Here's where CBS Sports has Florida football in its preseason 136 rankings
Spirits are high in Gainesville for the first time in a while, thanks to a strong 8-5 finish last fall and a Gasparilla Bowl victory over the Tulane Green Wave. With quarterback DJ Lagway under center and a battle-tested roster returning, the early prognostications are mostly bullish on the Orange and Blue despite some injury concerns with the former.
With the clock ticking down on the opening kickoff of the 2025 campaign, CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson put together his full ranking of all 136 FBS schools, placing Florida at No. 12 — between the No. 11 Arizona State Sun Devils and No. 13 Illinois Illini. Compare that with its No. 17 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll's preseason edition.

Also included are the Georgia Bulldogs (No. 5), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 8), LSU Tigers (No. 9), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 16), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 18), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 20), Ole Miss Rebels (No. 22) and Oklahoma Sooners (No. 24).

WATCH: Mike Norvell discusses FSU's second scrimmage
The Florida State Seminoles held their second scrimmage of fall camp on Sunday, and head coach Mike Norvell met with the media afterwards to break down what happened. One player who stood out was Micahi Danzy, who is moving to wide receiver after starting his career at running back. "Another guy who stood out was Micahi Danzy, who had a couple of nice plays," he said. "He showed some looseness, especially on a short pass, and had a solid run. He did some good things with those opportunities" Not only is he learning a new position, but he was also limited in the spring as he competed with the track team. However, Norvell is pleased with what he has seen from the Tallahassee native. "I think he's growing in that confidence, and we still want more from him. When he gets opportunities to go produce, he's showing up. He's done a good job," he said. Norvell also discussed how Tommy Castellanos looked, James Williams, the offensive line, and more. Former MSU 1B Brock Vradenburg signs deal with Philadelphia Phillies
A former Spartans first baseman has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Brock Vradenburg signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week. He has been sent to the Phillies' high-A affiliate the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. Vradenburg was cut be the Miami Marlins earlier this week after a rough couple of seasons within the organization. He was selected by the Marlins in the third round of the 2023 MLB Draft, but was hitting just above .200 in his two years with organization and never reached higher than high-A ball with the organization. Vradenburg played three seasons for the Spartans from 2021 to 2023. During his three years as a Spartan, he hit .326 with 18 home runs and 108 RBIs.
