Cognizant to invest ₹1,500 cr in Andhra, pledges to create 8,000 jobs
Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday said that IT major Cognizant will set up a major campus here with an over Rs 1,500 crore investment, creating 8,000 jobs in three phases on a 22-acre site at Kapuluppada IT Hills.
Lokesh said the government approved the project to position Andhra Pradesh as a global technology hub and promote digital skilling in tier-2 cities.
"We welcome Cognizant to Vizag. This investment will accelerate regional growth and future-ready workforce development," said Lokesh in a release.
Cognizant's presence is expected to boost the regional digital economy, enhance tech skills, and benefit from Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure, business-friendly policies, and IT and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) sectors support, said the minister.
Cognizant will begin operations by early 2026 from a temporary facility for 800 staff until Phase-I of the permanent campus is ready by early 2029, said the release.
"We are proud to expand in the port city and thank the government for its progressive support," said Cognizant CEO S Ravi Kumar in the release.
Kumar said the city offers abundant talent and strong infrastructure, fitting into the firm's broader strategy of investing in high-potential regional locations.
The campus aims to build an inclusive, innovation-driven digital workforce and support Cognizant's global transformation delivery capabilities, he said.
According to the release, India remains central to Cognizant's operations, with more than 70 per cent of its 3,36,300 global associates based across various Indian delivery locations.

Even if no more the king it once was, demand for cash remains strong, despite the strides taken in digital payments. The inherent contradiction should not be difficult to resolve, given the rate of economic growth that fuels demand for both cash and cashless transactions. Inflation has an impact on demand for cash by affecting the opportunity cost of holding it. Demographics, too, plays a role. Older people prefer to deal in cash over tech-enabled payment mechanisms. Degree of formalisation of the economy also has a bearing, with financial exclusion acting as a constraint to cashless transactions. India is part of a global phenomenon of rising demand for cash, including in advanced economies with almost universal access to banking services. Further integration into the global economy will create demand for Indian currency outside the country, even as current domestic factors lose some of their significance.

Sharma dials Punjab CM over Ferozepur feeder project
Jaipur: CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Wednesday dialled Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to discuss progress of Ferozepur Feeder Reconstruction Project. This is likely to expedite the feeder reconstruction work crucial for Rajasthan farmers in Gang Canal area. Sharma said the Gang Canal system, the lifeline of the northwestern region, especially Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh, will be strengthened. The feeder reconstruction project was approved by Central Water Commission in April with Punjab sharing 58.5% and Rajasthan 41.5% of the total project cost of Rs 647.6 cr. Reconstruction of the feeder will increase its capacity from 11,192 cusecs to 13,842 cusecs, allowing water which flows to Pakistan in monsoon to be conserved in Gang Canal area. tnn

With 92% NTSC and 100% sRGB colour coverage, visuals appear vibrant and colourful. We watched a few episodes of Game of Thrones, and the OLED panel delivered deep blacks and punchy highlights. The 60 Hz refresh rate also made scrolling through our picture-heavy group chat feel buttery smooth. Whether used for light creative tasks or casual entertainment, the display maintains clarity, even in well-lit rooms. Touch support isn't included, but for those who prioritise colour accuracy and brightness in a compact form factor, this screen delivers. Performance and AI Features Under the hood, the Swift Neo is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 5 processor paired with Intel Arc Graphics. The variant we tested had 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, offering responsive performance across daily workloads. We ran multiple tabs on Chrome, edited documents, and jumped into occasional light gaming sessions like Minecraft and Valorant, and it delivered all without stutters or overheating. These features make it suitable for hybrid workers and students concerned about security. Acer Swift Neo AI Laptop: Features That Make It Future-Ready! The onboard audio is decent for a laptop of this size—clear mids and highs, though low-end punch is limited. It's sufficient for calls and casual content viewing. Plugging in external headphones can improve the listening experience for those seeking better audio immersion. Connectivity-wise, it supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, ensuring reliable speeds and pairing. Dual USB-C full-function ports add versatility for accessories and fast data transfer.
