Cate Blanchett splashes her millions on snazzy eco mansion in 'Hollywood-on-Sea'
With an estimated net worth of $95million (£71.4m), it's not surprising that Cate Blanchett has splashed the cash on a super snazzy eco home.
The Australian actress is best known for her roles in films such as Carol, Tár, Ocean's 8, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, having received two Oscars, four Baftas, and four Golden Globes for her work over the years.
But when she's not performing on stage or screen, the 55-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the best talents of her generation, likes to relax by the sea.
Although it might surprise you to learn that by 'sea,' we don't mean an Australian bay, but instead… Cornwall.
Cate has had a spectacular new abode built in Mawgan Porth, which has been dubbed 'Hollywood-on-Sea' due to the rich and famous residents it attracts.
The likes of David Beckham, Kate Winslet, Stanley Tucci, and Jason Statham have all been spotted on the beach there, so it clearly came highly recommended to Cate and her family.
New photos show the stunning property in all its glory, having transformed the area of the Cornish coastal village.
Cate's mansion is part of a stretch of properties along the seafront, sitting beside other multi-million-pound developments from A-listers and business moguls.
Its build comes after Cornish locals initially feared being priced out of the area by the developments.
The designs of the new houses are certainly futuristic, boasting solar panels on the roof and floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the idyllic view.
Cate's specifically boasts five bedrooms, and it's reported she was the first celeb to buy a home in the village in 2020 before purchasing a £1.25million plot of land directly above the following year.
This comes after she was granted planning permission to knock down her £1.6million cottage she bought with husband Andrew Upton.
And it seems Cate might be spending even more time in her sprawling mansion, having recently said she wishes to 'retire' from acting.
The movie star has a string of films still to come, but admitted to Radio Times that she feels uncertain about branding herself an 'actress' now. More Trending
'It's because I'm giving up,' she declared.
She added: 'My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting … [There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life.'
Cate's first role was in 1992 in the David Mamet play Oleanna for the Sydney Theatre Company.
She recently finished working on a new Jim Jarmusch-directed movie called Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, which is slated for release this year.

Stephen Graham had emergency operation on a plane to the US
Stephen Graham may be known for his intense on-screen performances, but his recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers showcased a very different side of the acclaimed British actor. A story the Adolescence star, 51, told on the show has gone viral online for good reason: It involves mid-air panic, unexpected medical heroics, and the actor 'dropping his kecks.' Prompted by Meyers' question about a particularly eventful journey to the United States, the A Thousand Blows star chuckled and admitted it had been 'a hell of an experience.' 'I'm of a certain age now,' Graham began. 'You know, once you hit 45, the trips to the loo start to rack up.' That complaint led the actor to seek a medical solution months prior – a non-invasive procedure designed to reduce frequent urination by slightly enlarging the prostate, often aided by a catheter. For a while, everything had been fine. That is, until Graham found himself at 10,000 feet and suddenly unable to urinate. 'It just didn't feel right,' he recalled. He returned to his seat and downed more water, hoping it would work itself out. But the next time he visited the toilet, things took a frightening turn. 'Long story short, I went, but it was just pure blood,' he said. 'It was very scary. I couldn't stop this trajectory of blood and I'm having a slight panic attack. I'm about to cry and I'm having a moment,' Graham added. Earlier that day, Graham had posed for a selfie at the gate with a fan, who, as luck would have it, was a doctor. Even better? The doctor's travel companion was a surgeon. Once the severity of Graham's situation became clear, the cabin crew sprang into action. 'Next minute, the doctor comes around the corner and goes, 'Stephen!' and I'm like, 'Doc! Hello!'' What happened next could rival the drama of any Graham-led series. The space between economy and first class was hastily converted into an operating bay. Curtains were drawn, medical kits opened, and the lounge area sterilized. More Trending 'I dropped me kecks, got on the couch, and they performed a catheter procedure right there,' Graham said. The cause? A blood clot that had lodged behind his urethra. But once it was removed, Graham described the relief in the most Graham way possible: 'It was one of the nicest experiences with me and my penis,' he quipped, grinning. 'I came running out like a kid who'd just learned to use the toilet.' He also made sure to commemorate the surreal incident: 'We took a photo at the end, me, the doctors, and the flight crew. Wonderful people.' What could have been a nightmare turned into a memorable, oddly uplifting tale of mid-air humanity – and one more reason fans continue to love Stephen Graham. Got a story? This village in Cornwall has been named in Conde Nast Traveller's list of the best seaside places in England in 2025, known for its stunning harbour and sandy beach A picturesque Cornish seaside village has been recognised as one of the best in the country. The South West is a popular holiday destination, known for its charming towns and breathtaking coastlines. Tucked away in the western part of Cornwall, about three miles from Penzance, lies the historic fishing village of Mousehole. It has been included in Conde Nast Traveller's list of the top seaside spots in England for 2025. The guide characterised Mousehole as "one of the county's most picturesque fishing villages" and an ideal place to "escape the hustle and bustle of city life". Mousehole is renowned for its beautiful harbour and sandy beach. The village also boasts a variety of galleries, gift shops and eateries. Parts of the route involve climbing over large granite boulders, so walkers should come prepared. Visit Cornwall stated: "Mousehole is considered one of Cornwall's prettiest fishing villages, with two small sandy beaches inside its harbour quays, only accessible at low tide, and a long pebble beach running east toward Penlee Point. "For keen swimmers, there's the Mousehole Rock Pool; a natural tidal pool and the perfect spot for a wild sea swim and a chance to spot seals out in the bay. There's an assortment of car parks in and around the harbour, free parking on the road coming into the village, and a good bus service from Penzance."
