Talabat UAE launches campaign for road safety awareness this Ramadan
Titled Don't Rush, Stay Safe, the initiative aims to enhance awareness among delivery riders and the public about safe driving practices, particularly during peak hours before Iftar.
The campaign advocates for heightened vigilance and patience among all drivers to ensure the safety of every road user and aligns seamlessly with the UAE's overarching road safety objectives, highlighting the critical role of collective efforts in cultivating a robust road safety culture.
'As Ramadan is a time of reflection and presence, we believe that the community should embody these values by adopting road safety practices and being patient with all road users,' said Simonida Subotic, Vice President and Managing Director, talabat UAE. 'The idea behind the campaign is to remind motorists, whether in a car or on two wheels, that getting to your destination safely matters more than getting there quickly.'
Talabat collaborated with ITC to pinpoint three most common road safety hazards: jumping red lights, speeding, and phone usage, which are implicitly highlighted in the video campaign.

Abu Dhabi Extends Road Toll Hours and Removes Daily, Monthly Caps
Starting Monday, September 1, Abu Dhabi motorists will face extended toll charges as part of new traffic rules aimed at easing congestion during peak hours, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced. Drivers will now pay Dh4 when passing through Darb toll gates from 3pm to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, extending the current afternoon charging window by two hours. Morning tolls remain unchanged at 7am to 9am on the same days. The toll gates remain free outside peak hours, on Sundays, and during official holidays. The four gates are located at Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Al Maqta Bridge, and Musaffah Bridge. In addition to extended hours, the government will also remove the existing daily and monthly toll caps. Previously, motorists paid no more than Dh16 per day or Dh200 per month for a first registered vehicle. These limits will be lifted starting September. The ITC confirmed that exemptions will continue for people with disabilities, retirees, senior citizens, and low-income families. Q Mobility, a subsidiary of ADQ, will oversee the updated Darb toll system in coordination with government authorities. The move comes as Abu Dhabi's population surpassed 4.1 million in 2024, up 51 percent in a decade, putting pressure on the emirate's growing road network.

Nielsen survey shows shift in Dubai shopping malls visitor patterns
Dubai's shopping malls are increasingly functioning as multi-purpose destinations, combining retail, dining, leisure, and errands in a single visit, according to a new survey of more than 750 residents – The Mall Mindset 2025 – conducted by Nielsen and commissioned by Al Ghurair Centre. The findings point to patterns in visit duration, trip purpose, and demographic engagement that reflect broader urban lifestyles. Dining as a primary reason to visit Ninety-seven per cent of respondents cited food and beverage as a key reason for visiting malls, putting dining on par with shopping and grocery trips. Food halls offering a variety of cuisines and price points in shared social spaces have grown in popularity, reflecting a trend toward communal and experiential eating. Evening footfall remains strong Most visits occur in the evening. Seventy-six per cent of trips take place between 5pm and midnight, with 32 per cent of respondents visiting at least once a week. The survey confirms that evenings continue to be a peak period for mall visits, reflecting established post-work and midweek routines. Longer visit times Visitors are spending more time in malls, with the average visit lasting up to four hours, covering two to seven outlets, and including up to five purchases per trip. This pattern indicates that mall visits are increasingly layered experiences, where shopping, dining and leisure overlap. Younger generation is the largest visitor group The largest visitor group is the 25–34 age bracket, falling in the Gen Z and Millennials bracket, and represents 46 per cent of mall goers. Twenty-three per cent of visits are solo, and discovery is primarily driven by word of mouth (56 per cent), Instagram (45 per cent), and Facebook (32 per cent). These figures highlight the social and digital channels shaping younger consumers' engagement with malls. The Nielsen survey's findings highlight a shift in mall usage, with longer, multi-purpose visits and digitally-influenced discovery shaping footfall patterns in 2025.
