KPT to expand ‘Telaah' broadcast to foster reading interest, intellectual discussions
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said he has discussed with the Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, and the programme will be expanded to a wider audience, involving students, lecturers, teachers, and schoolchildren to foster a love for reading.
''Telaah' is an initiative borne by the Prime Minister, who is indeed known as a book lover and a leader with a scholarly spirit. In all his speeches, there will surely be quotes from prominent figures and important books that enliven discourse and enlighten the minds of the people.
''Telaah' is not just a programme, it is a movement to revive the interest in reading, the culture of book discussions, and intellectual discussions based on knowledge,' he said in a Facebook post today.
The first episode of 'Telaah' last night featured the Prime Minister as a special guest, discussing four important works namely 'Kemiskinan Melayu dan Jalan Kepulihannya' by Za'ba, 'Jejak-Jejak di Pantai Zaman' (Prof Diraja Ungku Abdul Aziz), 'Islam dan Sejarah Kebudayaan Melayu' (Prof Diraja Dr Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas), and 'Islam dan Melayu: Martabat Umat dan Daulat Rakyat' (Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil) from his personal library.
To embrace the development of digital technology, Zambry said an online book review competition will also be held so that people from all corners of the country can participate.
'Our aspiration is clear: to create a nation that not only reads, but reads with understanding and understands with the spirit of building.
'I hope 'Telaah' becomes a platform to revive the culture of knowledge. From the highest leaders of the country to the grassroots of society, 'Telaah' belongs to everyone. Insya-Allah, we'll meet in the next episode of 'Telaah' after this,' he added.
'Telaah', initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), is a contemporary platform that supports the nation's grand aspiration to cultivate a discourse based on reading and transforming the passion for knowledge into a national practice.
Airing once a week on an online platform, 'Telaah' brings together scholars, writers, and the general public in open discussions that foster a deeper understanding of various societal and civilisational issues, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.

PETALING JAYA : Pakatan Harapan (PH) MP Syahredzan Johan has questioned whether a suit filed by lawyer P Waytha Moorthy against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is linked to Waytha's recent meeting with Bersatu leaders. Earlier today, FMT reported that Waytha had filed a suit seeking a declaration that Anwar should not have been elected as Tambun MP in November 2022 and appointed prime minister. In a Facebook post, Bangi MP Syahredzan said that while anyone has the right to file court proceedings, he felt the suit against Anwar was 'frivolous and vexatious' as the latter has been prime minister for close to three years. He also noted that Waytha had even previously hailed Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan chairman, as the best man to head the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra). 'Is this not acknowledgement that Anwar is legally the prime minister? 'Anwar has been the Tambun MP for 996 days. (But) Waytha only wants to disqualify Anwar (now)? 'Is it a coincidence that Waytha met Bersatu leaders last month, and today we are told about this suit against Anwar?' said Syahredzan. Malaysian Advancement Party president Waytha was among the leaders from political parties outside the government bloc who met Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss the formation of a united opposition front. In his Facebook post, Syahredzan also pointed out that Waytha, who was a minister in Dr Mahathir Mohamad's Cabinet from 2018 to 2020, did not object when Anwar contested and won a 2018 by-election for the Port Dickson parliamentary seat. 'Waytha did not have a problem with it at the time,' added Syahredzan, who is a lawyer by training. 'He did not file any suit to disqualify Anwar then, even until Parliament was dissolved in 2022.'

ILMU is Malaysia's own multimodal large language model (LLM), trained on local language and data to understand our culture, context and daily realities. Fully developed, owned and operated in Malaysia, it is built by YTL AI Labs, in partnership with Universiti Malaya (UM). MOE to clarify bullying guidelines through stakeholder engagement
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education will organise engagement sessions with stakeholders to clarify existing guidelines on managing bullying cases. Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated this initiative follows one of four demands in the #JusticeForZara memorandum submitted by student activists. She confirmed the ministry remains open to suggestions for improving current bullying protocols. The announcement was made via her official Facebook post. Fadhlina addressed calls for systemic education reforms by highlighting recent safety measures in schools. These include safety audits, an improved complaint system, and a dedicated reform committee. Strict disciplinary actions such as suspensions and expulsions will be enforced against bullying offenders. Psychosocial support will also be strengthened across all educational levels. The minister acknowledged demands for mandatory crisis training for teachers and administrators. She assured ongoing enhancements to ensure staff readiness in handling bullying cases. All schools under the ministry must adhere to established bullying guidelines. Fadhlina emphasised full cooperation with police investigations into Zara Qairina Mahathir's case. Updates on the investigation will be provided by the Royal Malaysia Police. The ministry supports the police special task force formed to handle the case.
