Ana de Armas offloads $5m+ pad as Tom Cruise romance heats up
The 37-year-old actress managed to secure the full asking price for the picturesque pad, which is located in New York's trendy SoHo neighbourhood.
According to Realtor, the 'Blonde' star purchased the unit back in 2021 for $US2.9 million ($A4.4 million).
Not long after buying the abode, de Armas listed it for the first time, initially putting it on the market in August 2023 for $US4.3 million ($A6.5 million), before lowering that ask to $US3.99 million ($A6.07 million) in March of the following year.
The home was temporarily removed from the market in June 2024, before returning in February with a new price —$US3.5 million ($A5.3 million) — for which the property has now sold, as first reported by Architectural Digest.
De Armas' latest real estate sale comes just a few years after she made the decision to move out to Vermont in a bid to live a quieter life.
Speaking with E! News last year, the 'Ballerina' star revealed that she wanted to escape 'the craziness of the world.'
'I feel like nowadays, we all want to go away from the craziness of the world,' she said at the time.
'We all want to have the chance to build your own safe space. I've made that decision myself.'
While the ' No Time to Die ' actress has kept details about her Vermont dwelling closely guarded, she did share a few anecdotes about the home, describing it as a 'cocoon.'
'I found a home where I really feel off the grid,' she explained.
'I can collect myself and only bring there who I want to be with. I have my little cocoon there.'
De Armas' off-grid getaway was purchased by the star for $US7.2 million ($A10.9 million) in November 2022, Page Six reports.
The property boasts six bedrooms and eight bathrooms as well as stunning mountain views, a swimming pool, and access to plenty of walking trails.
Records seen by Realtor indicate that the actress managed to snag a bit of a deal on the dwelling, which was originally listed for $US7.5 million ($A11.4 million).
The description noted that the house was being offered fully furnished.
Built in 2008, the luxury two-storey home offers multiple fireplaces; a modern kitchen with a dishwasher, double oven, and wine fridge; and a primary suite with a luxe bath, walk-in closet, and sauna.
An Instagram post from the actress shows her enjoying the rustic splendour of her new home.
She posted images of glorious trees with golden foliage, a fire pit, woodsy vistas, and even an adorable four-legged friend.
The property could not be more different from de Armas' SoHo spread, which was officially sold on June 26 and offered just two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
In its listing, the loft space was described as an 'extraordinary residence … where timeless architecture meets modern sophistication,' having been given a modern makeover by famed interior designer Nate Berkus.
'At the heart of the home, the chef's kitchen is a masterpiece of design,' the description added.
'Sleek white lacquer cabinetry with brass accents, honed marble countertops, and a striking green Moroccan tile backsplash create a striking visual contrast.
'State-of-the-art Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Bosch appliances ensure a seamless cooking experience, while a generous eat-in island flows into a custom leather banquette that elegantly wraps the corner, offering an inviting dining space for up to 10 guests.
Thoughtfully placed steel-and-glass partitions provide definition while preserving the home's open, airy flow.'
Meanwhile, the primary suite was hailed as a 'tranquil retreat' complete with a spa-inspired bathroom that featured a steam shower and a soaking tub.
Though the dwelling was located in an apartment building in one of New York's busiest neighbourhoods.
It is filled with natural light throughout the day, thanks to its soaring ceilings and enormous windows.
Before snapping up the home, de Armas was understood to have been primarily based in Los Angeles.
She resided in a Venice Beach dwelling for several years — before reportedly moving in with actor Ben Affleck, with whom she was in a relationship for about a year between 2020 and 2021.
After they split, she relocated to New York, in an apparent bid to escape the endless paparazzi attention she and Affleck had been receiving in California.
Despite her quiet relocation, De Armas has been at the centre of romance rumours involving actor Tom Cruise.
The two were first spotted dining together in London in February, the New York Post reports.
The pair have since made several joint appearances, including a walk in the park on her birthday and a discreet departure from David Beckham's party.
Though neither party has confirmed the relationship, de Armas offered a hint of chemistry in a May 'Good Morning America' interview, saying the pair are 'working on a lot of' projects together and are having 'fun.'
