They don't come much better than Philadelphia Eagles star Landon Dickerson. Entering year five, he has already been named to three Pro Bowl rosters.

They don't come much tougher than Landon Dickerson either. 24 hours after he sustained an injury at Philly's open practice, good news has come about his timetable for return.
Landon Dickerson could return for Eagles Week 1 opener per report
Worry set in after the report surfaced of Landon Dickerson's MRI. The diagnosis was a meniscus injury, and the original theories suggested he could miss anything from a few weeks to a few months.
Conversations about meniscus injuries can vary based on who the injured party is. It's equally possible that someone could be sidelined for a few weeks or require season-ending surgery.
Be encouraged though. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there are now theories suggesting he could return to the lineup by opening day.

Considering the circumstances and based on how his pas few days have played out, everyone should feel pretty good this morning. This is about as fantastic a report as can be received.

Contingency plans with Landon Dickerson on the shelf
The Birds have also lost Kenyon Green for the foreseeable future. He was injured during the preseason opener. He's being evaluated on a 'week-to-week' basis. His preseason is, more than likely, done which begs the question.
What are the plans for Philly at guard until their Pro Bowl guard is ready for action again?
Philly selected Trevor Keegan with a fifth-round draft choice last season. He was a healthy scratch for 16 of the Eagles' 17 regular-season games and all four postseason contests. He has recently gotten snaps at guard and center but has also missed time with a back injury.
Brett Toth seems to be the backup left guard currently as he has gotten the snaps during training camp behind Dickerson. Tyler Steen, currently the favorite to win the right guard spot seems to be the best among this group of young guards at playing on both the left and right side with equal proficiency.

He could play on the left side if Dickerson can't return by Week 1, but history has taught us Jeff Stoutland would rather not move two guys to fix one issue. Moving Steen means Coach Stout then has to find another starting right guard again.
Drew Kendall is listed as a guard/center hybrid, but he has only taken snaps this summer as a backup center. Darian Kinnard and Matt Pryor have split second-team reps at right guard. That being said, the best option for replacing Dickerson currently seems to be allowing Toth to occupy those snaps until further notice.

Jalen Hurts Getting Praised for What He Did on Sunday

Jalen Hurts Getting Praised for What He Did on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles began their quest for back-to-back Super Bowl championships on Thursday when they took on the Cincinnati Bengals in their first preseason game of 2025. They outscored the Bengals 17-0 in the second quarter and scored 20 straight points spanning the second and third quarters, allowing them to come up with a 34-27 victory. While Cincinnati played a few starters, including quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni elected not to do the same. But Eagles fans got a glimpse of QB1 Jalen Hurts at practice on Sunday, and he ended up doing something kind and attentive for his team's fans. Jalen Hurts Stuck Around After Practice and Spent Time With Fans In a heartwarming moment, Hurts was seen taking time following practice, signing autographs for fans who were present. Users on X applauded Hurts for being so connected with Eagles supporters and taking time out of his schedule to make them happy. "He's a good guy," wrote one user. "That's really cool," wrote another user. "If you hate on this man you must hate your life," a third fan wrote. "I was on the other side of the field like a dummy lol," another fan wrote, mourning the missed opportunity. "I wish I were there," a fifth user wrote. "This is the jersey I need," another fan wrote. Like many NFL players and other pro athletes, Hurts has a history of doing good work in the community to help others. He is an advocate for women's sports, and in fact, every member of his management team is female. According to a 2021 ESPN article, he participated in the NFL's "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative to advocate for more women to get involved in sports. He did so by wearing cleats for a game versus the New York Jets that brought attention to tennis legend Billie Jean King's Women's Sports Foundation, which she founded in 1974 "to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity." Can the Eagles Fly Above the Rest of the NFL Again This Season? Right now, many are predicting Philly to come out of the NFC and play in the Super Bowl once again. However, the team isn't the favorite to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They have largely the same core on offense, along with the former Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon backing up reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. But there have been some changes on defense. Pass rushers Josh Sweat and Bryce Huff, cornerback Darius Slay and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson left during the offseason. That means that youngsters such as Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean will need to step things up. All three did well last year, and they will need to continue with that type of trajectory in order to bring another world championship to the City of Brotherly story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Seahawks attempt their version of a "Tush Push" with Jalen Milroe

There is no play in the NFL these days that generates as much conversation (or controversy) as the "tush push" for quarterbacks. This of course has been thrust into the forefront of discussion due to the Philadelphia Eagles' incredible success with it over the last few seasons. The "tush push" has often been attempted by other teams, but rarely has it been replicated with any semblance of success like Philly. Well, that is until Friday, August 15th, 2025 I suppose. The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their Week 2 preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs and sent their first team offense on the field to start the game. Seattle faced a 3rd-and-1 at their own 41-yard line, and unveiled a rather unusual formation. Starting quarterback Sam Darnold lined up in the backfield. Under center was none other than rookie Jalen Milroe, who was shoved over the line to convert the first down, and the Seahawks would eventually score a touchdown six plays later. Ever since Jalen Milroe was drafted, head coach Mike Macdonald has been adamant about two things: Sam Darnold will be the starter, but Jalen Milroe will play. Naturally, the use of Milroe's legs seems to be the most logical way to incorporate his unique skillset into the offense. Perhaps this is a taste of what might be on the horizon for Seattle in 2025. Buffalo Bills, running back James Cook agree to 4-year, $48M extension

Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Bills agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract extension with James Cook, the Pro Bowl running back confirmed Wednesday on social media. The pact includes $30 million guaranteed, the most paid to a running back in the last five years. Cook, 25, was entering the final year of his rookie contract. The fourth-year running back totaled a career-high 1,567 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns over 17 games in 2023. He totaled 1,267 yards from scrimmage and scored 18 times, including a league-high and franchise record-tying 16 rushing touchdowns, over 16 starts in 2024. Cook was in full uniform and a full participant in practice Tuesday, ending a four-day hold-in. He also missed the Bills' first preseason game. The Bills will participate in a joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Friday in Chicago, and the Bears will host the Bills in their second preseason game at 8 p.m. EDT Sunday in Chicago. They will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their preseason finale Aug. 23 in Tampa, Fla. Cook and the Bills will host the Baltimore Ravens in their regular season opener Sept. 7 in Orchard Park, N.Y.
