Verona 0-2 Cagliari: Pavoletti practically guarantees safety
Veteran striker Leonardo Pavoletti and a late Alessandro Deiola counter gave Cagliari a potentially decisive victory for their Serie A safety, while Daniele Ghilardi saw red for Verona.
This was a huge fixture between two teams eager to make the definitive leap away from the drop zone. Both were coming off defeats, Hellas succumbing 1-0 to Roma with Pawel Dawidowicz, Casper Tengstedt and Abdou Harroui injured. The Sardinians lost Yerry Mina and had Roberto Piccoli suspended, but Alessandro Deiola returned to the squad after one point from three rounds.

Cagliari were dangerous on the counter-attack, Razvan Marin sending Zito Luvumbo clear on goal, forcing Lorenzo Montipò to come sprinting out to parry with his legs.
Verona lost Tomas Suslov too in the opening half-hour, as he limped off following treatment.

Michel Adopo nodded a Tommaso Augello corner over the bar and Cagliari took a deserved lead when Diego Coppola and Daniele Ghilardi failed to intercept the Luvumbo cross, finding veteran Leonardo Pavoletti at the far post.
Elia Caprile beat away the Ondrej Duda free kick and Lambourde's volley was off target, but Verona finished the match down to 10 men when Ghilardi was shown a straight red card for his late, high and wild tackle on Gianluca Gaetano.

Cagliari added a second deep into stoppages with a classic counter-attack, as Gaetano ran from his own half and drew out the goalkeeper, generously rolling across for Deiola's tap-in at the back post.

Will Neymar Jr play in Brazil vs Paraguay FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier?
By Aman Shukla Published on June 10, 2025, 12:23 IST As the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers heat up, all eyes are on Brazil's star-studded squad, with one question dominating discussions: Will Neymar play in the crucial Brazil vs Paraguay match scheduled for June 10, 2025? Neymar Jr., Brazil's record goalscorer, has been a focal point of speculation due to his recent injury struggles and absence from the national team. Neymar, the 33-year-old forward, has faced significant injury setbacks over the past few years. His last appearance for Brazil was in October 2023, when he suffered a devastating ACL and meniscus injury during a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. This injury sidelined him for over a year, limiting his appearances for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia and later his boyhood club, Santos, where he returned in January 2025. Since his return to Santos, Neymar has struggled with recurring muscular injuries, including a thigh injury that delayed his comeback. Most recently, reports surfaced on June 8, 2025, indicating that Neymar tested positive for COVID-19, further complicating his availability for upcoming matches. These health challenges have raised doubts about his participation in Brazil's qualifier against Paraguay. Brazil's Squad Under Carlo Ancelotti Brazil's new head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, announced his first 25-man squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay on May 26, 2025, and Neymar was notably absent. Ancelotti explained that Neymar's recent return from injury and lack of full fitness were the reasons for his exclusion. However, the Italian coach emphasized that Neymar remains a key part of his plans for the 2026 World Cup, stating, 'We are counting on him. He came back to Brazil to play and prepare for the World Cup.' Brazil's squad for the qualifiers includes stars like Vinicius Jr., Casemiro, and Alisson, but the absence of Neymar and Real Madrid's Rodrygo has sparked debate among fans. Ancelotti's decision reflects a cautious approach, prioritizing Neymar's long-term recovery to ensure he's in peak condition for the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Inter decide to sign Zalewski permanently
Inter have decided to activate the buy option and make Nicola Zalewski's signing permanent. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will sign Zalewski to a permanent contract, thus guaranteeing Roma a revenue of €6.5 million. Advertisement Despite the change on the bench and the departure of Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri management wanted to confirm their faith in the player, focusing on him as an important player for the future. For Roma, this is a useful operation to raise money, especially in view of new investments to be made on the market. After the revenue from the sales of Le Fée and Dahl, this is another strategic entry that allows the club to operate with greater margin on incoming negotiations. Meanwhile, Zalewski leaves the capital once and for all and prepares for a new chapter in his career.

(Photo by) According to FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri are looking at a couple of players from Chivu's former side Parma as candidates to sign this summer and allow the coach to put his own stamp on the team. Advertisement Firstly, there is striker Ange-Yoan Bonny. The Frenchman had already been a target for Inter. And as FCIN note, Parma had in fact asked Inter for Francesco Pio Esposito as part of talks for Bonny. However, that had been while Chivu was still at the helm/ Therefore, FCIN note, Chivu will want to have a look at Pio Esposito in training before he makes any decisions on the teenage striker's future. However, the Nerazzurri are far from the only club tracking Leoni. AC Milan, Juventus, and Bournemouth have all shown an interest in the 18-year-old.
