Wicked star Ethan Slater cast in season two of superhero series Gen V
Gen V focuses on a group of students at Godolkin University, the dedicated college that trains young adult superheroes, as they deal with interference from Vought International – the shadowy scientific and public relations company that manages superheroes globally.
The new trailer for the second season reveals that Slater, who played Boq in the film adaptation of Wicked, will play the founder of Godolkin University.
The Boys star, Chace Crawford, will make a guest appearance in the upcoming season as The Deep, a member of the elite superhero team, The Seven.
Season two of Gen V will see the students return to college while living under the new rule of Homelander, the strongest superhero in the series and the show's antagonist.
As war begins to brew between Humans and Supes both on and off campus, the students learn of a secret programme that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University and may have larger implications than they realise.
Season Two will see the return of Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer and Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap.
London Thor will also be back on screens to play Jordan Li along with Derek Luh's Jordan Li, Asa Germann as Sam Riordan and Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity.
US actor Hamish Linklater will join the cast to play the mysterious Dean Cipher as he preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful then ever.
US-born actor Chance Perdomo, who grew up in the UK and had a main role as Andre Anderson, was set to return for a second season, but he died at the age of 27 last year after a motorcycle accident.
Producers previously said that his character, who had the ability to control metal through magnetism, will not be recast in the upcoming season.
The first three episodes of Gen V season two will premiere on September 17 on Prime Video.

Previously, Alan played patriarch Jim Robinson, one of Neighbours' original characters. Kylie Minogue Before she hit the big time with her music career, Kylie shot to fame playing Charlene Mitchell on Neighbours. Shortly after her arrival, Kylie began an on and off-screen romance with co-star Jason Donovan, who played Scott Robinson, which gained the couple an army of adoring fans. Jason Donovan After his stint as Scott, singer and actor Jason became an international popstar and had his pick acting of roles. He moved to the U.K., married, had children and has since starred in over a dozen West End show, most notably Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat. Alan Dale New Zealand born actor Alan was one of Neighbours 12 original cast members having made his debut as Jim Robinson on the soap's first episode on 18 March 1985. As the head of the Robinson clan, widower Jim lived at Number 26 Ramsay Street with his children Paul, Julie, Scott and Lucy, and was a real anchor in the community. He stayed with the show for eight years, before his character was killed off in dramatic scenes aired in 1993 but which still reverberate through the soap to this day. Margot Robbie Way before she was Barbie or Harley Quinn, Margot was best known as Ramsay Street resident Donna Freedman. Her notable storylines included her marriage to Ringo Brown and becoming a young widow following his tragic death. After three years she bid farewell to the soap and Australia with a plan to make a name for herself in Hollywood which she did when she bagged the role of Naomi Lapaglia opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street. Jesse Spencer Jesse rocked up on Ramsay street in 1994 with the rest of the Kennedy clan. He stayed for five years, literally growing up in front of the camera, but in 2000 felt it was time to spread his wings and head for Hollywood. It was certainly a smart move as he went on to bag leading roles in popular shows like House and Chicago Fire. Russell Crowe New Zealand-native Russell had a brief arc on Neighbours, appearing in four episodes of the soap 1987 as Kenny Larkin, the former cellmate of Street resident Henry Ramsay. The role obviously got him noticed though because he quickly went on to become a fully-fledged Hollywood A-lister, winning the Best Actor Oscar for his standout performance as Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator. Lightsaber fight sees Star Wars film reclassified due to ‘moderate violence'
The reclassification was revealed in the BBFC's 2024 annual report, which said the 1999 film's starship dogfights, use of laser weapons, and the battle, which shows brief 'bloody detail' and a 'non-graphic' shot of a villain's dissected body, had led to it being labelled PG for its cinema re-release last year. PG means the film should not unsettle a child aged eight or above, but some scenes may be unsuitable for more sensitive children, while U means a movie is suitable to all. Another film which saw its classification change was 1937's A Star Is Born, which went from U to 12, meaning it is not generally suitable for children aged under 12, because of the implied suicide of one of the film's characters, which was described as 'visually discreet'. The phrase 'son of a bitch' and drug references saw US TV comedy series Fraser go from a PG to a 12, over a change in the guidelines for classification, while both The Crow (1995) and Fight Club (1999) saw their classifications lowered from 18 to 15 because of the updated guidelines. It comes as last year saw the BBFC classify the highest number of films in its 112-year history, with new guidelines regarding the classification of sex scenes at the 12/15 border, violence across the categories, and certain depictions of drug misuse. Natasha Kaplinsky, president of the BBFC, said: '2024 was the BBFC's 112th year of helping people across the UK view what's right for them – and what a remarkable year it was. 'We classified more cinema features than ever before, and we have made significant progress towards extending the coverage of trusted BBFC age ratings on streaming services through new deals with Prime Video and Netflix. 'We launched our revised Classification Guidelines – ensuring that the standards we apply when classifying content continue to reflect the views of UK audiences. 'Perhaps most exciting of all, we have continued our pioneering work with AI, ensuring that the BBFC remains at the forefront of film and digital content regulation. It has been a genuine privilege to lead the organisation at such an exciting and transformative time.'
