Volusia County Schools deploys new gun detection AI
The new software is called ZeroEyes. It will work by layering onto the schools' current digital cameras. If a gun is detected, the video will be fed back to the company's operations center, which is staffed by military and law enforcement veterans.
The county says this will add another critical layer of protection.
'Our goal is to be a trailblazer for school safety in Florida,' Volusia County Schools Superintendent Carmen Balgobin said in a news release. 'After seeing the Daytona Beach Police Department's success with ZeroEyes, we conducted a thorough evaluation of the technology. We began piloting it in a few of our schools and quickly recognized the critical value it provides. We want our students to focus on learning, building friendships, and preparing for their futures, rather than worrying about their safety.'

Astronauts in quarantine ahead of Axiom-4 mission to ISS
The crew members of Axiom-4 are in quarantine ahead of their launch next week to the International Space Station. The astronauts will spend two weeks aboard the ISS conducting 60 experiments during their commercial flight. The international crew will include representatives from the United States, India, Poland, and Hungary. It will be led by veteran astronaut Peggy Whitson. 'Each mission we have builds on the last, expanding our capabilities and deepening our understanding of how we can sustainably live and work in space,' Whitson said Tuesday at a news conference. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will be used to launch the mission from Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX set to launch GPS satellite from Florida's Space Coast, weather permitting
SpaceX crews are preparing for a Falcon 9 rocket launch on Friday from Florida's Space Coast. SpaceX is targeting 1:23 p.m. for the launch of a next-generation GPS satellite. Officials said GPS III-7 is designed to enhance the accuracy and security of the Global Positioning System that powers everything from smartphones to military systems. The GPS III-7 satellite, part of the U.S. Space Force's modernization efforts, will be delivered to orbit where it will join a constellation of satellites. This mission continues SpaceX's rapid-fire launch cadence. This will be the 5th rocket launch for SpaceX this week, including three Starlink launches and the 9th test flight of its Starship mega rocket. SpaceX is also continuing to focus on its cost-saving reusable rockets. The first-stage booster for this launch has already flow for three other missions, including CRS-32, NROL-69, and a Starlink deployment. After the launch, SpaceX will one again attempt to launch the first-sage booster on its droneship, 'A Shortfall of Gravitas,' in the Atlantic Ocean.
