Liverpool are eyeing up a deal for one of Spain's best young talents - who is currently starring at the UEFA Euro Under-21 Championship.
The Reds have got big plans to overhaul their squad this summer - with Richard Hughes and Arne Slot willing to move on from several of their Premier League title-winning players.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold have already gone - with Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez tipped to follow them out the door soon.
And we could even see defenders like Andy Robertson and Jarell Quansah shipped out before the transfer window closes - with plenty of names earmarked to arrive at Anfield during the off-season.
Liverpool scouting Jesus Rodriguez
Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi are already onboard and Milos Kerkez as well as Florian Wirtz will soon be joining them as new Liverpool players for the 2025/26 season.
Liverpool won't stop there - and the latest reports from ABC in Spain are that the Reds are looking at Jesus Rodriguez of Real Betis.

The 19-year-old has just enjoyed a breakthrough season for the LaLiga side, also finishing as a runner-up in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He is now firmly on the radar of many top European clubs, leading Betis to renew his contract last September until 2029. That deal has currently got a €35m buyout clause attached to it and reports indicate that Betis would like to increase that sum to €50m.
Liverpool joined by Leipzig, Villa and Como in Rodriguez interest
'No official offers have been received, while the club waits expectantly to see what moves might come for their academy product,' the report reads.

Rodriguez, a winger, scored in Spain's U21 draw with Italy earlier this week and Spanish media report that Betis hope to see the player's value increase with more exposure in this tournament.
The club plan to keep him for one more season - seeing another full campaign as potentially useful in raising his value even further.
'RB Leipzig, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Como have shown interest, not only in understanding Betis' conditions and asking price for Jesús Rodríguez but also by actively scouting him,' the report reads.

Arteta hits back at criticism of Arsenal captain Odegaard

Mikel Arteta has slammed calls for Martin Odegaard to be stripped of the Arsenal captaincy by insisting there is "no question" the Norway midfielder is the right man to lead their Premier League title challenge. Former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams recently urged Arteta to give England midfielder Declan Rice the armband instead of Odegaard. But the Gunners boss mounted a strong defence of Odegaard's leadership qualities after revealing Arsenal's players had voted for him to be retained as captain. "My opinion is clear, and it's not just my opinion. It's all the staff and especially the players," Arteta told reporters on Friday. "I asked them to vote for the captain and I got the results yesterday. By a mile, by a big, big (margin), by 100 miles, everybody chose the same person, Martin Odegaard, which is the most clear sign that you can have. "It's how they feel about who has to be their captain, to defend, to improve, and win the matches that we want to win, so I think there is no question about that." Arsenal, who last won the English title in 2004, have finished as Premier League runners-up for the last three seasons and are without a trophy since the 2020 FA Cup. Their inability to last the pace in the title race has led to mounting questions about Arsenal's mental strength, with Odegaard among those in the firing line. Arsenal title winner Adams, quoted in the Irish Independent, said: "Every now and again as a manager, you have to put someone who reflects you, who reflects the football club, that you think can actually take you to the next level. "You've got someone in there who's going to play every game all season, that's going to encourage people to come in and lay the foundations of a title-winning team. "Declan Rice can do that, Odegaard can't. Come on Arteta, make him captain." But former Arsenal captain Arteta said he could talk about leadership "for hours" and had no doubts about Odegaard's ability to inspire his team-mates. "What matters the most is how these guys feel about who needs to lead them, how they feel comfortable, who is going to push them, who is going to give them support when it's happening," he said. Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Manchester United on Sunday, then host newly-promoted Leeds before a difficult stretch that will see them play champions Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Newcastle. Arteta admits that run will provide early evidence of their potential in the title race. "Yes, especially with the consistency that we showed in the last three years, and now the margins, we know how small they are," he said. "We know that the competition has increased the level with recruitment, with another year together." Arteta confirmed close-season signings Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi will be fit to play at Old Trafford on Sunday. smg/dmc

2025 La Liga Season Preview: Predictions for how the top 3 teams finish

LaLiga 2025 La Liga Season Preview: Predictions for how the top 3 teams finish Published Aug. 15, 2025 10:32 a.m. ET share facebook x reddit link With the 2026 FIFA World Cup under a year away, many eyes will be on the upcoming La Liga campaign, which kicks off today with two matches. La Liga is home to some of the biggest and brightest stars in world soccer, including Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior. Last year, Barcelona brought home the trophy with Real Madrid just four points behind. How will this year's season work out? Check out the predictions below. Note: League positions reflect last season's finish. Baca was just seconds away from reaching the UEFA Champions League final last season under first-year manager Hansi Flick. This season, the Blaugrana are looking to go at least one step further. Who says they can't? Eighteen-year-old Lamine Yamal is on his way to becoming the world's best player — if he isn't already. Fellow Ballon d'Or candidate Raphinha had 34 goals in all competitions in 2024-25, doubling his previous career-best. Robert Lewandowski, who turns 37 on Aug. 21, remains an elite striker. Pedri runs the show behind them. The rest of the regulars return, too, with forward Marcus Rashford the marquee summer addition. The record 15-time European champs are coming off what, by their standards, was a dreadful 2024-25, with no major titles secured. But Los Blancos still boast one of the deepest, most expensive squads on Planet Fútbol. And Kylian Mbappé & Co. are now led by one of the sport's great up-and-coming coaches in former Real Madrid captain Xabi Alonso, who replaced the legendary Carlo Ancelotti in June. Can Atleti end their four-year title drought and beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to La Liga glory this season? Occasionally, Madrid's other team outlasts Spain's double-headed monster. Longtime manager Diego Simeone will be hoping his team is due after a strong summer transfer window which saw $185 million-worth of new talent arrive — including former Villarreal attacker Álex Baena, USMNT midfielder Johnny Cardoso and Argentine World Cup-winner (and Atlanta United alum) Thiago Almada.