The rumoured pairing caught attention online when Tom Cruise's ex-wife, Katie Holmes, appeared to like an Instagram post about the developing relationship.
Her subtle nod drew commentary from fans, with one Reddit user joking, 'Celebs, sometimes they're just like us, stalking and accidentally liking posts about their exes.'
De Armas' high-profile dating history includes brief romances with Tinder executive Paul Boukadakis and Manuel Anido Cuesta, stepson of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega reveals ‘horrific' pitfall of fame
At just 22, Jenna Ortega has achieved an immense level of fame thanks to her starring role in Netflix's most-watched show of all time. But the Wednesday star, who is promoting the upcoming second season of the Tim Burton-directed thriller series, has revealed her struggle with the extreme attention that comes with the job. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter alongside Burton, Ortega was speaking about the much-discussed 'death of the movie star' era, crediting this ideal to overexposure. 'We know too much,' Ortega said. 'And the people feel entitled to those bits and pieces of your life where if they were put under the same microscope, they wouldn't feel nearly as comfortable. 'Sometimes you go out, and it's a mess,' Ortega continued, adding she's 'always scared' when she gets recognised in the street. 'Somebody shouting your name in public is insane,' the star said. 'Sometimes I feel uncomfortable when it's grown men approaching me. [And] sometimes people shout vile things.' 'Like, you don't stop for somebody because you're going to be late for something and they're calling you a 'c***, w****' in front of your mother. 'It's horrific.' Elsewhere in the interview, Ortega also said she feels 'incredibly misunderstood' by the public. 'I think that's part of my struggle with that side of this job. It's almost to a point where it feels like your name doesn't belong to you,' she said. 'I almost don't even resonate with it anymore. I hate assumptions, and a big part of this job is that people are going to make assumptions about you.' Her remarks came after the interviewer asked Ortega about her controversial comments on an episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast in 2023, in which she copped backlash for saying she 'had to put my foot down' with 'changing lines', leading many to dub it disrespectful towards the show's writers. Responding to the furore, Ortega told THR, 'I mean, I felt terrible.' She continued, 'In no way did I mean to come across that way. I spend a lot of time in my head and I have all these different trains of thought, and all I needed to say was, 'I improvise.' 'Also, nobody, before, ever cared what I said. It was a good lesson.' Wednesday season 2 will be released on Netflix in two parts, first on August 6 and then on September 3. It's already been renewed for a third season.

Sophie Cachia and Madison Prespakis' bold property move
Melbourne entrepreneur, author and influencer Sophie Cachia has listed her fully renovated Tullamarine home as she prepares to buy with AFLW star Madison Prespakis. Cachia, who has a combined social media following of more than 300,000 across Instagram and TikTok, is known for her bold personal style, parenting content and outspoken takes on relationships and identity. Her partner, Madison Prespakis, is a midfielder for Essendon in the AFLW and a former Carlton star who won the league's Best and Fairest in 2020 aged 19. 'Small' Melbourne house scores $5m deal Ms Cachia, who co-parents three children, said the home had been the perfect base during a period of growth in both her personal and professional life — but the time was right to move on. 'Maddy and I will definitely be buying together, it's not about proving anything to anyone else, we're just really aligned in what we want,' she said. 'Whether it's near family or by the beach, as long as we're together, that's all that really matters.' Her four-bedroom home, which features a monochrome palette, premium appliances and a designer double ensuite, was purchased in 2021 and completely overhauled under Cachia's direction and has $900,000-$990,000 price hopes. Perth-based interior stylist and director of 13 Interiors Kelly Donougher, helped Ms Cachia design the home with a black-and-white aesthetic. 'I wasn't even really looking to buy, I just went to the open home, saw the potential, and completely fell in love with it,' Ms Cachia said. 'I literally rang Kelly while I was standing inside and said, 'If I buy this, will you help me style it? 'We were so aligned from the get-go. 'That strong monochrome look, I've always loved it. I knew exactly what I wanted this home to feel like.' The centrepiece of the renovation is the oversized ensuite in the main bedroom, complete with double vanities, a double shower, and a custom step built with young children in mind. 'I'm someone who doesn't really use the bedroom for anything other than sleep, so I wanted the ensuite to be the wow factor,' Ms Cachia said. 'That whole front section of the house became a sanctuary. I'll miss it so much.' Other highlights include two living areas, a walk-in dressing room, integrated appliances, secure gated entry and a low-maintenance backyard with a private pool. Matthews Real Estate director John Matthews said the home was one of the suburb's most stylish offerings, with interest already building among buyers who will recognise the value of a finished renovation. 'You walk in and it just hits you — it's chic,' Mr Matthews said. 'It's not the kind of renovation you see in Tullamarine every day. Replicating this would cost well above the current guide.' The four-bedroom residence is scheduled to go under the hammer on August 23.

