In a poignant gesture, Kataria posted a heartfelt wish for a drug-free Chandigarh on the 'wish tree', a symbolic installation that serves as a reminder of the collective aspirations for a healthier community. The tree, adorned with wishes from students, teachers, and community leaders, stands as a beacon of hope and commitment to the cause.
The campaign will encompass a series of activities designed to engage and educate the youth, including slogan writing/poster making competitions, 'adopt a tree', and talks by experts. Kataria emphasised the importance of collective action, stating, "The fight against drugs is not just the responsibility of the govt but of every individual in our society. Let us unite to create a safer, drug-free environment for our youth."
The administrator visited the school premises and commended the mural wall made by the students under the able guidance of the faculty. Thereafter, Kataria visited the integrated room where the students with special needs are given special education under the inclusive education of NEP 2020, aiming to create a system where all learners, regardless of their background, abilities, or disabilities, have equal access to quality education. The administrator was praiseworthy of the midday meal prepared in the cluster kitchen of the school.

The proposed hospital, with talent at par with AIIMS, will further strengthen the health and medical education ecosystem in the Chandigarh region. The project was first mooted in 2024 during the visit of the Union Home Secretary to Chandigarh. The Union Home Secretary directed the administration to work on projects promoting Chandigarh as a hub for regional and national-level healthcare. The UT administration initially proposed a major expansion of the GMSH-16. In response, the Centre asked the UT to work on a more long-term vision and develop a 'centre of excellence' along the lines of AIIMS. Thereafter, the UT prepared the proposal, and discussions were held at the level of Niti Aayog. The health facilities in the UT not only cater to residents of the city but also to adjoining areas of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and far-flung areas. The Niti Aayog meeting was held to discuss strengthening the existing healthcare infrastructure in the UT and to decongest the present govt hospitals in the city. In the city's neighbourhood, plans for the development of major healthcare infrastructure are yet to be fully implemented. For instance, the Medicity in New Chandigarh is yet to take off fully. 2000-bed facility The hospital is planned to be a 2000-bed facility and will be the second-largest hospital in Chandigarh after PGIMER. A s per the initial plans for the hospital, it will have a 500-bed emergency, general hospital, day care centre, and geriatric centre. There will be a 500-bed advanced mother and child centre, a 300-bed critical care, trauma, and burn unit, and a 300-bed super specialty block, including an advanced neuroscience centre, advanced cardiac centre, advanced GI and liver centre, and advanced renal and dialysis centre. Additionally, there will be a 200-bed mental healthcare centre, including a drug de-addiction centre, and a 200-bed advanced communicable and non-communicable disease centre. "Apart from this, an integrated clinical and public health laboratory, advanced imaging and diagnostic facility, and an academic block where the examination cell, telemedicine hub, conference hall, and other facilities will be located. An administrative block will be built separately," said a UT official. MSID:: 121627918 413 |

New York hit by Canada wildfire smoke, advisory issued over outdoor activities

Smoke from Canadian wildfires started making air quality worse in the eastern U.S. on Wednesday as several Midwestern states battled conditions deemed unhealthy by the federal government. The fires have forced thousands of Canadians to flee their homes and sent smoke as far as Europe. Parts of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and New York had areas of moderate air quality concern, and officials advised sensitive people to consider reducing outdoor activity. In the U.S., smoke lingered on the skylines of cities from Kansas City to Minneapolis, and a swath of the region had unhealthy air quality on Wednesday, according to an Environmental Protection Agency map. Iowa issued a statewide air quality alert through early Thursday, urging residents to limit certain outdoor activities and warning of possible health effects due to the thick smoke. Wisconsin officials made similar suggestions as the smoke drifted southeast across the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo In Michigan's Upper Peninsula, authorities advised people shut windows at night, avoid strenuous activity outside and watch for breathing issues.
