Caitlin Clark puts on a brave face for photo with golf icon... despite missing a worrying 12th straight Indiana Fever game

Daily Mail2 days ago
Caitlin Clark was all smiles as she posed for a photo with golf icon Bubba Watson on Friday night, despite her ongoing and unprecedented struggles with a groin injury.
Until the start of the current WNBA season, Clark had a perfect injury record, never having missed a game for her entire college career and first year as a pro.
But she has been struck down by multiple issues this season, and Friday night's visit from the Washington Mystics marked her 12th straight game not being able to help her teammates.
Despite the ongoing blow, and confusion over how long she will be sidelined, Clark was able to put on a brave face for Watson and his family as they stopped by Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take in the game.
In the snap, Clark stands among the Watson clan, including Bubba's wife Angie, who herself is a former University of Georgia and WNBA professional basketball player.
In the center of the photo are the Watsons' two children, Caleb and Dakota.
Friday night's game ended in a loss for the struggling Fever, who have now slipped to an 18-16 record without their star player to help them out.
Much of the scoring was left to Aliyah Boston in the latest game, while Kelsey Mitchell chipped in with 14 points and nine assists.
LIV Golf star Watson, meanwhile, is in Indiana for the breakaway league's latest competition, at nearby 'The Club at Chatham Hills'.
The Range Goats captain is currently tied for ninth after the first day of the tournament, while Sebastian Munoz leads after a remarkable 59 left him at -12.

The US Open mixed doubles tournament has been revamped and will now take place on 19 and 20 August, preceding the main singles draws. Jack Draper, partnered with Jessica Pegula, is the top seed and will face the wild card pair of Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. The winners could face 24-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic and his partner Olga Danilovic if the Serbian pair overcome Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev. Venus Williams, at the age of 45, faces Karolina Muchova and Andrey Rublev alongside compatriot Reilly Opelka. The competition features a 16-pair event, with new rules for the tournament that include sets won by four games (excluding the final), no-advantage scoring, and a 10-point match tie-break in place of a third set.

Robert MacIntyre's eye-watering BMW prize money revealed – as ‘abysmal' start cost him extra $1.4MILLION

BOB MacINTYRE blew a four-shot lead as Open champion Scottie Scheffler won by two at the BMW Championship. The Oban left-hander had led from day one after scintillating rounds of 62, 64 and 68 in Maryland. 3 3 But he suffered a horror start to his final round as World No1 Scheffler scorched to glory. MacIntyre had bogeys at the first, second and fifth and never recovered as he hit a three-over round of 73. Scheffler led by the turn at Caves Valley and finished with a three-under 67 to grab the $3.6million winner's cheque. MacIntyre, who earned $2.16m as runner-up, edged back to within one stroke of Scheffler but dropped another shot on the 13th. Scheffler then shed a shot but birdied the 15th to restore a two-shot lead. MacIntyre, 29, halved that advantage again with his first birdie of the day on the 16th hole. But Scheffler - who has now had 17 consecutive rounds in the 60s - ended his hopes when he holed from off the green at the 17th. It was a cruel end for MacIntyre, who held on for second place ahead of Maverick McNealy. And he didn't hold back as he asssessed his final round. The Oban ace said: "I didn't feel like I controlled distance well. It was just a poor day. Watch moment Scots golf ace Robert MacIntyre wins new fans with 'pure class' gesture after US Open heartbreak "Right now, it's absolutely disastrous. Without swearing, it was abysmal. "I don't know what else to say - absolutely abysmal." The second-placed finish also guarantees MacIntyre's spot on Luke Donald's European team at next month's Ryder Cup. The Scot will tee it up at Bethpage State Park - and got into the spirit of things for that clash during his third round when he shushed a noisy fan in the crowd. But the Ryder Cup spot seemed like scant consolation for MacIntyre after coming so close - yet so far - from what would have been the biggest win of his career so far.

Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu to clash in US Open mixed doubles as draw revealed

British No 1s Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu will face each other in the first round of the revamped US Open mixed doubles. The mixed doubles has been moved to before the main tournament on 19 and 20 August, with $1m (£750,000) in prize money at stake for the winners of the 16-pair event. Draper will play with American Jessica Pegula after their original partners, Paula Badosa and Tommy Paul, both withdrew. With both inside the top five in the singles rankings, the pair have been handed the top seeding and will kick off their campaign against wild card pair Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. Only four games will be required to win a set in matches other than the final. No-advantage scoring will also be in place, meaning just four points will be needed to win a game, while a 10-point match tie-break will be played in lieu of a third set throughout the competition.
