Jakob Breum opens Celtic transfer door despite rejected bid as Josh Brownhill exit 'saddens' boss
Jakob Breum has told Celtic that he could still leave Go Ahead Eagles this month - despite the Hoops being unable to agree a deal for the Danish winger.
The Eredivisie team have made it clear that they will not sell the 21-year-old for any less than £5million after throwing out a bid worth £1.5million from Brendan Rodgers' side.
Record Sport has learned that the Dutch outfit are standing firm on their valuation of the player because 25 per cent of his next transfer fee will be awarded to Breum's former club Odense, having inserted a sell-on clause into the Dane's switch to the Netherlands two years ago.
Go Ahead pulled off a huge shock by edging out AZ Alkmaar on penalties to win the KNVB Cup last season, securing qualification for the group stages of the Europa League for the first time in their history.
But the player himself admits that a move elsewhere could still be on the cards in the final month of the summer window. Speaking to ESPN after Go Ahead Eagles' 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Johan Cruyff Shield on Sunday, he said: "Time will tell.
"There's still one month left, but as long as I'm here, I'll do my best. It's a boring answer, but that's the way it is. Now that important players have left, other players have to step up."
Meanwhile, Burnley boss Scott Parker concedes he is gutted to lose reported Celtic target Josh Brownhill.
The midfielder has left the Clarets at the end of his contract despite scoring 18 goals in their Championship winning campaign last season to seal a quickfire return to the Premier League.
Brownhill, 30, is said to have been offered a lucrative deal by Leicester City, but will reportedly consider offers from further afield.
Asked about his departure, along with keeper James Trafford sealing a £27million move back to Manchester City, ex England international Parker told the Burnley Express: "They go with our best wishes and we're sad to lose them, of course.
"They were a vital part, along with CJ [Egan-Riley] last year with what we did.
"Obviously that's three instrumental players for us last year and we've not managed to retain them and they've gone on their ways. But I wish them nothing but the utmost best because they've been incredible for us last year.
"Obviously it's a bit disappointing, but it is what it is. I get that and I understand that, so I wish them all the best and rightly so.
"I'm sure our fans and everyone at the football club wish them all the best on their onward journey."
