Henry Golding Expects ‘Crazy Rich Asians' TV Show To Begin Production Soon
After starring as the romantic lead in Jon M. Chu's 2018 adaptation of the Kevin Kwan novel, the actor recently shared a 'promising' update on the upcoming HBO Max series expansion.

'Something's being made. I think we're actually going to do a series. That's what they're trying to give us,' he said on Watch What Happens Live. 'Aiming for like first quarter, even, next year.'
Golding told host Andy Cohen, 'There are scripts hanging around but they haven't been passed on yet. I haven't read anything, but I hear it's promising.'
The Warner Bros. TV series previously opened a development room led by executive producer and showrunner Adele Lim, who penned the movie with Peter Chiarelli. Chu and Kwan also serve as executive producers on the show.
As of February, the original cast was in unofficial chats about returning. A source told Deadline the series will not replace the long-awaited sequel of the 2018 film, but will be based on the same book series.
Nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, Crazy Rich Asians grossed more than $239 million globally, breaking several box office records.
The movie stars Constance Wu as Rachel Chu, an NYU professor who accompanies her longtime boyfriend Nick (Golding) to his best friend's wedding in Singapore, where she learns he's from an extremely wealthy family and considered the country's most eligible bachelor.

Discovery back in May over the umpteenth name change for HBO's streaming network, it was not only a hilarious bit from the cheeky host about a boneheaded marketing decision — it was also an indicator that the difference between HBO and what's now HBO Max might still be a bit… puzzling, to say the least, to some viewers. With so many names, rebrands, and mergers in the mix over the past few years, it's understandable if you're still not totally clear on what's what. So here's a quick explainer to help straighten it all out. And while all HBO shows are also available to stream, the key thing here is that these titles were created for the cable channel first and foremost. In other words, these have never 'aired' on the HBO cable network. That includes streaming-only titles like The Flight Attendant, Love & Death, and Tokyo Vice. The recent movie Mountainhead from Succession creator Jesse Armstrong is also a Max Original. These are part of the HBO Max library, but technically, they're not HBO releases. I know, I know — it feels like splitting hairs. To wrap up, here's what to know about the key differences between all these terms: If you're watching something branded simply as 'HBO,' it's a TV show or movie that originally aired on the HBO cable network. If it says 'Max Original,' it's exclusive to the streaming service. And HBO Max is the umbrella platform where it all lives, along with a whole lot of other Warner Bros. Discovery content. I'll admit, it's definitely understandable that it can be confusing, still. But at least now, the next time John Oliver throws shade at his own streaming home, you'll be in on the joke. Harry Potter fans divided over first image of Nick Frost's Hagrid
Production is officially underway on HBO's forthcoming Harry Potter series and the studio has released a first-look image of actor Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, which has caused some debate among fans. Paapa Essiedu is playing potions professor Severus Snape, Janet McTeer is acting as deputy Hogwarts headmistress and Gryffindor House head Minerva McGonagall, and Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The actors have faced criticism from some fans calling for a boycott of the series due to Rowling's views on transgender people which many consider transphobic. However, Frost, known for Shaun of the Dead, made clear in an interview that his opinions 'don't align in any way, shape or form' with those of the franchise creator. Last month, Rowling, 59, delivered her early verdict on the series in a post on X. 'I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!' the author said. 'I didn't feel like I could sit in a room and someone would say to me, 'You're really unattractive,' and then I could say, 'Wow. Well, first of all, that's hard to hear.
