Ariana Grande Fans Love Both The Old And The New — Just Look At The Charts

Ariana Grande keeps eight songs on the charts in the U.K., as smashes like "Break Free" and ... More "Popular" from Wicked return. Ariana Grande is once again present on multiple tallies in the United Kingdom. The Grammy winner is enjoying another big week across the Atlantic, as a mix of new arrivals and tracks that made her a superstar re-enter, climb, and even manage to debut. She's in the middle of a busy frame, one which sees her fans showing up to buy, buy, buy – and just as she's released the deluxe edition of her latest album, Eternal Sunshine, which is about to become a bestseller all over again as well.
Eight of Grande's tracks appear on at least one ranking in the U.K. this frame. That's an impressive showing for any artist, but what makes it especially noteworthy for her is that several of those wins are actually comebacks. The resurgence takes place as fans rush to snap up physical copies of both her brand new songs and those from years past.
Among all the returning tracks, "Popular" is the highest riser. The tune reappears on the Official Singles Sales chart at No. 20, coming close to its all-time best of No. 15.
Helping drive its return is a recently-released vinyl edition that fans quickly snapped up. "Popular" opens at No. 2 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts, showing how important purchases on these formats sales can be.
Grande's other Wicked track, her take of "Defying Gravity" with Cynthia Erivo, is also a hit again in a big way, though not specifically because it returns. The collaboration opens at No. 3 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles rankings. On the main singles sales tally, the tune climbs alongside "Popular,' coming in one space beneath that song, which remains, well, popular.
"One Last Time" and "Break Free" both manage to reappear on two separate U.K. rankings this frame. "One Last Time" is the stronger performer, as it returns to the top 40 on both tallies it finds a home on. It lands at No. 30 on the Official Vinyl Singles list and No. 37 on the Official Physical Singles chart.
Not far behind that smash is "Break Free," the EDM banger Grande recorded with Zedd back in 2014. Though he isn't officially credited this time around, the collaboration re-enters the vinyl tally at No. 35. It also comes in at No. 43 on the chart measuring top-selling songs across all physical formats.
There's one more comeback worth noting from Grande's catalog, and it's the hit "Problem," featuring Iggy Azalea. That track is back on the Official Physical Singles chart this week. The tune reappears at No. 65, and it has now spent more than a full year on that list.
Not all of Grande's chart activity this frame involves comebacks. Some tracks are simply continuing their rise — or sliding. "The Boy Is Mine" and "Santa Tell Me" both climb more than 30 spaces on the Official Physical Singles ranking. On the other hand, "Yes, And?," the lead single from Eternal Sunshine, drops nearly 30 positions on the same list.

Jesse Williams' hacker appears to have an affinity for Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Cynthia Erivo Gets Support From Oprah, Belts Out 'Sometimes All You Need Is a Song' in Tony Awards Opening

