Beloved Kellogg's Chocolate Cereal Officially Discontinued

Yahoo6 days ago

Cereal aisles across the United Kingdom just got a little less sweet, and fans of one chocolatey favorite are starting to notice. After a highly anticipated return and a wave of nostalgic buzz, Kellogg's Chocolate Corn Flakes cereal has suddenly disappeared from shelves. But this isn't just a case of low stock or limited-time supply. Something bigger is at play, and the reason why it won't be coming back anytime soon is raising eyebrows among devoted breakfast lovers.
More than a year after the sudden disappearance of one of its most talked-about breakfast cereals, Kellogg's has finally issued an official update — and it's not the news fans were hoping for.
The company confirmed to The Sun that there are 'no current plans' to bring back its chocolate-covered corn flakes, which were pulled from UK supermarket shelves in May of last year due to a major recall. The £2.75 ($3.69) boxes of Kellogg's Corn Flakes Chocolate Flavor were removed after concerns emerged that they might contain 'hard lumps' capable of causing choking or dental injury.
Since then, the beloved cereal has remained off the shelves, sparking waves of speculation and disappointment among loyal fans. Many took to social media to question the product's future and express their nostalgia.
Writing on X, one user asked: 'Did @KelloggsUKI discontinue chocolate cornflakes again?' Another wondered: 'I know you recalled chocolate cornflakes, but are they ever going to be back again, they were only brought back for a few weeks then recalled.' A third chimed in: 'Any idea when your chocolate cornflakes are coming back in store?'
Others expressed excitement amid rumors of a comeback, with one fan reportedly declaring the cereal '10/10.'
In response to the growing curiosity, a Kellogg's spokesperson shared a bittersweet statement:
'We love that Kellogg's fans are so passionate about their favorite cereals, and we're proud to be a part of millions of people's breakfasts each morning in the UK. We can never say never, but while there are no current plans to bring back Chocolate Corn Flakes, we do have lots of other exciting new products out now, like Kellogg's Oaties and Bluey Multigrain cereal, with more coming next year for cereal lovers to try.'
While die-hard fans may hold out hope for a future return, it seems this chocolatey favorite won't be making its way back to breakfast tables anytime soon.
Kellogg's fans were thrilled when the breakfast giant brought back its chocolate corn flakes after more than a decade, reviving what many hailed as the 'best Corn Flakes ever.' First introduced in 2013 to glowing reviews, the beloved cereal mysteriously vanished the same year, despite its popularity with shoppers.
In January 2024, Kellogg's gave fans a second chance, reintroducing the cereal with a modern twist. Unlike the original version, which was coated in chocolate, the revamped recipe featured cocoa-coated flakes — a subtle change that offered the same indulgent taste while boosting its nutritional profile with added vitamin D and fiber.
Emily Dutton, activation manager at Kellogg's, shared her enthusiasm with The Sun during the relaunch: 'It's great to be bringing chocolate flavour Corn Flakes to breakfast tables. They can be eaten alone for an extra crunch or with milk, where the coating washes off to make the milk delectably chocolatey, whilst the Corn Flakes stay crispy.'
But just a few months later, excitement gave way to disappointment. By May, the cereal was abruptly recalled after the UK's Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned consumers to dispose of the 450g packs and request a full refund.
Chicago-based Kellanova — formerly Kellogg Company and the manufacturer of Kellogg's cereals in Europe — cited a product quality issue behind the decision. 'We are voluntarily recalling Kellogg's Corn Flakes Chocolate Flavor cereal due to a quality defect,' Kellanova explained. This quality defect is the previously mentioned 'hard lumps' that could cause choking or dental damage.
Kellogg's Chocolate Corn Flakes cereal is not available in the US. However, Kellogg's offers several chocolate-flavored cereals in the American market, including:
Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Chocolate Milkshake: This cereal features a rich chocolate and sweet vanilla flavor coating each flake, turning the milk in your bowl into a deliciously silky chocolate treat.
Kellogg's Special K Chocolatey Delight: A blend of crunchy rice and wheat flakes with a chocolatey coating, satisfying your sweet cravings while offering a lighter option.
Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies: A classic chocolate-flavored cereal that turns your milk into a chocolaty delight, reminiscent of the original Rice Krispies but with a cocoa twist.

Babatunde Alesha signs up for Great Celebrity Bake Off

Babatunde Aleshe has signed up for 'The Great Celebrity Bake Off'. The 38-year-old comic will be taking his place in the tent for the Stand Up To Cancer special, with programme bosses hoping he will bring his "pure positivity" and "infectious" energy to the show. A source told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "Babatunde is guaranteed to be hilarious and will no doubt have plenty of banter with Paul, Noel, Caroline and Alison. "He's not known for his prowess in the kitchen so there's sure to be some panicky moments laced with the good humour he's known for. "His energy on the 'Gogglebox' sofa has always been pure positivity and very infectious, and bosses are hoping he'll bring that to the tent." The news comes a few days after it was revealed 'Love Island' star Molly-Mae Hague will also be taking part in the charity baking competition. A source said: "She will be a great addition to the line-up and bring a healthy helping of Love island glamour to the tent. "Molly's now one of Britain's biggest TV stars and has seen her fame steadily grow since she first appeared on the ITV dating show back in 2019." And fresh from her stint on 'Celebrity Big Brother', JoJo Siwa is also said to have signed up for 'The Great Celebrity Bake Off', with producers said to be particularly pleased because of the interest in the dancer and her relationship with Chris Hughes. An insider said: "This is a bit of a coup for the 'Bake Off' because JoJo is currently one of the most talked about young stars on TV right now. "She's barely had time to catch her breath, leaving 'CBB' last month amid huge media attention and heading straight into another huge show this month. "It's also a fantastic gig for her because although she already has a fanbase over here, the cookery contest also introduces her to a wider British audience. "Plus she got plenty of experience of cooking in front of the cameras while she was on 'Celebrity Big Brother', though this time she won't have hunky Chris to distract her." The show will see Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond returning as hosts, but long-serving judge Paul Hollywood will be joined by Caroline Waldegrave after Prue Leith decided to step back from all 'GBBO' specials.

