Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson reacts to Luka Doncic's intense physical transformation
Luka Doncic has turned heads this summer with a physique that looks drastically different from the one fans saw last season. After a tumultuous year, the 26-year-old NBA star made a powerful statement through his body, and no one seemed more impressed than Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson.
The Hall of Famer took to social media to applaud Doncic's apparent commitment to winning in L.A., calling it a tone-setting move.
Magic Johnson hails Luka Doncic's dedication
Magic Johnson recently took to x to share his honest thoughts on Luka Doncic's transformation. 'I love how Luka is showing his Laker teammates how serious he is about winning a championship in Los Angeles by transforming his body!' he wrote on X.
In a follow-up post, Johnson added, 'When a guy comes to LA and totally transforms his body, you know he's not just talking about winning, he's showing it. That's how you set the tone in the locker room and let your teammates know it's time to chase a championship together!'
Doncic graced the cover of Men's Health this offseason, revealing a regimen that included a gluten-free, low-sugar diet, intermittent fasting, and over 250 grams of protein a day.
But it wasn't just about nutrition. According to his physiotherapist Javier Barrio, Doncic began his offseason training without even touching a basketball, focusing first on strength and conditioning. He didn't return to on-court work until June.
A disappointing first-round playoff exit and an injury-plagued season that saw him suit up in just 50 games after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Anthony Davis.
The Slovenian guard still averaged an impressive 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists while shooting 45% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc.
Los Angeles Lakers are building the roster around Luka Doncic
With LeBron James now 40, the Lakers are banking on Doncic as both their present and future. The front office has been aggressive, adding defensive ace Marcus Smart and center Deandre Ayton to bolster the roster, which already includes Austin Reaves, Dalton Knecht, and Rui Hachimura.
'This summer was just a little bit different, you know,' Doncic told Men's Health. 'It kind of motivated me to be even better… This is just the start. I need to keep going. Can't stop.'
If Luka's offseason is any indication, the Lakers could be gearing up for their strongest title push since 2020.

Sailors off to winning start with 2-1 victory over Real Kashmir
Indian Navy Football Team (INFT) earned a crucial 2-1 win over I-League side Real Kashmir FC (RKFC) in a closely contested Group F encounter of the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup here at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium to earn the first victory in the competition since 2021. Goals from Vijay Marandi (6') and Sreyas VG (70') ensured full points for the Sailors, while Franck William Sessegnon's 64th-minute strike proved to be a consolation for the Snow Leopards. Head coach Raman Rai's Indian Navy side lined up in a traditional 4-3-3, with Bhaskar Roy captaining from goal and the attacking trio of Sreyas V G, Roshan Panna and Vijay Marandi. Real Kashmir's Ishfaq Ahmed fielded a technically strong 4-3-2-1 setup, headlined by Russian striker Marat Tareck and midfielders Modou Mbengue and Franck William Sessegnon. The Sailors struck early in the 6th minute when Roshan Panna made a slick run down the right and delivered a low cross into the box. Vijay Marandi timed his run well and tapped it in with his knee, handing Navy the lead amid loud cheers from the local crowd. Real Kashmir responded with urgency. Sessegnon and Tareck were involved in multiple buildups, but Navy keeper Bhaskar Roy was solid between the sticks. The Snow Leopards came close on a couple of occasions, including a strong run by Tareck and a near-perfect through ball by Sessegnon to Ahteeb in the 22nd minute, but couldn't find the back of the net. Real Kashmir resumed the second half on the front foot, trying to press higher up. Their persistence paid off in the 64th minute when Sessegnon levelled the score. The Ivorian made a sharp run behind Navy's backline to latch onto a sublime long ball from Seila Toure and finished confidently past Bhaskar Roy. But the Sailors were quick to regain their lead. Just six minutes later, in the 70th minute, Roshan Panna once again turned provider. His low diagonal pass found Sreyas V G inside the right edge of the box, who finished with precision from his right foot to restore Navy's advantage at 2-1. Meanwhile, Diamond Harbour FC continued their winning run in the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup with a commanding 8-1 victory over BSF Football Club in a Group B clash, here at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan (KBK). Durand Cup: Clayton powers Diamond Harbour FC to 8-1 Win over BSF FC
Kolkata, Aug 1 (UNI ) Diamond Harbour FC continued their winning run in the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup with a commanding 8-1 victory over BSF Football Club in a Group B clash, here at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan (KBK). Brazilian striker Clayton Silva starred with four goals (2', 35', 71', 90+3') while Slovenian forward Luka Majcen netted a brace (7', 39'). Paul (53') and Jobby Justin (67') added to the tally. BSF FC's lone goal came from Kishori in the 90th minute. Diamond Harbour Football Club Head Coach Jose Antonio made four changes to his starting line-up bringing in Spanish defender Mikel Kortazar Idiakez, Lalliansanga Renthelei, goal keeper Susanta Malik and Slovenian Forward Luka Majcen in place of Wahengbam Angousana Luwang, Mirshad Koottappunna, Naro Hari Shrestha and Lalliansanga Renthlei, while BSF FC Head Coach Gurjit Singh Atwal named an experienced starting eleven in a 4-4-2 formation with Kishori and Harmandeep Singh in the attacking line. The I-League 2 champions needed just two minutes to make their intentions clear, as Clayton Silva opened the scoring with a composed right footed finish off a Jobby Justin cross. Luka Majcen doubled the lead five minutes later, smashing in after a scramble by Clayton in the box. Despite BSF's attempts to get into the game, they were largely outplayed in midfield and struggled to contain Diamond Harbour's attacking trio of Silva, Majcen, and Paul. In the 35th minute, Silva struck again with a volley from Girik's cross, after Paul and Jobby combined to create the opportunity and just four minutes later, Majcen made it 4-0 after receiving a lofted pass from the Brazilian. BSF's best first-half moment came in the 43rd minute when Kishori's shot was blocked by keeper Susnata Malik. But it was Diamond Harbour who went into the break with a dominant 4-0 lead. Jose Antonio's men picked up where they left off in the second half. Paul added the fifth in the 53rd minute, beating the BSF defense with a low drive. BSF's backline continued to struggle under pressure, and Jobby Justin scored the sixth with a powerful header from Samuel's corner in the 67th minute. Silva completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute, capitalising on a failed clearance from another corner. Though BSF pulled one back in the 90th minute through Kishori, after a neat assist by Harmandeep, it was a mere consolation. The Brazilian capped off a stellar night with his fourth goal in injury time, powering in a shot from outside the box to make it 8-1. With this emphatic win, Diamond Harbour FC moved to the top of Group B with six points and +7 goal difference from two matches, ahead of the crucial encounter against Mohun Bagan on August 9. UNI RKM