Cynthia Erivo was ready for her close-up on the 2025 Tony Awards. The host, a Tony winner herself, who also has an Emmy and a Grammy, was joined by Oprah Winfrey backstage at the top of the CBS ceremony for a moment that paid homage to both this year's Tony-nominated musical revival Sunset Blvd. and a memorable moment on the press tour for the first Wicked film, where co-star Ariana Grande grabbed Erivo's finger. More from The Hollywood Reporter Finneas Says He Was Tear-Gassed at Los Angeles ICE Protest J Balvin, Doja Cat and Tems to Headline First-Ever FIFA Club World Cup Halftime Show NCT's Doyoung is Ready to 'Soar' Backstage, Erivo walked over to Winfrey and asked what she was doing there and the mogul said she had to be there. Erivo asked, 'What do you do when everybody is telling you what you need to do?' Winfrey replied, 'Forget about them, babe. The only thing you need to do is just be yourself.' With Winfrey pointing at her, Erivo grabbed her finger, just as Grande did to her on the Wicked press tour, and smiled. Erivo then took the stage, wearing a shimmering long, red gown with white accents, and belted out a musical introduction to the power of Broadway, with a chorus in which she crooned, 'Sometimes all you need is a song.' Midway through her performance, Erivo was joined by Broadway Inspirational Voices, sporting white ensembles, who walked up the aisles and assembled behind her onstage. She also went into the audience, getting Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit and Adam Lambert to sing the chorus with her. At another point, Gayle King was spotted singing in the audience. During her song, Erivo cited nominees Oh, Mary; Maybe Happy Endings; Sarah Snook; and George Clooney as well as Glengarry Glen Ross star Kieran Culkin, Othello star Denzel Washington and McNeal star Robert Downey, Jr. And near the end of her performance, she sang, 'When the world is looking gloomy, let that curtain rise. Broadway is a place we all belong.' After the performance, Erivo delivered a brief opening monologue, in which she referenced the Wicked/Wizard of Oz universe: 'As they apparently say in a very fertile piece of intellectual property, 'There's no place like home.'' She went on to cite first-time nominees Cole Escola, Sadie Sink, Louis McCartney and 'up-and-comer' Clooney, who played along with the bit from his seat in the audience. She proclaimed, 'Broadway is back,' before joking, 'If we don't run out of actors from Succession.' Appropriately, the first award went to Succession alum Sarah Snook, who won best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play for The Picture of Dorian Gray. After the first commercial break, Erivo returned to advise winners to keep their acceptance speeches brief, saying she might sing them off. 'Don't mess with me, I've been known to cast spells,' she joked, in another Wicked allusion. Indeed, when Kara Young, making history as the first Black performer to win two Tonys in a row, went over time during her speech, audio of Erivo singing 'My Way' began to play her off. The same thing happened roughly an hour later when the team behind Eureka Day was accepting the award for best revival of a play. Erivo also spent some time in the balcony, saying, 'Everybody loves a balcony seat, except, as we learned this season, Abraham Lincoln,' with a deadpan allusion to Oh, Mary. And she offered that the balcony is the 'safest place to watch Jonathan Groff sing, if getting spit on is not your thing,' referring to his well-known performance quirk. She went on to jokingly introduce Groff as 'a man who makes everyone wet.' Erivo also delivered a black-and-white news brief opening reminiscent of Good Night, and Good Luck, recapping the Broadway season. And she continued to perform, joining Sara Bareilles for a somber duet of 'Tomorrow' from Annie during the In Memoriam segment. Erivo later had another fun moment with Winfrey, strolling by her aisle seat in the audience, where she asked the mogul to look under her seat. Winfrey pulled out a gold bag with candy and a small car. 'You get a car,' Erivo said, calling back to Winfrey's famous meme. 'I've been waiting all night to do that,' she added. And Erivo closed out the show with yet another performance, this time of 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going,' from Dreamgirls. The best and worst looks from the 2025 Tony Awards

Broadway's biggest stars gathered for the most exciting theater event of the year on Sunday: the Tony Awards. Cynthia Erivo hosted the 2025 Tonys at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The evening was full of live performances, including a medley of "Hamilton" songs performed by the original Broadway cast. The attendees included stage actors, Hollywood stars, and even influencers. Some attendees came dressed to impress in ball gowns and statement suits, while others' outfits fell flat. Take a look at the best and worst looks celebrities wore to the 2025 Tony Awards. Lea Michele's tuxedo dress was effortlessly chic. Michele walked the red carpet in a black tuxedo dress designed by Michael Kors. The neckline dipped low, and a slit cut the skirt on one side, creating a sexy and balanced look. Michele also let the dress speak for itself, wearing black heels and simple jewelry. Cecily Strong's floral ensemble was too busy. Strong wore a floor-length, long-sleeve coat dress designed by Badgley Mischka. It had a pretty silhouette, with its collared neckline, belted waist, and full skirt. However, the green dress was covered in an array of hot pink flowers from head to toe. The pattern was overwhelming to the eye, and the look might have been better if Strong wore the coat unbuttoned with an unpatterned shift underneath it to break up the colors. Cynthia Erivo arrived to host the Tonys in a gown with an intricate bodice. Schiaparelli designed Erivo's taupe gown, which had a regal feel that set the tone for her role as host of the evening. The gown's column skirt had a sheen to it, while the off-the-shoulder bodice was covered in sparkly, floral beading. The neckline hovered around Erivo's frame, playing with structure. Meanwhile, the bodice on Katie Holmes' dress didn't look cohesive with her skirt. Holmes wore a custom Prada ensemble to the Tonys. The look featured the two main colors associated with "Wicked," as it had a high-neck, green blouse and a column-style pink skirt adorned with sparkly beading. The two garments looked like they belonged to different outfits, and the green top in particular felt too casual for the Tonys. Holmes could have stood out on the red carpet if she had paired the skirt with a better top, but the look fell flat as it was.
