Oman: State Council panel debates draft laws on combating human trafficking and real estate regulation
Muscat: The State Council's Legal Committee on Monday held its 13th meeting of the second regular session of the 8th term under the chairman Shaikh Sultan bin Matar al Azizi, Chairman of the committee in the presence of the members of the Committee and a number of employees of the State Council's Secretariat-General.
The committee discussed the draft law on Combating Human Trafficking which aims to keep pace with the developments in combating human trafficking as well as providing more guarantees to protect victims of human trafficking and facilitating the work of the relevant authorities in enforcing the law in cases related to human trafficking.
The committee discussed the report of the State Council's Economic and Financial Committee regarding its study of the draft law on Real Estate Regulation which aims at creating a unified legislation for the real estate sector, regulating the relationship between the stakeholders in terms of rights and duties, updating the system of existing laws that regulate the sector to keep pace with the development of the real estate market, enhancing the investment attraction to the sector and organizing the licensing mechanisms for people working in the real estate sector.

State Council reviews study on diversifying Oman's sources of income
Muscat – The State Council discussed a study titled ' Mechanism for Diversifying Sources of Income in the Sultanate of Oman' during its fifth meeting on Monday. The meeting was chaired by H E Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. The study reviewed the current state of the Omani economy and existing sources of national income. Dubai Police Launches Comprehensive Security Plan for Safe and Joyful Eid Al Adha
Dubai's Event Security Committee has confirmed full readiness to ensure a safe, smooth, and celebratory Eid Al Adha across the emirate, with an extensive security and transportation plan backed by multiple government entities. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Acting Chairperson of the Committee, announced that security operations will cover all mosques and grand prayer grounds. Hundreds of patrols and support units, including 515 security patrols, 139 ambulatory points, two helicopters, five rescue boats, and four command rooms, will be deployed across Dubai. In collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority, the plan also boosts transportation services to accommodate holiday crowds. Over 16,000 limousines, nearly 14,000 taxis, 1,240 buses, and 104 metro trains will be in operation. Seven transport control centres will monitor traffic, supported by traffic diversion units and marine transport vehicles. Healthcare readiness is also part of the plan, with 18 hospitals and clinics on standby, coordinated by a central health operations centre. Al Mazroui urged the public to call 999 for emergencies only and use 901 for non-urgent matters. He also encouraged reporting violations through the Dubai Police 'Police Eye' platform. Emphasizing public safety, he warned against reckless driving, particularly speeding, and advised jet ski users to avoid family zones along the beaches. He called on parents to supervise children in public areas and strictly avoid fireworks, citing serious injury risks and fire hazards. To foster a festive atmosphere, Dubai Police will also host sports competitions for workers in areas including Jebel Ali and Al Quoz during the first two evenings of Eid. UAE ranks first globally in telecom infrastructure, digital government framework, digital content
27 May 2025 09:30 DUBAI (WAM) The UAE has secured the top global ranking in the telecommunications infrastructure index, the institutional framework for digital government, and the digital content index, according to the second edition of the 'State of Digital Transformation Report'. The report was released by the UAE's Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation during the recent Digital Readiness report highlights the UAE government's digital achievements across 12 key sectors, including the economy, finance, human resources, health, education, community development, culture and youth, immigration and foreign affairs, security and justice, infrastructure and energy, logistics, and the bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future in the UAE Government and Chair of the Committee, said digital readiness and transformation are central to the UAE leadership's vision, aiming to eliminate bureaucracy and enhance quality of life through noted the report tracks major digital achievements over the past year, showcasing the UAE's leadership in global competitiveness indices related to digital governance. There are currently 460 active digital transformation projects across federal the digital government sector, 10.8 million individuals used the UAE Pass, which now connects to 15,000 services and supports 2.6 billion integrated digital transactions. In the economic sector, 5.2 million tax transactions were completed digitally, alongside 316,800 certificates of origin and 64,100 trademark registration and renewal finance sector processed 8,300 vendor registrations, 2,500 financial market employee accreditations, and 1,000 foreign investment fund resources saw 13.2 million work permit applications and 8 million employment contract transactions, with 1.2 million training hours delivered through the 'Jahiz' digital learning health, 2 million prescriptions were filled using robotic pharmacies, 1 million chest X-rays were conducted using artificial intelligence, and 437,900 remote medical consultations were held. The education sector delivered digital learning to 1.4 million individuals and processed 445,700 university course services answered 115,600 digital inquiries and completed 243,800 zakat and donation transactions, as well as 125,700 digital requests for fatwas and zakat calculations. In justice and security, 4.2 million traffic fine payments, 1.5 million vehicle registrations, and 417,800 criminal record certificate applications were processed identity and residency sector handled 4.7 million Emirates ID renewals, 1.6 million private sector residency permit renewals, and 596,200 digital document attestations.
