'Mickey 17' to stream May 23 on HBO Max
The film stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, who gets a job that requires him to repeatedly die.
Bong Joon Ho, who is best known for directing the 2019 film Parasite and the 2013 feature Snowpiercer, penned the script and served as Mickey 17's director.
Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo also star.
Edward Ashton's book, titled Mickey7, served as the movie's inspiration.
Mickey 17 opened in theaters in March.

Co-CEO James Gunn is the creative architect of the new DCU, with the first slate of projects titled Gods and Monsters. Prior to this he worked on The Suicide Squad (streaming now with a HBO Max subscription), which was actually set in the now-ended DCEU. Fans have been wondering if Margot Robbie would be returning as Harley Quinn, and a new report might have offered some much-needed answers. Throughout the years Robbie played Harley three times in live action: Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad. While James Gunn confirmed a few heroes were sticking around, fans were left wondering about Robbie. A new report from THR's Heat Vision newsletter claimed that: Harley Quinn, theoretically but probably not, could still be played by James Gunn's The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie. Obviously this is not a confirmation from the studio, and we might want to take it with a grain of salt. But since Gunn has never given any indication that he plans on collaborating again with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the future, it's not looking great. Back in January of 2024, Gunn confirmed there were not plans to bring back Margot Robbie's Harley just yet. And while he expressed interest in working with her again, it's possible that her tenure as the beloved DC antihero has come to an end. It would focus on the lower level criminals who work for Gotham's villains, but would also feature Joker and Harley Quinn. It remains to be seen if this project comes together, and who would play the latter character. Personally, I wish that Margot Robbie would continue playing Harley Quinn in the DC Universe. She crushed the role under three different directors and three very different projects. And whoever possibly replaces her in the burgeoning shared universe is going to have some very big shoes to fill. So why not bring the Barbie star back for future projects as Ms. Quinzel? Perhaps James Gunn's plans for the character include a full reboot, with her once again serving as Joker's girlfriend and assistant. This would be a major step backward from the character development we saw from Robbie's version throughout the DCEU. I'm just spitballing here, but there are plenty of reasons why the Oscar nominee not might reprise her signature role. For now we'll just have to wait for some official word from James Gunn, Robbie, or the studio. The next DC movie expected to hit theaters is Supergirl on June 26th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list.

Eminem doc 'Stans' to stream Aug. 26 on Paramount+
Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The Eminem-produced documentary Stans will stream on Paramount+ beginning Aug. 26 in North America, the platform announced Wednesday. The news follows a limited theater run that ended Sunday. The film will arrive on the streamer Aug. 27 in Britain, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and Oct. 3 in Japan. It made its premiere at SXSW London. Stans explores the legendary rapper through the perspective of his superfans. The name is a nod to his 2000 song "Stan," which described "an obsessive, unstable fan," and became so popular the term was added to the Oxford English Dictionary some 17 years later. "'Stan' is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fan's perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach. We kept coming back to one lyric from the song: 'I'm just like you,'" said Steven Leckart, who directed the project, in a statement. "Fans who echo that sentiment carry much of the film. But like the song, Marshall's perspective was also essential to the movie. I'm grateful for just how candid, sincere and frequently hilarious he was." Solve the daily Crossword

Trump to host 48th Kennedy Center Honors event in December

Kennedy Center for Performing Arts honorees on Wednesday and that he will host this year's event on Dec. 7. The 2025 honorees include actor Sylvester Stallone, stage actor Michael Crawford, country recording artist George Strait, singer Gloria Gaynor and the rock band Kiss. "Over an extraordinary four-decade career, George [Strait] has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, amassed 60 number one hits and produced 33 platinum-certified albums -- more than any other living American," Trump said. "He's believed by millions of people to just be as good as you can get, and he's beloved by hundreds of millions of people all over the world," Trump said, adding: "They call him the 'King of Country.'" Trump described U.K. stage actor Crawford as the kind of actor who only wants to perform on Broadway and London stages. The president said he attended Crawford's debut Broadway performance in 1967. "He became an international sensation in the 1980s for his original portrayal of the 'Phantom of the Opera, one of the greatest ever,'" Trump said. The president called Stallone a "very special guy" and a "real talent" who never received the credit he deserved for playing roles that Trump said no other actor could play. He complimented Stallone for writing, producing and starring in "Rocky" when he couldn't find a suitable actor with the correct build to play a boxer. "He ended up playing it because he couldn't find anybody else who fit the role," Trump said. "He's become a legend of the silver screen" and is a "great guy" with a "phenomenal wife and family." The president then announced Gaynor as an honoree for her award-winning recording career as a disco artist and later as a gospel artist, followed by the rock band Kiss, which he called "one of the greatest rock bands of all time." The annual Kennedy Center Honors event celebrates artists whose works have shaped the nation's and world's cultural landscapes and recognizes lifetime achievements in the arts. This year's group is the 48th for the Kennedy Center Honors event, which Trump will host on Dec. 7. "It's going to be a big evening," Trump told media. "I've been asked to host." The president said he initially declined to host the event, but relented and agreed to do so. It's unclear if he will emcee the event or if someone else will handle those duties, NBC News reported. The president in February was voted board chairman for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts after removing 18 board members who had been appointed by Democratic presidents. The Kennedy Center has 29 board members, each of whom serves a six-year term.