'Star Wars' creator George Lucas to hit Comic-Con for first time
Comic-Con kicks off Thursday in San Diego, California, with expectations running high among devoted fans keen to catch a glimpse of George Lucas at his first-ever appearance at the convention. Other expected highlights of the gathering -- one of the world's biggest celebrations of pop culture -- include the world premiere of the prequel series "Alien: Earth." Comic-Con began holding events in San Diego in 1970, as a low-key and rather niche huddle, but has now grown to an annual get-together that attracts 130,000 people eager to hear behind-the-scenes tidbits from Hollywood stars and directors unveiling their latest projects. This year's edition will be marked by the presence of legendary filmmaker Lucas, who has never visited the convention before despite Comic-Con culture being deeply rooted in his "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" franchises. In a session on Sunday set to be moderated by Queen Latifah, Lucas will discuss the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art with Mexican director Guillermo del Toro and Oscar-winning artist Doug Chiang, who has shaped the iconic "Star Wars" universe for decades. The museum, scheduled to open in Los Angeles next year, will be dedicated to illustrated narratives and will house the Lucas archive. "Nearly five decades ago, Star Wars made one of its earliest public appearances at our convention, along with a booth featuring (comic book artist) Howard Chaykin's now legendary Star Wars poster as a promotional item," said David Glanzer, Chief Communications and Strategy Officer. "Now, to have Mr. Lucas... is a true full-circle moment. His lifelong dedication to visual storytelling and world-building resonates deeply with us and our community." - Alien, Predator, and the End of the World - Marvel Studios will have a smaller presence at the convention this year, skipping its eagerly awaited annual presentation in Hall H. According to Variety, changes to the premiere of the new "Avengers" installment complicated logistics for the studio, whose cast is currently filming in Britain. Despite this notable absence, events at coveted Hall H still promise great excitement for fans of science fiction, a core genre of the convention. On Friday, it will host the world premiere of the pilot episode of the prequel "Alien: Earth," directed by Noah Hawley and slated to hit streaming platforms in August. The series takes place a couple of years before the events depicted in Ridley Scott's 1979 film "Alien," offering an expansion of the venerated franchise. Another fan favorite that will have its moment in the spotlight is "Predator: Badlands," with a panel Friday set to include director Dan Trachtenberg, who revitalized the brand with "Prey" (2022). Joining him will be stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, who plays the predator Dek. The panel is expected to reveal more from the production, which centers the predator as prey, not hunter, for the first time. On Saturday, award-winning actor Ryan Gosling and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (behind the new "Spider-Verse" trilogy) will present their "Project Hail Mary," which is due in theaters next year. The film, based on the book by Andy Weir ("The Martian"), follows Ryland Grace (Gosling), a former science teacher who wakes up on a spaceship to discover he's on a mission to save the Earth. Another buzzed-about presentation is for the highly anticipated second season of "Peacemaker," in which James Gunn ("Superman") and his cast are expected to offer sneak peeks. But it won't all be deadly serious -- thousands of those in attendance will come dressed as princesses, warriors, aliens and other characters from the pantheon of pop culture. Comic-Con runs from Thursday to Sunday, July 27.
