Taylor Swift Takes Kelce Brothers' Podcast To New Heights

Taylor Swift Takes Kelce Brothers' Podcast To New Heights

Forbes6 hours ago
In the big scheme of podcast guests, it's hard to get bigger than Taylor Swift. And that's exactly what New Heights – hosted by Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce with his brother, Jason – was banking on when the idea to have Taylor announce her new album on the show was hatched.
However, rather than simply leveraging Swift's appearance into a flash-in-the-pan viral moment, New Heights is already building out an impressive case study in how to turn big moments into lasting momentum.
Instant Success On Instagram
New Heights' Instagram Reels have generated 566 million views since the start of 2025, according to data provided by Tubular Labs. And an impressive 244 million of those came from Aug. 11-13, when the Swift promotion cycle started.
The Life of a Showgirl announcement clip (with blurred cover art) alone delivered 161 million views – making it not only the No. 1 video by far for New Heights this year, but also the No. 1 U.S. Instagram reel over the last week. The show maximized the lead-up to the episode with seven separate Instagram Reels to drum up interest and acquire new viewers.
Not coincidentally, by Wednesday afternoon, New Heights was the No. 1 podcast on Apple. Before the new episode even aired. The Daily Beast reported the episode had 1.3 million live viewers on YouTube over the first hour, which was 500K more than Donald Trump's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience had last fall.
Now that Swift has appeared on the show once, it's unlikely that the Swifties (and other interested parties) that flocked to New Heights are all suddenly unsubscribing. Instagram audiences for New Heights and Swift overlapped by just 13% over the last six months. Even losing half of that number is a significant upswing for the show.
Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Are Power Of Power Couples
Celebrity power couples have long been able to parlay their respective individual successes into even greater returns together. While Jay-Z and Beyoncé may be the most notable case, there are many more who have also been able to maintain and grow wealth as a collective brand unto themselves.
As a billionaire, Taylor Swift doesn't need assistance from a partner in the wealth department. But her successful empire still finds new ways to maximize revenues via a carefully curated public persona, limited interviews and minimal brand partnerships.
Swift has been dating Kelce since the summer of 2023, and only now is she appearing on New Heights (started in 2022). That's not casting aspersions at all. Rather, it's pointing out that the spot was carefully chosen in a way that bundles Kelce into a larger part of Swift's collective success, here via the new album announcement.
Kelce's various endorsement deals are a residual part of their relationship, too. But this episode of New Heights is arguably the launch of the public Swift/Kelce franchise as a larger financial machine that outwardly works to fuel each other's successes (something they both benefit from in the end).
Kelce isn't going to play football forever, and retirement speculation has peppered the last couple off-seasons. One way to keep his upward momentum going is to make sure his podcast retains (and grows) relevance beyond football. The specter of a possible Swift relationship nugget, or even surprise guest appearance, certainly helps there.
Latest Glow-Up For Podcasts
It's been a big year for podcasts, as video's role has exploded, more celebrities have started shows and the revenues climb well past $7 billion for the entire industry.
Swift's appearance on New Heights doesn't change the fortunes of podcasting in the short-term. But in the long-term, it sparks ideas that could extend to other crossover collaborations, album announcements, surprise celebrity drop-ins and more.
Video podcasts are rapidly becoming the new equivalent of TV talk shows for many viewers, so it's natural that they'd eventually become more event-ized in the same way TV is. By arguably starting at the top of what's possible in terms of resonance (with Swift), the use of celebrity within this episode and its promo cycle has the potential to pull the whole industry up with it.
At minimum, expect to be seeing New Heights as a bigger fixture of the larger podcast ecosystem going forward as it starts pushing the boundaries of what a 'sports' show and audience looks like.

