In September, the High Court in Lilongwe will announce its ruling in the review application brought by controversial couple, Shepherd and Mary Bushiri pertaining to their extradition to South Africa.
The self-proclaimed prophet took to Facebook on Thursday to announce that he was awaiting justice.
"No matter how long the river may be, it has its end. We're waiting for justice, a fair trial, and safety, which we were deprived of in South Africa due to law enforcement corruption and... several assassination attempts we survived," he said.
Bushiri and his wife violated their bail conditions when they fled the country in 2020.
They face a string of charges, including rape, fraud and money laundering.
In April, Bushiri criticised the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decision to sell his private jet, calling it 'not only unjust but also seems to be a clear case of persecution.'
'I am commenting on this matter because it was dismissed in Malawi courts — as the court already made its ruling. The recent announcement by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of South Africa to sell my private jet has left me astonished, given the circumstances surrounding this decision,' Bushiri said in a long statement on Facebook.
This follows a ruling by the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, which reportedly granted the NPA permission to sell Bushiri's luxury jet, valued at R50 million.
The sale is part of an ongoing legal battle tied to an investigation into alleged financial crimes.
The court's decision was made after the NPA applied to liquidate the aircraft to recover assets linked to Bushiri's criminal case.

Cape Town's smash-and-grab hotspots: Where to look out for

New data from Cape Town's Metro Police CCTV network shows a clear pattern in where and when smash-and-grab criminals strike, and the numbers are rising. According to the City of Cape Town, between July 2024 and May 2025, 215 smash-and-grab incidents were recorded via the City's CCTV system. While exact numbers are likely higher, many incidents go unreported or occur outside the network's coverage, the available data points to a few areas that consistently emerge as danger zones. The most dangerous stretch, according to the data, is the corridor between Bonteheuwel and Langa, a long-time hotspot. But recent months have seen a shift. As law enforcement pressure grows in certain zones, criminals are relocating, and other intersections and suburbs are becoming increasingly active. Here are the other major hotspots in Cape Town based on incident data and reports to the Public Emergency Communication Centre: Leonsdale Beaconvale Foreshore Elsies River Industria Epping Industria Milnerton Philippi Many of these locations are clustered in the same general zones, making targeted enforcement more effective, but also more challenging as criminals adapt. The timing of these crimes isn't random. Most incidents happen during late afternoons and early evenings, especially over weekends. According to Alderman JP Smith, the City of Cape Town's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, this is when motorists are tired, distracted, or relaxed, and valuables are often visible on seats after shopping trips or errands. 'These opportunistic criminals strike when people are perhaps less vigilant after a long day at work or stuck in peak-hour traffic,' Alderman Smith noted. The City also provided some tips to reduce the risk of a smash-and-grab incident. These include: Keeping valuables out of sight and not on seats inside the vehicle – putting them in the boot or underneath the seat, making sure it's not visible Locking all doors and closing windows Being cautious, vigilant, and aware of your surroundings Being wary of people loitering about at traffic lights or intersections Being aware of people attempting to give you pamphlets or sell you goods, as not all are legitimate vendors. Police officers arrested for looting washing powder at crash scene

Limpopo police have arrested three SAPS employees, two police officers and a general cleaner stationed at Modimolle SAPS for theft and defeating the ends of justice. A joint investigation by the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit and the Modimolle Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) led to the arrests. According to police reports, the arrests follow a 14 July 2025 incident on the R101 road, about 10 km outside Modimolle towards Polokwane. A delivery truck carrying pallets of washing powder veered off the road around 04:20, spilling some cargo. While the driver tried to secure the scene, bystanders began looting. A marked SAPS vehicle soon arrived, but instead of stopping the looting, the two officers allegedly joined in and loaded washing powder into the SAPS vehicle, leaving the driver behind. The driver documented the incident and reported it, prompting a swift investigation. On 18 July 2025, the joint team searched the residence of one officer and recovered some of the stolen goods. Investigators also linked a general cleaner to the crime. The three suspects, aged between 49 and 55, will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate's Court on 21 July 2025. Police expect more arrests as investigations continue. Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the conduct of the SAPS employees. It is deeply troubling when those trusted to uphold the law betray that trust. We will not tolerate corruption or criminal behaviour within SAPS, and we remain committed to ensuring accountability at every level,' Hadebe said. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to report it to their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
