"After Operation Sindoor, all patriots should join BJP": Suvendu Adhikari hails PM Modi's address
East Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], May 13 (ANI): Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, on Tuesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation, asserting that after Operation Sindoor, all 'patriots' should join the BJP.
Speaking to ANI, Adhikari lauded the Indian Armed Forces for giving a befitting reply to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
'BJP is a nation-first party. All those who are nationalists will have to come along with PM Modi. After Operation Sindoor, all patriots should join the BJP. The PM gave a very good speech yesterday. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply during Operation Sindoor. Our Army has erased many family members of Masood Azhar,' the BJP leader said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that Operation Sindoor has carved out a benchmark in India's fight against terrorism and has 'set up a new parameter and new normal'.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi also referred to India conducting a surgical strike in 2016 at terror launch pads along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and to the air strikes at a terror camp in Pakistan in 2019 and said that after the two operations, Operation Sindoor is India's policy against terrorism.
In Operation Sindoor on May 7, India conducted precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
PM Modi said that the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, Border Security Force, and India's paramilitary forces are constantly on alert.
'After the surgical strike and air strike, now Operation Sindoor is India's policy against terrorism. Operation Sindoor has carved out a new benchmark in our fight against terrorism and has set up a new parameter and new normal,' he said.
'First, If there is a terrorist attack on India, a fitting reply will be given. We will give a befitting response on our terms only. We will take strict action at every place from where the roots of terrorism emerge. Secondly, India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. India will strike precisely and decisively at the terrorist hideouts developing under the cover of nuclear blackmail,' he added. (ANI)

Rs 2,000-cr classroom ‘scam' case: ACB questions former AAP minister Satyendar Jain for five hours
Former AAP Minister Satyendar Jain was questioned on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government for around five hours at their office in North Delhi. On May 3, the ACB had issued summonses to Jain and former AAP minister Manish Sisodia over alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in the construction of classrooms in government schools when their party was in power. Officials said after Sisodia's questioning on Monday, Jain is likely to be called for questioning in the coming week. Jain arrived at the ACB office around 11.45 am, along with his lawyer, and was questioned till a little over 5 pm. Sources said Jain was asked several questions with regard to how the classrooms were built. Officials further added that Jain's response to allegations was repetitive. When asked about a certain kind of favouritism shown to contractors and architects, Jain claimed he did not know them or had any personal relationship with them. On April 30, the ACB had registered an FIR against the two AAP leaders in connection with alleged corruption in the construction of 12,748 classrooms or semi-permanent structures during the previous AAP government's tenure. While Sisodia held the finance and education portfolios in the AAP government, Jain was the minister of health, industries, power, home, urban development, and PWD. Following the summonses, the AAP had said in a statement, 'This is not a scam by any stretch — it's a calculated political ploy by the BJP. They are weaponising institutions to attack AAP leaders and create a false narrative… When the Aam Aadmi Party held power in Delhi, the BJP systematically defanged the ACB to strip it of any real authority. Today, they are using the same weakened institution as a tool to target AAP leaders and further their own agenda.' Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma, who heads the ACB, had earlier confirmed the registration of the FIR. 'The Chief Technical Examiner's report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) pointed out several anomalies in the project, and the report was kept under the carpet for about three years. The case was registered after permission under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act was received from the competent authority,' he said. In 2019, BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Harish Khurana and Neelkant Bakshi had filed a complaint alleging financial irregularities in the construction of classrooms in government schools in three zones. According to the complaint, the construction cost per room came out to approximately Rs 24.86 lakh, exponentially higher than the roughly Rs 5 lakh it takes for similar constructions in Delhi. They also alleged that the project was awarded to 34 contractors, most of whom were associated with the AAP. According to ACB officials, 12,748 semi-permanent structures were supposed to be built at a cost of Rs 1,200 per sqft, but the cost shot up to around Rs 2,292 per sqft during construction. New Delhi: In a moment that may go down as a masterstroke in India's strategic playbook, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6 unveiled the world's tallest railway bridge – the Chenab Bridge – along with a series of infrastructure marvels in Jammu & Kashmir. While hailed as engineering triumphs, these structures hide within them a fierce geopolitical message – India is silently fortifying its Himalayan frontier, and Pakistan and China are not happy. At 359 metres tall, taller than the Eiffel Tower, the steel-arched Chenab Bridge is part of the 272 km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link (USBRL) and connects the Kashmir Valley to the Indian rail grid for the first time. But beyond the awe and applause, it is the military and counter-terror implications that have sent shockwaves across the border. Why Pakistan, China Should Be Worried The bridge sits near the treacherous Pir Panjal Range, a mountainous region that has for decades acted as a gateway for Pakistani infiltrators, including ISI-backed terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Toiba and the Jaish-e-Mohammed. From Poonch and Rajouri to the lush forests near Pahalgam, this route has seen some of the most notorious attacks in India's history. Now, with the Chenab and Anji bridges completed and the valley more accessible to India's armed forces year-round, this infiltration corridor is on the verge of collapse. 'This is not just a bridge. It's a steel-fisted message to our enemies,' said a top defence expert, requesting anonymity. The bridge does not only deter Pakistan. It tightens India's grip over the Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh axis, critical to countering Chinese aggression along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Troops, weapons and surveillance units can now move seamlessly – no more seasonal delays or logistical gaps. Hidden Checkmate This 'Chenab Chakravyuh' – as called by military strategists – is a geo-strategic snare apart from being about connectivity. With 24/7 surveillance cameras, anti-corrosion technologies and blast-resistant materials, the bridge is built to withstand earthquakes of 8.0 magnitude and even terrorist bombing attempts. 'They tried to divide us by using religion and terror. We are responding with steel, resolve and railways,' said a senior Indian Army official deployed in the region. Built with inputs from Indian Institute of Technology and the Defence Research, the Development Organisation (DRDO) and global experts, the Chenab Bridge uses high-tensile steel and advanced cable-crane systems. It is designed to last 120 years even under wind speeds of 260 kmph. And with two Vande Bharat trains flagged off from Katra to Srinagar, civilian integration of the region is now irreversible. What rattles Rawalpindi most is that this is blocking terrorists and rendering their long-game obsolete. For years, Pakistan has exploited difficult terrain and porous routes to fuel unrest in the valley. That door just slammed shut. Even Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir must now contend with the fact that Pir Panjal no longer favours infiltration, it favours India.