Brandon Blackstock's death certificate says seizures played significant role

More details of the death of Brandon Blackstock, the talent manager and former husband of Kelly Clarkson, have come to light ahead of his Aug. 17 memorial service. A death certificate, officially filed Thursday in Butte, Montana, confirmed the 48-year-old died of natural causes related to malignant melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer. But the father of four, who battled cancer for three years, also suffered from seizures. They were listed as 'significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause,' according to the documents obtained by TMZ and People. Blackstock died on Aug. 7 at his home in Butte while under hospice care, according to the Silver Bow County coroner, who initially confirmed the details of his cancer to People. Though Blackstock was known for overseeing the careers of Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton and at one time Clarkson, his death certificate listed his occupation as a producer in the rodeo industry. The documents also confirmed that an autopsy was not performed and that Blackstock was cremated. An online obituary for Blackstock made no mention of Clarkson, but did name her former production assistant Brittney Marie Jones — referring to her his 'beautiful and loving partner in life and business.' According to Us Weekly, an insider revealed that Jones 'moved to Montana' and helped Blackstock build his Valley View Rodeo in 2023. Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013. The couple later welcomed two children — daughter River, now 11, and son Remington, 9 — before the 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' singer filed for divorce in 2020. Following a messy legal battle, the pair finalized their divorce in March 2022. Prior to his relationship with the Grammy and Daytime Emmy winner, Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashworth from 2001 to 2012, with whom he shared 23-year-old daughter Savannah and 18-year-old son Seth. He was expecting his third grandchild before his death.

Damar Hamlin reveals new tattoo inspired by cardiac arrest incident

Behind every tattoo is a story – and Damar Hamlin's is a doozy. The Buffalo Bills safety is showing off some new ink ahead of the 2025 NFL season, which will be his second since suffering cardiac arrest on the field in Cincinnati. His new art, created by famed tattoo artist Ganga, which covers Hamlin's entire back, works to convey everything about the happenings on the field from that January day. When Hamlin woke up following the near-fatal incident, he famously asked, "Did we win?" Those words are featured prominently on Hamlin's back, surrounded by a "Monday Night Football" logo along with words of encouragement and a "Pray for Damar" flag. Ganga also added a Paycor Stadium element to the entire display, which was famously the site of Hamlin's cardiac arrest. Coupled with plenty of No. 3's, the tattoo managed to accomplish just about every element of the incident. Hamlin's heart stopped after making a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals on "Monday Night Football" on Jan. 2, 2023. He briefly got up and then fell to the ground, prompting a rush of medical personnel onto the field. After providing CPR, Hamlin was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance. The game was suspended and postponed. In the meantime, Hamlin spent time on a ventilator before being able to talk to his family and breathe on his own on Jan. 6. It was an unforgettable moment in NFL history, one that Hamlin would never forget, especially. Now he has the entire story on his back. Relationship coach reveals the shocking reason why it might be your fault for getting cheated on

It's not you, it's me. There are various reasons why someone cheats in a relationship. One relationship coach recently pointed out a jaw-dropping reason that will probably make many people reevaluate their role in their romantic relationships. During a recent interview on Jay Shetty's 'On Purpose' podcast, Sadia Khan said that it can be the person who got cheated on's fault for the infidelity in the relationship because they didn't pay attention to specific signs. Advertisement Relationship coach Sadia Khan is known for her no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is relationship advice. Jay Shetty Podcast Before you freak out over this advice — Khan does actually make a valid point. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. The expert reminded listeners that it's crucial to pay attention to how someone acts — as red flags often reveal themselves early on. Advertisement 'People don't usually lie. They may say lies, but they'll show you their red flags, pretty much from day one,' Khan told Shetty, '…it might be that you caught them in a few lies when you first got with them. You would've caught some sign that this person is capable of deeper lies.' Oftentimes, people in relationships know the other person better than they know themselves — and Khan said to keep that in mind if you suspect infidelity from your significant other. Paying attention to these signs is key when trying to figure out if there's infidelity in your relationship. eldarnurkovic – Advertisement 'If you pay close attention to your partner, then it's quite difficult for them to live a whole double life without you catching on,' she explained. Another hot take from Khan is that men often get cheated on for loosening the reins too much with the women they're dating or married to. ''So whenever a man comes to me who's been cheated on, he'll tell me, 'I never stopped her from doing anything. I allowed to go on holidays whenever she wanted, I allowed her to come home whenever she wanted, she could post whatever she wanted on Instagram and she still cheated on me!' 'And I say to them, 'Duh!'' she explained. Advertisement Another unexpected way you can catch your partner in the act is by paying attention to random, innocent-looking emojis that could be a dead giveaway they're cheating. Croissant or padlock emojis might seem harmless, but according to private investigator Paul Jones from ARF Private Investigators, they might mean something more devastating. 'We've had people using a croissant emoji as a way of saying 'meet me for breakfast,' or the letter emoji as a subtle 'text me when you're free,'' Jones told the Sun. 'Used once or twice, they don't mean much,' he told the outlet. 'But when you see them appearing regularly in chats with the same person, especially late at night, they start to mean something more.'
