Melina Galanis Frattolin, nine, was found dead after her dad claimed she was 'abducted by a white van' - but police have since 'identified inconsistencies' in his timeline
A missing nine-year-old girl has tragically been found dead as police say her father's timeline of events has "inconsistencies".

Police had launched a desperate search for Melina Galanis Frattolin, who her father claimed was abducted in a white van, but shared a heartbreaking update less than 24 hours later. An "amber alert" was issued on Sunday to alert locals around the Lake George of New York about her disappearance. New York State Police said they received a call from her dad Luciano Frattolin, 45, saying his daughter has possibly been kidnapped. Cops have since said they tragically found Melina's dead body in Ticonderoga, around 40 miles north of Lake George.

In the heartbreaking update, The New York State Police said: "At this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public."
The nine-year-old had been reported missing in the area of Exit 22 in Lake George by her dad, both Canadian residents, just before 10pm on Saturday.
The New York State Police said: "The Warren County Sheriff's Office initially led the investigation. As the case progressed, law enforcement identified inconsistencies in the father's account of events and the timeline he provided."

In his initial report to police, the dad said Melina was last seen at around 9.40pm and was snatched away in a white van. Melina was described as 5ft tall, weighing 100 pounds and being of Indian descent with brown hair and brown eyes.
In the initial police statement, before the nine-year-old was found dead, cops said: "The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death."

Officials have not revealed if anybody has been charged in this case. The NYSP said they will hold a conference on Monday with more information about Melina's tragic death. Her father is the founder of an organic coffee brand called Gambella, according to the company's website.
The website said: "Luciano Frattolin is an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record of building diverse, high-performance businesses.
"With a background in the humanities and social sciences, his formal education, together with his pragmatic understanding about the complexities of life, motivates him to maintain an understanding of the world grounded in a distinct cross-cultural ethos.
"The son of an Ethiopian mother and an Italian father, Luciano was born in the small, remote village of Gambella. With a childhood spent running between rows of crimson coffee buds on the Ethiopian family plantation, and the neoclassical architecture of his father's Milano, his vision of the world and his pursuits within, reflect these hyphenated cultures."

9-year-old Montreal girl found in an upstate New York pond drowned in a homicide

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — A 9-year-old girl from Canada found dead in an upstate New York pond after her father reported her missing was drowned, according to preliminary autopsy results released Tuesday. Luciano Frattolin, 45, of Montreal, was charged with murdering and concealing the corpse of his daughter, Melina Frattolin. He pleaded not guilty Monday and was being held in a county jail. Frattolin called 911 on Saturday night and said his daughter went missing from a parking lot near Lake George, a resort town in the Adirondack region. He later told authorities that two men forced his daughter into a white van, according to New York State Police. Officials issued an Amber Alert, seeking the public's help in the search. But investigators noticed inconsistencies in the father's account and eventually concluded there was no evidence the girl had been abducted. A team led by state forest rangers found the girl's body on Sunday afternoon in the shallow part of a pond in the woods of Ticonderoga, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Lake George. The criminal complaint said Frattolin concealed her body under a log. The preliminary autopsy results said the cause of death was 'asphyxia due to drowning' and classified it as a homicide, according to state police. Final autopsy results are pending. Police said the father and daughter had been vacationing since July 11 in the U.S. and were expected back in Montreal that weekend. The girl lived with her mother, who has been estranged from Luciano Frattolin since 2019, police said. The investigation into the girl's death is continuing.

He has now been jailed for three years and five months and made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The osteopath has pleaded guilty to three charges of observing a person doing a private act "for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification". Snaresbrook Crown Court heard the offences took place on December 10, 14 and 21 last year. Varinder Hayre, prosecuting, said: "On December 21 at about 9pm, a member of the public reported that a male in a car has been taking photographs and videos of students in university students' accommodation. "The member of the public also said he has seen the male in the car about four years ago." The bystander also called police on December 10 and 14 but officers did not attend, the court heard. Hersborg was caught by police wearing black gloves and had black plastic bags lining the seats. When asked what he was doing, Hersborg claimed he had gone for drinks but felt like he was going to "pass out" on the way home so pulled over. But officers discovered a battery in his pocket and a camera and telescope in his car. Police recovered 68 images and videos that showed a woman in just a T-shirt, a different female sitting in her bedroom and another "seemingly getting dressed". A search was carried out at Hersborg's home and a large quantity of digital devices was seized. He gave no comment in his police interview, except to say he was "sorry for the whole situation". Hersborg is the director of the Central London Osteopathy and Sports Clinic in Old Street. His social media included video of a treatment session with Strictly star Viscountess Emma Weymouth, as well as photos with Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. Hersborg has also worked with Italian Serie A football team Brescia and the Danish Tennis Federation. He has been suspended from practising as an Osteopath by the General Osteopathic Council. Alex Weichselbaum of the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Hersborg operated in plain sight for too long and, having targeted thousands of women over 12 years, we believe the scale and significance of his offending makes him one of London's most prolific voyeurs. "His meticulously planned acts included setting up secret cameras in his clinic and covertly filming women - both in public and when they thought they were in the privacy of their own homes. "Hersborg deliberately abused the trust of his unwitting patients by filming them in intimate positions and targeted strangers for his own sexual gratification. "Women should be free to live their lives without unwanted intrusion – particularly from sexual offenders like Hersborg who deliberately chose to film or photograph them in their most private or intimate moments."

DJ dies ‘after being beaten by cops' at Ibiza party when police were ‘called ove

A popular Italian DJ who performed around the world died after allegedly being beaten by cops at a house party. Michele Noschese, known as DJ Godzi, was just 35 when he was 'assaulted' by cops at his home during a late-night party in Ibiza. The Italian DJ had been living in Ibiza for the last 10 years and was well-known on the island, performing frequently at music events in London, Paris, Barcelona, and New York. He died Saturday morning, and Spanish authorities are investigating his death, which was announced by numerous friends and online electronic music pages. Michele was reportedly holding a party at his home when neighbours called the Civil Guard over the loud noise. The DJ clashed with several officers and was allegedly beaten, according to several witnesses, before his body was taken to the morgue. The authorities are waiting for the post-mortem results to establish his exact cause of death. Michele's family has reportedly requested an independent forensic medical report, and Italian politicians are demanding answers. Fulvio Martusciello, MEP for the Forza Italia political party, said: 'We want to know the truth about Michele Noschese's death. 'We want to understand what happened and what the Civil Guard's responsibility is. The sudden death of a young, successful and well-liked Neapolitan, an internationally renowned DJ, cannot remain in the shadows.' Techno-house music label Moon Child shared photos of Michele and wrote: 'We are truly saddened by this news. Michele had a kind heart and was part of the Mood family after releasing his track 'Love This Game' on Mood Edits.' Michele previously said his passion for music began when he was just 15, and he went to live in London before later moving to Ibiza. 'I tell any young DJ to work hard from morning to night in front of the PC to compose electronic music,' he said. His death came on the heels of other recent deaths in Ibiza.
