Domestic help, wife steal cash, jewellery worth Rs 1.5cr; invest in FDs, real estate

Lucknow: A domestic help, aged around 40, and his wife were accused of stealing cash and jewellery worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore from a residence in Metro City, Paper Mill Colony, Nishatganj, Lucknow. The domestic help, originally from a village in Bihar, was employed by the family for several years, gaining their trust over time. This trust allowed him to become aware of the cash and jewellery kept in the house. It is alleged that the duo systematically stole cash and jewellery over the time. When the homeowner got suspicious, he confronted the domestic help, who confessed to stealing Rs 50 lakh cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs 1 crore. The accused admitted to depositing the stolen money in fixed deposits and purchasing jewellery worth approximately Rs 10 lakh. He further revealed that he received guidance on managing the stolen funds from an acquaintance working at a bank, who advised him on opening fixed deposits and transferring money without detection. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He also invested in various insurance policies. Man dies after forceful leg pull during massage

Lucknow: A 35-year-old man recovering from a leg fracture died during a massage session in Bahaduram village under Kakori police station, allegedly after a villager claiming to cure him pulled his injured leg violently. SHO Kakori Satish Chandra said an FIR under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide) was lodged on Monday and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. "Preliminary findings suggest death due to clotting, but the autopsy report will clarify the exact cause," the officer said. Deceased Umashankar met with an accident nine days ago and was undergoing treatment at the trauma centre and a private orthopaedic hospital in Hardoi. According to his wife Geeta's complaint, a local villager Abhishek from Unnao's Unchagaon came to their home on Aug 16 and insisted on treating Umashankar without taking help of any doctor. "He claimed he would fix the leg through massage and warned us not to take him to hospital," the FIR states. On the night of Aug 16 around 8 pm Abhishek allegedly started massaging Umashankar's injured leg and then pulled it with force. "He dragged the leg so hard that my husband collapsed and died instantly," Geeta said in her statement. The accused fled immediately after the incident. Local sources said the suggestion to call Abhishek came from a villager named Sukhram, who introduced him as his brother-in-law and a traditional healer. Police said raids are on to arrest the accused, who is absconding. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Single slipper leads to arrest of 3 in murder case

Indore: Chandar Nagar police on Monday said they solved a sensational murder case as the cops used an unusual but crucial piece of evidence—a single slipper—to track down the three assailants responsible for the brutal killing of a 22-year-old man. The attackers, who intended to rob the victim, ended up with only Rs 70. The body of the victim, Arjun Yadav, was discovered on the night of August 9-10 in Navda Panth with 18-20 stab wounds, indicating an extremely violent assault. According to deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Rishikesh Meena, the meticulous investigation that followed relied heavily on the abandoned slipper found at the crime scene. As part of their investigation, police scoured over 300 CCTV footage from the area. During this process, officers spotted three men on a motorcycle, one of whom was noticeably without slippers. This observation became the central theory of the investigation. "We worked on the theory that they might be the accused who left their slipper at the spot," stated DCP Meena. By linking the footage, police successfully traced the suspects' movements towards Sadar Bazar. With the help of local informants, they were able to identify and arrest the three accused, Sahir, Sagir, and Amir. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo Police interrogation revealed that the trio planned the robbery to gather money for a trip. They targeted Yadav, but during the scuffle, Sagir allegedly stabbed him with a knife. Fearing that the victim might identify them, the three men continued to stab him, ultimately leading to his death. Despite the brutal nature of the crime, the attackers' loot amounted to a mere Rs 70. The 'Puma-branded slipper', dropped by one of the assailants as they fled the scene, became the key piece of evidence that connected them directly to the murder. The police team's quick action and meticulous investigation led to the case being cracked within days. "Senior officials have rewarded the team, and we will ensure that the accused receive harsh punishment," added DCP Meena, affirming the department's commitment to justice for the victim.