Queen Elizabeth Once Made a Major Wedding Guest Etiquette Mistake—Here's How to Avoid the Same Faux Pas

In 2012, Queen Elizabeth II was visiting Manchester Town Hall as part of Diamond Jubilee celebration. John and Frances Canning, a couple getting married at the venue on the same day as the visit, heard about the monarch's event and invited her to the wedding via her staff at Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth's staff politely declined the invitation, and the couple assumed they wouldn't see the royals on their wedding day. Instead, the Queen surprised them with a quick visit and photos after their ceremony. It's viewed as poor etiquette to RSVP "no" to a wedding but still arrive on the big day; though the couple was delighted to see the monarch at their celebration, avoid a similar guest faux pas by sticking to the RSVP you anyone who has ever planned a wedding can attest, tracking down guest RSVPs can be one of the most frustrating tasks on your to-do list. Your final guest count impacts everything from your final catering bill to how many tables and centerpieces you'll have to pay for—there are a number of vendors who are all anxiously awaiting your updated attendee numbers, which is why it's such a big deal when a guest RSVPs late, or worse, changes their attendance status at the last minute. Of course, unforeseen issues like illness and travel snafus do arise, but changing your RSVP from "no" to "yes" at the last minute is seen as a very significant etiquette faux pas. One notable wedding attendee who made this mistake? The late Queen Elizabeth II. In 2012, the former monarch was celebrating her Diamond Jubilee, or 60 years as Britain's reigning monarch, and was touring Manchester Town Hall as part of the festivities, Time previously reported. John and Frances Canning, who had already selected the venue for their nuptials, heard about the queen's forthcoming engagement and sent an extra invitation to her staff at Buckingham Palace in a "moment of madness," Marie Claire reports; in the weeks leading up to the wedding, however, they"received a reply politely declining the offer." Related: 10,000 Tiny Pearls Imported From the U.S.: The Secret Behind Queen Elizabeth's $1.6 Million Wedding Dress On the day of the wedding, Queen Elizabeth had a change of heart: "The late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh had been attending a lunch with 200 local volunteers in an adjacent room, and the Queen had asked if she could pop in to congratulate the bride and groom," Marie Claire notes. "The Queen and the Duke then spent about five minutes talking to the newlyweds, Frances and John Canning, and even agreed to pose for a few photographs." According to Time, a source told The Sun, that the Queen didn't want to "spoil their day, but did ask if she could meet the bride and groom.' Luckily, the bride and groom didn't mind that the royals changed their RSVP status at the last minute, attending the wedding even after previously declining the invitation. "It was bizarre that she knew our we had our ceremony, the staff asked us to wait for a moment in the corridor and just a few minutes later the Queen arrived." Frances told The Daily Mail, per Marie Claire. "She knew both our names and apparently we had been especially added to her rota." Her husband went on to note that Queen Elizabeth commented on "how beautiful Frances looked" and that Prince Phillip inquired about their honeymoon plans. They also posed for photos with the couple. Though their arrival was deemed a happy one, it's still an etiquette faux pas to attend a wedding after RSVPing no—in most cases, a couple and their wedding team would struggle to accommodate guests they haven't planned for, and may need to readjust seats and meals in order to make a new arrival feel comfortable. To avoid making this mistake, stick to the RSVP you've given the couple, even if your circumstances have changed. And if you suddenly can't attend a wedding due to illness or another emergency, be sure to let the couple know as early as possible, send your regrets, and mail a thoughtful card and gift. Kylie Jenner Reveals Breast Implant Details on TikTok

The internet has been both respectfully and disrespectfully speculating about whether or not Kylie Jenner has new breast implants, and she just hopped on TikTok to clear things up. Scream. In response to a fan asking Kylie to reveal "what it is you asked for when you had your boobs done," Kylie wrote a very informative "445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol." Not her dropping the name of her literal surgeon! FYI, Kylie opened up about getting her boobs done at age 19 during a 2023 episode of The Kardashians. "You know I got my breasts done before Stormi," she told her friend Stassi, via The Sun. "I had beautiful breasts, like natural tits. Sat perfectly—just gorgeous. Like, perfect size, perfect everything. And I just wish obviously I never got them done to begin with. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about it to wait until after children. Obviously, I have a daughter, too, I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19." Kylie also spoke about her plastic surgery more generally in an interview with Homme Girls, saying "I think a big misconception about me is that I've had so much surgery on my face and that I was some insecure person, and I really wasn't! Yeah, I love full lips and wanted full lips, but growing up I was always the most confident person in the room. I was the girl performing for everyone. I had my one lip insecurity thing, so I got lip filler, and it was the best thing I've ever done. I don't regret it. But I always thought I was cute."
