Bears RT Darnell Wright had hilarious response about switching positions
There's been plenty of debate on whether the Bears should target another offensive lineman, to add to the offseason makeover they've had in the trenches, or target a playmaker, specifically at the running back position.

With the offensive line being rebuilt for head coach Ben Johnson, with the additions of guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and center Drew Dalman, the Bears are no longer as desperate as they once were. The one position still in question is left tackle, which has been occupied by Braxton Jones for the past three years, while right tackle Darnell Wright continued his stellar play on the opposite side.
Speaking to the media during the team's offseason program, Wright was asked about a potential move to left tackle, and he had a hilarious response.
"Well, they said I was going over to quarterback," Wright said.
Wright obviously isn't moving to quarterback, and as the Bears look to establish a powerful offensive line, he's likely cemented at the right tackle position. The quarterback spot will be held down by Caleb Williams, who will enter his second year with his third different head coach, and Wright will play a key role in ensuring his success.

Why the Broncos gave their QBs coach a game ball after Saturday's game
After defeating the Arizona Cardinals 27-7 on Saturday evening, the Denver Broncos gave a game ball to offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. Why? Webb called plays on Saturday and the second-team offense scored on four of their first five drives, and kicker Wil Lutz missed a long field goal attempt on the sixth drive just before halftime. "Davis got a game ball," Broncos coach Sean Payton said after the win. "It was his first time calling a game in an NFL game. I had thrown a couple call sheets or basically stat sheets from my first time and highlighted a few things. I said, 'See if you can beat this.' And he did.' Payton said Davis did a "really good job" with fast, efficient play-calling and a lot of energy. A key to play calling is getting the next play ready as soon as the last play was delivered, and Davis handled it well. "I thought he did a great job," Payton said. "So it's no different than a player that has a real good game. There's a confidence then like, 'I can do this at a high level.'' With his position coach calling plays, backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham went 16-of-23 passing for 240 yards with two touchdowns. Stidham gushed with praise for Webb after the game. 'I know tonight was a big deal for him," Stidham said. "If you are a coach and you want to be a play caller in this league and you get your first opportunity, it is a big deal. Honestly, I was super proud of him and super happy for him. He is an incredible coach, and he is going to be an incredible coach for a very long time in this league. I have been fortunate to be around some of the greats and Davis is amazing, and I can't speak highly enough about him. I wasn't really sure how it was going to go because we only did practice yesterday with him calling it in the headset. It was really fun to see how he flowed within the game. He has a bright future for sure.' Webb, 30, was a backup quarterback in the NFL just three seasons ago. Payton talked Webb into jumping from playing straight into coaching in 2023, and he joined Denver's staff as a quarterbacks coach. Webb is considered a very promising young coach, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him eventually become a head coach. The Broncos gave Webb a title promotion and a pay raise to keep him in 2025, but they probably won't be able to keep him for much longer. Other teams will soon come calling for Webb as a potential offensive coordinator candidate. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Packers Receive Brutal Injury Update Regarding Offensive Weapon
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Green Bay Packers have struggled with injuries throughout preseason and training camp action. Matt LaFleur and company are facing some serious potential issues on that front. While a lot of their injury concerns are expected to be resolved by the time they face the Detroit Lions in Week 1, it's possible that they could be missing some key players. Most recently, the Packers have suffered a brutal injury update regarding one of their offensive weapons. Head coach Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers reacts during the NFL Preseason 2025 game between Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on August 16, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Photo byJosh Jacobs is the clear-cut starting running back and workhorse on the ground for the offense. However, Green Bay was hoping to see second-year running back MarShawn Lloyd step up into a key role as the primary backup behind Jacobs. Read more: Former Packers QB Throws Brutal Shade at Coaching Staff Last season, Lloyd missed almost all of the season due to health issues. Unfortunately, he might start the 2025 season the same way. According to an update from LaFleur, Lloyd is going to miss some time due to the hamstring injury that he suffered in Saturday's preseason matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. "He's gonna miss some time," LaFleur said bluntly. Lloyd was selected by the Packers with the No. 88 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was expected to be an instant impact player after finishing his college career out strong with the USC Trojans. During his rookie season, Lloyd played in just one game and carried the football six times for 15 yards, while also catching one pass for three yards. In his final college season at USC, the 24-year-old running back racked up 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 116 carries, averaging an impressive 7.1 yards per carry. He also caught 13 passes for 232 yards. Read more: Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Shares Significant Injury Update To start his NFL career, Lloyd has run into a lot of bad luck. Whether or not Green Bay will stick with him and keep hoping for him to stay healthy remains to be seen. Obviously, this is not the kind of news that the Packers were hoping to get. Lloyd was playing well in training camp and was expected to have a key role within the offense. This is a disappointing blow for a Green Bay offense that has been expected to be a very powerful offense this season.
