Dubai's Tresind Studio and Orfali Bros on World's 50 Best Restaurants list again
The annual list was revealed on Thursday night in Turin, Italy. Tresind Studio ranked at No 27 (down from No 13 last year), while Orfali Bros re-entered the list at No 37 (up from No 64), making them the only restaurants from the Middle East to make it into the prestigious ranking.
In May, fusion-Indian restaurant Tresind Studio earned its third Michelin star after what head chef Himanshu Saini described as a 'marathon' effort by his team of 'champions' over the past few years. The immersive dining restaurant opened in 2018.
Saini first made headlines in 2022, when Tresind Studio – which is located at St Regis Gardens on Palm Jumeirah – made it on to both the debut Mena's 50 Best list (coming in at No 4) and the Middle East's first Michelin Guide (earning one star, before another in 2023 and a third this year).
Orfali Bros – run by Syrian brothers Omar, Mohamad and Wassim – topped this year's Mena's 50 Best Restaurants, making it the third time in a row that the Michelin-starred restaurant has won the honour.
Located at Wasl 51 Mall in Jumeirah 1, Orfali Bros serves Mediterranean cuisine with a global influence. The creativity of its fusion fare is evident in dishes such as foie gras with quince vinegar and hazelnut miso; umami eclair with porcini emulsion, Marmite, cacao nibs and beef prosciutto; and adobo chicken wings.

Dubai: DXB expects 3.6m passengers in back-to-school travel rush

Dubai starts major road upgrade work near Nad Al Hamar
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started the work on a new 850-m lane for vehicles travelling from Ras Al Khor Road towards Nad Al Hamar Intersection, near Nasser Bin Lootah Mosque, in addition to widening the storage lane at Nad Al Hamar Intersection for traffic approaching from Al Rebat Street and turning left towards Nad Al Hamar. This step forms part of RTA's drive to meet the needs and aspirations of residents and ongoing efforts to develop the road network along vital corridors. The enhancements help ease traffic congestion from Ras Al Khor Road and Al Rebat Street towards Nad Al Hamar Intersection. These traffic solutions form part of the 2025 Rapid Traffic Improvements, specifically the Summer 2025 Improvement Plan, which is scheduled for completion by the month end. The plan aims to enhance traffic flow and road safety and improve the efficiency of the local road network in the area. These improvements will contribute to better daily mobility and residents' quality of life, while supporting RTA's vision as The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility, it stated. With the addition of the new lane towards Nad Al Hamar Intersection, capacity will rise by 33%, from 4,800 to 6,400 vehicles per hour. This improvement will reduce travel time from 15 minutes to 11 minutes, enhancing traffic flow towards Nad Al Hamar by up to 27%, particularly during the evening peak hours. In addition, the expanded storage lane at Nad Al Hamar Intersection for traffic approaching from Al Rebat Street and turning left towards Nad Al Hamar will help reduce queuing at the intersection, ensuring smoother traffic flow towards Ras Al Khor Road. The new expansion serves traffic bound for Nad Al Hamar and surrounding areas, particularly Al Rashidiya, Al Qusais, and Dubai International Airport, said the statement from RTA. Etihad Airways exceeds 20mln passengers in 12 months for first time
ABU DHABI: Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has released its traffic statistics for July 2025, reporting continued growth in passenger volumes and network expansion. In July, Etihad carried 2.0 million passengers, a 19 percent increase compared to July 2024, when the airline flew 1.7 million guests. The passenger load factor rose to 90 percent, up from 89 percent in the same month last year, reflecting strong demand and efficient capacity management. Etihad's operating fleet now stands at 111 aircraft, supporting a growing network of 81 passenger destinations, up from 76 a year earlier. These figures underscore the airline's ongoing investment in fleet and route development. Etihad welcomed 12.2 million passengers year-to-date, a 17 percent increase over the same period in 2024. The average passenger load factor for 2025 so far is 88 percent, compared to 86 percent in the previous year. The airline's rolling 12-month total has reached 20.3 million passengers, further solidifying its position among the region's fastest-growing carriers. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said, 'We continue to see strong momentum in our performance, with passenger numbers in July growing by 19 percent year-on-year.
