Urging the I-T Department to accelerate disposal of disputed tax demands pending before faceless appellate authorities and ensure timely resolution of litigation backlog, she said the Department should identify and withdraw departmental appeals falling below the revised monetary thresholds announced in Union Budget 2024-25 within 3 months.
'Ensure timely processing of tax refunds and proactive and timely resolution of taxpayer grievances. Analyse the grievances and devise strategies not only to resolve the existing pendency but also to address the challenges that are causing the grievances in the first place,' she said at an event here on the occasion of the 166th Income Tax Day.
She also requested the Department to undertake region-wise performance reviews to help identify factors hindering performance and streamline operations through indicators such as grievance disposal, Orders Giving Effect (OGE) issuance, rectification completion and processing of condonation cases under Section 119.
The Finance Minister also congratulated the Department for its commendable work in efficiently drafting the New Income Tax Bill, 2025 within the stipulated timeline. She appreciated that the Department is actively addressing the recommendations received from the Select Committee.
Looking ahead, the Finance Minister emphasised the importance of continuing this momentum, reaffirming the potential for further technological advancements to enhance consistent and efficient service delivery.
She encouraged the Department to reaffirm its duty to serve taxpayers with fairness, empathy and professionalism, earning public trust not just through policy but through conduct.
'The CBDT must ensure that we provide adequate support to the staff and officers in terms of better workspaces and residential accommodations, so they don't have to commute in difficult situations and conditions. I would emphasise that the CBDT and the Department of Revenue prioritise the swift development of family accommodations and improved workspaces,' said the Finance Minister.

Prayagraj: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the tentative vacancy list for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL)-2025, announcing a total of 14,582 posts to be filled in various central ministries, departments and organisations. These appointments will be made to Group 'B' and Group 'C' level posts, offering significant job opportunities for graduates aspiring to enter govt service. According to the details provided by the commission, out of the total vacancies, 6,183 posts are unreserved. For reserved categories, 2,167 vacancies were allocated to Scheduled Castes (SC), 1,088 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 3,721 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 1,423 for candidates from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). The recruitment drive is among the largest announced by the SSC in recent years and will be conducted through a rigorous selection process. Online applications for CGL-2025 were accepted till July 4. Besides, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) will also recruit 197 ASOs, while the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will appoint 682 assistant section officers in its CSS cadre. The largest number of vacancies—6,753—was announced for officer superintendents under the CBDT, making it the most substantial recruitment on the list. Other positions include 1,174 auditors in the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), 93 sub-inspectors in CBI, 14 sub-inspectors in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and 30 narcotics sub-inspectors in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). In a related development, SSC also released the admit cards and examination city information for the stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' examination-2025. ACME group to supply 75,000 tonnes of green ammonia under SIGHT scheme
ACME Group , a clean energy firm, on Friday said it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. ( SECI ) for a green ammonia production project. Under this, the firm will supply 75,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia to Paradeep Phosphates, one of India's largest chemicals and fertiliser companies. According to a press release, the agreed price for green ammonia supply at the delivery point is set at ₹55.75 per kilogram. The green ammonia will be delivered to Paradeep Phosphates' facility in Paradeep, Odisha, over a period of 10 years. ACME Group participated in the competitive reverse auction held on July 29, 2025, through its entity, ACME Cleantech Solutions. "We look forward to swiftly commissioning the facility and delivering clean ammonia to Paradeep Phosphates Limited, thereby contributing to India's rapidly evolving green energy ecosystem," said Anil Kumar Taparia, Chief Operating Officer of ACME Group's Green Hydrogen & Ammonia SBU. The project award falls under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Scheme Mode-2A, Tranche-I.
