength
Today, with gratitude to Almighty Allah, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the nation on completion of 78 years of independence of Pakistan.
I pay tribute to Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and the Thinker of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who along with resolute leaders and workers of the Independence Movement united the nation under one vision, one mission and one goal. Their relentless efforts changed the course of history, establishing an independent, ideological state and realising a seemingly impossible dream.
The past 78 years tell a tale of resilience, strong faith and hope for a bright future as we braved challenges. Pakistan achieved milestones in economy, sports, d e - fence and information technology, with Pakistanis writing exemplary chapters of knowledge and skills.
Our great victory in Maarka-i-Haq increased the significance of freedom, enlivening new ambition and amplifying Independence Day celebrations. With Almighty Allah's blessings, our brave armed forces revived past glory, acting as a Bunyan um Marsoos – a solid fortified wall. We pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives and pray for the elevation of their ranks.
As a peaceful nation, we believe in resolving regional and global issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
Unity is our main strength. Like military prowess, a strong economy is vital for sovereignty. I invite all political parties and citizens to join hands to safeguard national interests and realise the vision of our forefathers a n d martyrs.
His Excellency Saqib Rauf, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Bahrain
Peace, progress, prosperity
As we mark the 78th anniversary of independence, I extend heartfelt felicitations to the Pakistani community in Bahrain and congratulate them on Pakistan's success in Markae-Haq. This day reminds us of the sacrifices of our forefathers and the unwavering determination of our leadership to secure a homeland where Muslims could live freely with honour and dignity.
Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence with all neighbours, prioritising economic development and improving living standards. We aim to foster win-win partnerships, engage overseas Pakistanis to attract investment, and unite with the global community against poverty, climate change, and human rights violations. We urge nations to uphold international law and agreements for lasting peace.
Escalating tensions into military conflict benefits no one and threatens regional stability. We call on the international community to act responsibly and implement UN Security Council resolutions to resolve disputes in line with the aspirations of their people.
The overseas Pakistani community plays a vital role in advancing Pakistan's vision of peace and prosperity, a contribution recognised and valued by our leadership. Bahrain remains a cherished destination for Pakistanis, many of whom have made it their home, strengthening ties between our two nations.
We are grateful for the warmth and hospitality extended by the government and people of Bahrain, especially His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the people of Bahrain.
Let us honour this day by striving for Pakistan's peace, progress, and prosperity, making our nation proud among the comity of nations.
Shahmeen Islam, President PWA, QYSSA podcast, Qyssa radio live fm. 107.2
Not just tales of the past
On this Independence Day we honour not just the freedom won on battlefields, but the quieter, enduring battle of truth—the struggle to preserve our stories, our values, and the voices that often go unheard.
As President of the Pakistani Women's Association and co-founder of Qyssa, I've witnessed how powerful our stories can be—how truth, when shared with sincerity, becomes a form of service. At Qyssa, every story we tell is rooted in this spirit: of truth-telling, of remembering who we are, and of giving back by amplifying the narratives that shape our identity as Pakistanis. These are not just tales of the past—they are living testaments to resilience, dignity, and the ongoing journey of a nation built on sacrifice and courage. Through every Qyssa , we continue that legacy of truth, of hope, and of service to our people.
The battle of truth that continues every day
This Independence Day, as we celebrate the freedom our nation fought so hard to achieve, we also honour the battle of truth that continues every day—the truth of our responsibility to give back. As Vice President of the Pakistani Women's Association, I've seen firsthand how meaningful change begins not with grand gestures, but with quiet, consistent acts of service. Giving back is not charity—it is a duty to our people, our roots, and our future.
This 14th August, may we all rise to meet that truth—with open hands, open hearts, and a renewed commitment to our community.

Marking I-Day, India's Modi vows self-reliance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his Independence Day address to outline key achievements, major reforms, and a vision for a self-reliant, developed India by 2047. 'My dear countrymen, This festival of Independence is a celebration of the 140 crore resolutions of our people and a moment of collective pride. From the deserts to the Himalayas, the seashores to crowded cities, the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign echoes the praise of our motherland. In 1947, our nation began its journey with immense challenges. Guided by the Constitution, shaped by leaders like Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sardar Patel, and Hansa Mehta, we have followed the path set by revered Bapu. Today, I bow to these makers of modern Bharat. On this 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, we recall his sacrifice for 'One Nation, One Constitution'. Guests from across Bharat, from village panchayats to sportspersons, are present here, symbolising unity. Nature has tested us with landslides and cloudbursts; relief and rescue efforts are ongoing. Operation Sindoor showed our resolve after the Pahalgam massacre. Our forces, given full freedom, destroyed terrorist bases deep inside enemy territory. Bharat will not tolerate nuclear blackmail, nor will we allow water that belongs to us under the Indus Treaty to flow away unjustly. Self-reliance is the foundation of a Viksit Bharat. 'Made in India' enabled Operation Sindoor's success. We are advancing in semiconductors, clean energy, nuclear power, and critical minerals. By 2047, nuclear capacity will grow tenfold, and we aim for energy independence through the National Deep Water Exploration Mission. We are building an Aatmanirbhar Gaganyaan and preparing our own space station. I urge our scientists, engineers, and youth to develop indigenous jet engines, medicines, AI platforms, fertilizers, EV batteries, and more. Entrepreneurship thrives, with women's self-help groups achieving remarkable success - two crore have become 'Lakhpati Didi'. Farmers have broken production records, with agro-exports at Rs 4 lakh crore. Schemes like PM-Kisan and crop insurance are empowering them. In ten years, 25 crore people have risen out of poverty, creating a new 'neo–middle class'. Development is reaching backward regions and communities through missions for aspirational districts and blocks. Sports are now encouraged nationwide; the Khelo India policy builds an ecosystem from schools to the Olympics. I urge families to address the growing challenge of obesity. Security is paramount. We have reduced Naxal-affected districts from over 125 to just 20. Today, I announce the Sudarshan Chakra Mission - a powerful, indigenous defence system to protect strategic and civilian areas by 2035. We must remain united, free from the remnants of slavery, proud of our heritage, and committed to making Bharat developed by 2047.
