Music Legend Claps Back at Piers Morgan Over Beyoncé Comments

Music Legend Claps Back at Piers Morgan Over Beyoncé Comments originally appeared on Parade. Dionne Warwick isn't tolerating Piers Morgan's criticism of Beyoncé. After Beyoncé participated in a Marilyn Monroe-inspired ad campaign for Levi's, Morgan accused the singer of "cultural appropriation." "Very disappointed to see Beyoncé culturally appropriate Marilyn Monroe in her new Levi's ad." he wrote on X. The Levi's campaign shows the Cowboy Carter singer styled with platinum blonde curls, winged eyeliner, and red lipstick, channeling Monroe's old Hollywood aesthetic. Some pointed out similarities to Sydney Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad, which also promotes a pair of classic American blue jeans. Shortly after Morgan's comments, Warwick took to X to defend the pop star. "Getting involved in women's business again, I see…" the music legend wrote. Fans immediately took to the replies to react to Warwick's unexpected defense of Beyoncé "It's giving obsessed" one fan wrote about Morgan alongside a crying emoji, to which Warwick replied, "Correct." "Whack him again" said another commenter. "Dionne we are always living for your Twitter clapback." added a third. Some members of the Beyhive were surprised by Warwick's comment due to her previous criticism of the singer. In 2019, the hitmaker sparked controversy when she said Beyoncé had yet to reach icon status. "I have an admiration for Beyoncé Knowles, Carter now. Watching her growth has been quite refreshing. It's wonderful to see how she's been able to create what and who she wanted to be and who she is… very proud of that, I really am," Warwick told Essence at the time. "Now sustaining and becoming a big icon that Gladys Knight, or Patti LaBelle, or Johnny Mathis, or Frank Sinatra, or Sammy Davis Jr. is? I doubt that," Warwick continued. "I love her to death and can appreciate her talent. But that iconic status? It's a long road [ahead]." After her comments went viral, Warwick quickly clarified what she really meant. "It takes a long time to reach and achieve iconic status," Warwick said. "That's not to say that Beyoncé isn't well on her way. She is a gifted performer. That was a reach from Essence." Swifties Defend Taylor Swift's Controversial Album Art

Taylor Swift revealed the artwork for her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, and some people aren't fans of what they're seeing. On Wednesday, Taylor shared details about her twelfth studio album, including the cover art, tracklist, surprise features, and the release date. "And, baby, that's show business for you," Taylor wrote on her Instagram post, which has amassed over 9 million likes. The album is set to release on Oct. 3 and feature producers Max Martin, Shellback, and Taylor herself — the same team behind some of her biggest hits on 1989 and Reputation. It will include 12 tracks, with a special collaboration from Sabrina Carpenter, who also opened for Taylor during her Eras Tour. Here's the official tracklist:1. "The Fate of Ophelia"2. "Elizabeth Taylor"3. "Opalite"4. "Father Figure"5. "Eldest Daughter"6. "Ruin the Friendship"7. "Actually Romantic"8. "Wi$h Li$t"9. "Wood"10. "CANCELLED!"11. "Honey"12. "The Life of a Showgirl (Feat. Sabrina Carpenter)" And while we don't know what the songs are about just yet, that hasn't stopped fans from theorizing about the meaning behind them — and, I have to admit, the theories are really good. Taylor has been through a lot since her Eras tour, from new love to possible friendship breakups, so it will be interesting to see what gets addressed. In fact, Taylor shed some light on The Life of a Showgirl while appearing alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, on the New Heights podcast, which he cohosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. During the 2-hour long conversation, she shared a ton of behind-the-scenes details about herself, their relationship, and, of course, her music. Despite the comments being turned off on her Instagram, fans found other outlets to express their excitement, including X (better known as Twitter): "Taylor teaming up with Max Martin and Shellback again? This is about to be a pop masterpiece for the ages." "SO PROUD OF YOU SHOWGIRL!!!!!" "And suddenly I'm off work that day." "So so so excited for this new era! Thank you for sharing your words and your feelings with us !!!" "NEW TAYLOR ALBUM LET'S GOOO." But along with the love she was being showered with, there also came backlash. Some people weren't impressed by the way Taylor was dressed in her various shots for her album, with one commenter even claiming that the multi-Grammy winner is "not a model I want my young daughter to idolize anymore." Others believed she was trying to mimic other popular artists like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, and more with her showgirl outfits: But the reactions didn't stop there: Fans on Reddit were not feeling the criticism and called out the pressure parents place on celebrities to "help raise" their children, and the hypocrisy women go through as they're expected to mature in their work but not in their looks. I'm going to have to side with the positive comments here. Women, let alone female celebrities, should be allowed to experiment and grow with their art. Expecting artists to look the same and produce the same art over and over again is unrealistic and unfair. Taylor has always been open about the various stages she's going through in life, and this is no different. Whether you love her, hate her, or hate to love her, Taylor will always find a way to get the people talking!

Taylor Swift Responds to Album Leaks

Taylor Swift just revealed the cover, tracklist, and vibes of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. But depending on where you lurk online, you miiiiight have seen some photo leaks ahead of her announcement. Then again, chances are you didn't since fans were largely so diligent about not sharing the leaks widely—keeping Tay's announcement a surprise. And this is nothing new! Swifties are a dedicated bunch when it comes to protecting Tay and her album drops—to the point where she shouted them out when 1989 leaked and everyone rallied to stop it spreading. "Two days before the album came out, it leaked online, and it was the first time I've ever had an album leak without it trending on Twitter — because my fans protected it," Taylor told NPR. "Anytime they'd see an illegal post of it, they'd comment, 'Why are you doing this? Why don't you respect the value of art? Don't do this. We don't believe in this. This is illegal. This isn't fair. This isn't right.' And it was wild seeing that happen." The Grammy winner also spoke about letting some fans listen to the album early in secret sessions, saying "We spent four hours together each night, taking Polaroids and having a great time and giving them a chance to tell me their stories that they wanted to tell in their own time. Not being rushed. Not having to feel panic. And then they went back out into the world, and they kept those promises. They didn't talk about lyrics. They didn't spoil the secret for other fans." Love!!!
