Telangana Cabinet okays pending DAs for govt staff
Briefing the media after a marathon cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister a Revanth Reddy held here on Thursday night, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that a part of the two DAs will be implemented immediately, and another six months.
Bhatti, who heads the cabinet sub-committee on employees' grievances, gave a detailed presentation and said it was decided that the pending bills of employees amounting to ₹700 crore per month should be cleared without delay.
About the health insurance scheme for employees, he said a trust would be set up under the leadership of the chief secretary and officials would be members of the trust.
Under the scheme, each employee will contribute ₹500 per month, and the government will contribute an equal amount, the Deputy CM said.
He said the government accepted the employee unions' demand for a 12.5 per cent quota in the secretariat. The government was also inclined to form a medical invalidation committee to assess cases of medical retirement, he said.
The cabinet decided not to re-employ retired employees, he said.
Referring to grading of panchayat staff, Bhatti said employees working in village panchayats would be graded according to the panchayats' classification.
The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will be set up for processing employees' promotions, said the minister.
Officers and employees who were transferred during the election period would be sent back to their original positions, he said.
The government agreed to establish a director of nursing, he said, adding the Cabinet decided to increase Rs 2 lakh towards retirement benefits for Anganwadi workers.
The pending bills related to government officials' rental vehicles would be cleared, and the vehicle limits will be revised upwards, he added.

NDA ally Chandrababu is first CM to flag US tariffs: ‘Must take precautions considering impact on agri exports'
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that his government will take precautions considering the impact of the US tariffs imposed on India. Rolling out the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme aimed at farmers, a part of the 'Super Six' promises guaranteed by the TDP in its election manifesto, which aims to give ₹20,000 per year to farmers in the state with support from the Centre, Naidu said, 'As the US has imposed 25% tariffs on India, we must take precautions considering the impact on agricultural exports.' On July 31, US President Donald Trump announced the tariffs on India, and warned of additional penalties. Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party is an NDA partner both at the state and the Centre, is the first CM to raise the issue. While addressing farmers in Darsi in Prakasam district, Naidu assured aqua farmers that his government will extend all help to them to overcome the 25 per cent US tariffs. 'My government is providing support to aqua farmers by providing them electricity at Rs 1.50 per unit. The increase in tariff by the US will burden aqua farmers in the state. We have taken it into consideration and we act upon it. I have called for a meeting with all aqua farmers. We will discuss with them the issue and prepare an action plan to absorb that extra burden,'' he said. In April, Naidu had written to the Centre to shield the state's aquaculture products and aqua sector from the heavy tariffs being levied by the Trump administration. In a letter to the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, the Chief Minister asked the Centre to come to the rescue of aqua farmers by making efforts to exempt aqua products from this additional duty. Informing the Union Minister that the fisheries sector is playing a crucial role in the State's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Naidu said that the Centre should stand by the aqua farmers when they are in deep crisis. The Chief Minister mentioned in the letter that the US Administration has imposed a 27 per cent import duty on marine food exports from India. In 2023-24 fiscal marine food products worth $2.55 billion were exported from India to the US of which shrimp alone accounted for 92 per cent, he stated. The US is imposing a duty of only 10 per cent on exporters like Ecuador which indirectly harms India while benefiting such countries, he wrote.

Karnataka's Minister for Energy KJ George New Delhi: In a major development, Karnataka's Minister for Energy KJ George refuted any connection between recent Income Tax department raids at a prominent tech park in Bengaluru and the state's smart meter initiative or the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) and said that they were 'a routine regulatory exercise' related to IT filings and had nothing to do with any government project. In a firm statement issued via his official social media handle, the minister termed the allegations circulating in a section of the media as 'completely baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.' 'There is no connection whatsoever between the smart meter project or BESCOM and the Income Tax department's raids,' George said. 'I strongly condemn this attempt to mislead the public and draw false links to the Energy Department.' This comes after the Income Tax Department conducted surveys from July 28 to 30 at multiple locations connected to George and real estate tycoon Jitu Virwani of the Embassy Group, including Golflinks Software Park Private Limited in Bengaluru. Echoing this stance, Golflinks Software Park clarified in an official statement that the survey conducted under Section 133A of the Income Tax Act was routine in nature and 'has no connection to public officials, state government departments, BESCOM contracts, or smart meter-related matters.'
