Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy Release Pushed To Avoid Clash With Kajol's Maa, Akshay Kumar's Kannapaa

The makers have now decided to postpone the release to avoid a box office clash with two other major films. They have announced new release date
Sonakshi Sinha's much-awaited thriller Nikita Roy will no longer hit theatres on its initially scheduled release date. The film was set to release on June 27. The makers have now decided to postpone the release to avoid a box office clash with two other major films — Kajol's supernatural horror Maa and Akshay Kumar's mythological epic Kannappa.
The makers took to their Instagram handle and shared the announcement, 'Hi guys! We have found ourselves in the midst of multiple releases and a battle for screens… with advice from our well wishers in the fraternity, distributors and exhibitors we have collectively decided to push our release to the 18th of July, so that we can reach a wider audience. Thank you for the immense love you have shown for the film so far, but you'll have to wait a little longer, and we promise you, 18th July will be worth the wait! See you in the theatres!"
Take a look here:
Directed by Kussh S Sinha and written by Pavan Kirpalan, the film also features Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar in key roles. Nikita Roy explores the fragile boundary between perception and reality, unravelling themes of paranoia, buried truths and the human mind's darker recesses. The film's trailer begins with Sonakshi Sinha entering a creepy house in the woods at night, where she faces supernatural things. Paresh Rawal plays a fake spiritual leader who manipulates people and Sonakshi's character is determined to reveal his real truth within a week. She teams up with Arjun Rampal's character to solve a series of murders.
Talking of Kannappa, the film is also set to release on June 27. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the Telugu film Kannappa with a U/A 13+ certificate. Notably, it was the Revising Committee (RC) that passed the film after the Examining Committee (EC) raised objections, prompting its referral to the RC. The RC approved the film but requested several cuts.
They instructed the filmmakers to delete and alter certain visuals involving blood, dead bodies, decapitations, and close-ups of arrow piercings. A 4-second shot of a sunset silhouette was also removed. The cut list indicated the removal of visuals with yellow-red colour, lasting 21 seconds. A computer-generated text referring to tribal names was cut. One scene was modified to show water on a deity instead of a close-up of a leg on the deity.
Furthermore, the filmmakers had to include a disclaimer with a normal-paced voiceover stating that the film is a work of fiction inspired by the legendary tale of Bhakta Kannappa of Sri Kalahasti Temple, near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. It is based on the widely known text Sri Kalahasti Mahatyam by Mahakavi Durjeti from the 16th Century and Basavapuranam from the 13th Century. The disclaimer also clarified that the film does not intend to offend any community or religious sentiments.
Coming to Maa, Kajol has recently opened up about Ajay Devgn's contribution to the blockbuster climax of the film. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Kajol was quizzed about a behind-the-scenes picture from Maa's sets, where Ajay Devgn is seen guiding her. 'Yeah, it's probably the climax. Short parts of the climax. Creatively, yes, of course. He's the producer. So he sat down on the script, and he was part of the whole process of the film. But, Vishal is the director of the film, no two ways about it," she shared.
Maa is a supernatural thriller that pits divine strength against dark forces. Kajol stars as a fierce mother who battles supernatural powers to save her daughter. With a talented ensemble cast, including Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta, Maa promises to deliver a dramatic clash that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sreeleela have seemingly put to rest all speculation of tension between them following the Pushpa 2 dance song controversy. The actresses made a striking joint appearance at a recent event, where their warmth and elegance spoke louder than any rumours. In the photo that's now going viral, Samantha and Sreeleela can be seen exchanging smiles and holding hands, radiating camaraderie. Samantha, dressed in a black sheer gown with an intricate lace bodice and plunging neckline, looked glamorous and confident. Her hair was styled in soft waves, framing her face elegantly. Sreeleela, on the other hand, opted for a bold off-shoulder red gown that accentuated her silhouette. With her hair tied in a chic bun and minimal accessories, she exuded effortless grace. The two actresses were seen chatting and posing side-by-side, putting an end to months of conjecture. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Snehkumar Zala (@sneyhzala) The buzz around their alleged fallout began last year after reports emerged that Sreeleela had replaced Samantha in a special dance number for Pushpa 2. The new track, titled Kissik, drew inevitable comparisons to Samantha's blockbuster hit Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise. While Oo Antava became a cultural phenomenon, the reactions to Kissik were mixed, prompting further scrutiny. During a press conference, Sreeleela addressed the backlash and clarified her decision to be part of the film. 'The song itself will justify my choice. It's not your typical item song. There's a strong narrative reason behind it, which will become clear when the movie releases," she said. Rumours also swirled around pay disparities, with claims that Samantha received Rs 5 crore for her appearance in Oo Antava, while Sreeleela got Rs 2 crore. Laughing off the speculation, Sreeleela said, 'We haven't even discussed the remuneration with the producers yet." First Published: June 27, 2025, 01:39 IST

"Toddlers Are Terrorists": Internet Relates To Father's Funny Rant On 3-Year-Old

Andre Crews, a fitness coach, has left social media in chuckles with a video describing his three-year-old son. In the video, labelled "Toddlers Are Terrorists", Crews described what his child eats or doesn't eat, and also talked about his other activities. He jokingly even said how he has been "held hostage" by his son, named Jameson. He recorded the video while walking his dogs, and captioned it, "The struggle is real every night, toddler parents. Stay strong." Watch the video here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Andre Crews (@andrecrews) Crews said he loves his son, but also spoke about the challenges parents usually face with toddlers, such as their eating habits, playing, toys and bathing, among other things. He said he was just venting his "fatigued frustration". The video was posted on June 3 and went viral with over 3.4 million views and more than 200,000 likes. Internet users have flooded the comment section with their own experiences with a toddler. One user said, "I want this video as my screensaver at work. So when I get up and grab that Celsius and coffee chaser at 2pm, you're wisdom plays for the non-kiddo having masses I work with." "It's the fact that you look like you going home with a vest on lol because you don't know what you getting ready to walk into," another said. "Honestly I'm more surprised you escaped long enough to make this video lol," a third wrote. Another user comment read: "The meanest humans are all between 2 & 4 yrs old." One even said, "It's preparation for the teenage years. Gotta be strong!" "The sleep deprivation is horrible" While speaking to Newsweek, Crews said that toddlers like his son "have all the leverage and cannot be negotiated with." "Toddlers have very little understanding of their emotions and how to express themselves, so their behaviors can be wildly erratic." "We just have to do what they say in the middle of the night or everyone pays the price. The same can be said if we're out in public and something upsets him," he added. "If I don't get him his yogurt or come lie down next to him or rub his back until he falls asleep, he will scream and not only wake up my wife and dogs, but our neighbors in the townhouse community," he continued. "Having a toddler is like living with your best friend from college who habitually drank too much, blacked out, did terrible things, but somehow woke up before you the next morning and brought you a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich." "The sleep deprivation is horrible, but I love being Jameson's dad. He is hands down my favorite person; at least during daylight hours. I am blessed to have a happy, funny, smart, hardworking son. I know that this phase is just temporary, so I'm trying to enjoy it as much as possible," Crews said.
