Nagpur: Union minister
Nitin Gadkari
on Thursday took a swipe at Congress leader
Rahul Gandhi
, saying nobody takes him seriously. Gadkari was replying to a query on Gandhi's letter to PM Narendra Modi and said, "Many people write to the PM. Don't take Rahul seriously, even
Congress party
does not take him seriously."
On June 10, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha had written a letter to PM Modi raising concerns related to students from marginalized communities.
Gadkari was addressing the media in Nagpur on the completion of 11 years of Modi government. Post Operation Sindoor, national security issue has come to the fore and Gadkari was asked about plans to build highways along the country's border with the capability to handle landing and take-off for fighter jets.
"We have built 28 such highways where planes can land and take-off. In Rajasthan, we have 300-400km of desert and there too we have constructed roads like this.
So, we have done it (building roads) from a security point of view," said Gadkari.
There was speculation in the media about 33% reservation for women in Parliament being implemented ahead of Lok Sabha 2029, and Gadkari said, "We are committed to ensuring 33% reservation for women in Parliament and we will do it."

But he did not make comments on the timeline.
Speaking about the govt's achievements, Gadkari said, "What we were able to do in the last 11 years, could not be achieved in 60 years. Before 2014, there were only five cities which had metro train services. But now it's almost two dozen. The number of AIIMS has also increased substantially."
Gadkari said the Narendra Modi-led govt has taken major strides in overall development of the country.
Gadkari said, "You look at North-East, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, everywhere we have constructed a wide network of roads. In NE, we have constructed major bridges which has helped in ease of transportation."
He said having a strong road network, combined with fuel-efficient policies, will help to reduce logistics costs. "If we reduce our logistics costs then India can become very competitive in the export sector," said Gadkari. The Union minister also talked about alignment of greenfield expressways, which is aimed at reducing travel time.

Summoned Again In Formula E Case, KTR's "Lie Detector Test" Dare To Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has been issued a summons, once again, to appear before the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Hyderabad Formula E case. KTR, as he is popularly known, has been asked to appear before the ACB at 10 am on Monday. Reacting to the summons, KTR said the Congress government was trying to keep people busy with a circus and distractions because they cannot run a government. He said the Congress and its "clown Chief Minister's antics won't deter us". KTR said he was being investigated in the Formula-E case, where Rs 44 crore was "transferred from one bank to another, and the money was very much in the account of Formula E". The BRS leader said as a law-abiding citizen, he would fully cooperate with the probe officials, but took a dig at the Chief Minister, referring to a case in which he is facing an ACB probe too. "Mr Revant Reddy, as we both are facing an ongoing ACB investigation, why not both of us take a Lie Detector test in the presence of a Judge, broadcast it on Live Television and let the whole of Telangana decide who's the culprit. Do you have the courage to take the test along with me #BagMan? he posted on X. "Why waste crores of public money by repeated enquiries and propaganda, especially when you keep claiming every day that the state is bankrupt," he asked. Significantly, KTR's sister and BRS MLC K Kavitha has posted support to her brother on X, posting that she strongly condemned the repeated issuance of notices to "our working president @KTRBRS as part of political agenda". She said, "No matter how many conspiracies you hatch, we will continue to expose your failures in the public sphere." Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar reacted to KTR's post on X, saying it reflects his deep, visceral personality and his current mindset. "Calling commissions of inquiry established by due process of law, or the judicial system of India 'a waste of public money...' is the same ignorance as your father who wanted to "rewrite entirely" the Constitution of India drafted by intellectual giants like Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar and a pantheon of greats, and the founding fathers of the nation," he said. "The problem of thinking you are the state is not only wrong, illegal, immoral, but also medieval, patriarchal and feudal. You are not the state. No individual is above the law. Don't you get it at all? Of course, you don't! Your unbridled, unrestrained arrogance from stolen money and corruption is so deep that even 18 months have not been enough for a reality check?" The Congress leader mocked KTR for claiming that the BRS which would win 100 seats, whereas they did not get even 40. He said KTR had claimed that they would decide the next government at the Centre, whereas the people of Telangana had given them no seats.

HC allows Murugan devotees' conference

Madurai: Madras high court on Friday allowed the conduct of the Lord Murugan devotees' conference (Muruga Bakthargalin Aanmeega Maanadu), scheduled in Madurai on June 22. It however clarified certain conditions imposed by Madurai city police. Justice B Pugalendhi passed the order while hearing a plea moved by Hindu Munnani challenging certain conditions imposed by the police while granting permission for the conference. During the course of the hearing, the state submitted that the police passed an order on June 12 granting permission for the conference. However, Hindu Munnani submitted that the police imposed over 50 conditions, some of which it objected to. These included mandating participants to obtain passes from the concerned district police, barring them from conducting bike rally, asking them to obtain permission from HR & CE department and Madurai corporation, and barring use of drone cameras. The court also passed orders on another plea moved by Hindu Munnani seeking a direction to the authorities to permit them to set up temporary miniatures of the six abodes of Lord Murugan and perform pujas ahead of the devotees' conference. Copies of both the orders were not uploaded at the time of going to the press. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . ‘India can be global green credit hub'

Lucknow: Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh delivered an address at the National Conclave on Environmental Services & Environmental Musketeers Awards 2025 in New Delhi on Friday. The event was organised by the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Speaking before a high-level gathering of policy experts, green entrepreneurs, and govt officials, Singh underscored the urgent need for intergenerational climate justice, calling climate action both a moral and constitutional duty. Citing alarming statistics — such as the risk of extinction facing over one million species — he warned of irreversible ecological damage unless urgent systemic reforms are undertaken. Singh highlighted India's untapped $1 billion carbon credit potential, noting that sectors like afforestation, EV infrastructure, and sustainable agriculture remain underutilised. "If leveraged correctly, India can emerge as a global green credit hub and drive SDG-aligned economic growth," he said. He called for policy reforms, improved verification mechanisms, and the integration of green credits into national frameworks. Advocating for a climate-ready workforce, Singh also stressed the need for green skilling programs to align India's youth with the demands of a low-carbon economy.
