Lambo's scary twelve-pot supercar returns to terrorise 2025 in the shape of Eccentrica's bold reinvention
13 minutes 10 seconds
Top Gear can confirm the original 1990s Lamborghini Diablo lives up to its myth and legend: it's exactly as scary as you think it is, whether you're doing 120mph along a derestricted road or just reversing the damn thing at 2mph.
Welcome then, to a new era of fear. Emanual Colombini, an Italian furniture magnate and Lamborghini owner, has invested his resources into resurrecting Lamborghini's original scary poster car for a new generation. And on first glance, it's a bold reinvention. There's a bit of history mixed into the new looks, because Lambo's former tech boss Maurizio Reggiani is a consultant on the project, attempting to right some of the issues that plagued the underdeveloped - but still iconic - original.

So its steel spaceframe has been reinforced with carbon fibre. There are new suspension uprights, joints and hubs. Heck, there's even traction control and adjustable chassis modes. Plus, it gets proper brakes this time out. The engine remains a hearty 5.7-litre V12, but here it's been treated to new cams, a new ECU, and 50bhp more to record a 540bhp total. Sounds... proper, too.
Find out just how proper as Top Gear's Tom Ford gets to grips with the reinvented Italian supercar in our video up above. You might like

BMW Offers Sweet 2025 X1 Lease Deal for August

A compact luxury SUV with bite The BMW X1 has long served as the brand's entry point into the SUV lineup, blending everyday practicality with the sporty character that defines BMW. For 2025, the X1 continues that tradition with sharp styling, a premium interior, and available performance that rivals larger crossovers. Whether used as a city runabout or a small family hauler, the X1's mix of refinement and agility has kept it competitive in the crowded luxury compact SUV space. Rivals like the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Volvo XC40 offer their own takes on the formula, but the BMW has steadily built a reputation for being one of the most engaging to drive. August lease offers make it tempting This month, BMW is making the top-trim X1 M35i more attainable with a new lease offer. Shoppers can get into a 2025 X1 M35i for $589 per month for 39 months, with $5,219 due at signing. Qualified returning BMW customers may also be eligible for up to $1,000 in Loyalty Credit, sweetening the deal further. What's new for 2025 The 2025 BMW X1 carries forward the recent redesign that gave it a bolder, more athletic stance. The M35i variant turns things up a notch, packing a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers 312 horsepower through BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW X1 — Source: BMW That power translates into a 0–60 mph time of just 5.2 seconds—making it one of the quickest SUVs in its class. Inside, buyers get BMW's curved digital display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an available head-up display. High-quality materials and thoughtful design touches help the cabin feel upscale, while split-folding rear seats add everyday practicality. Why the X1 still makes sense in 2025 BMW X1 — Source: BMW The X1 has always been about blending performance with versatility, and the 2025 model continues that mission. Standard driver-assist tech, a roomy second row for a small SUV, and BMW's extensive dealer network make ownership relatively straightforward. The M35i trim adds a level of fun that few competitors in this size bracket can match, combining hot-hatch performance with luxury SUV comfort. Final thoughts Compact luxury SUVs are everywhere, but the BMW X1 distinguishes itself with sharp handling, premium features, and serious performance in M35i form. With August's lease offer and available loyalty credit, it's an especially attractive time for BMW fans—or anyone curious about making the jump into a premium small SUV. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. What on earth has happened to the Vauxhall Corsa?

Vauxhall has joined the Gran Turismo franchise with its new Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept. It'll be shown in the metal at the Munich Motor Show in September, and available to drive in the racing game soon after. But this isn't just some far-fetched concept. As its name implies, this is a vision of the all-new Vauxhall Corsa supermini that's due to arrive in 2027, and of that car's potential high-performance GSE derivative. Advertisement - Article continues below The concept takes the form of a three-door hatchback, with lots of extravagant design elements starting with its staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels mounted within huge wheelarches. These are integrated at the rear, but separated into separate 'spats' on the front axle that are painted in a contrasting black colour. The 'Vizor' design signature is present at the front, and it's been combined with new lighting to create a cross-like design. There are plenty of traditional concept car elements, such as an aggressive air intake and bonnet vent, both painted in a contrasting yellow finish. Other design flourishes, such as the triangular roof-mounted wing and enormous rear diffuser are also painted in a contrasting finish, but they are also movable, and can be extended to help improve the aerodynamics at high speeds. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below The rear end is where the concept moves Vauxhall's design language on most, with a clean and simple glazed tail that integrates an illuminated Vauxhall badge and a lightbar. Peer inside and you'll also catch a few more concept car elements, such as pushrod Bilstein suspension for the rear axle. It'll be 2027 before anyone can buy the new Vauxhall Corsa but you can spec the current car now with our Buy A Car service and choose from top offers from dealers around the UK. We can help you sell your old car too… The cabin is pure concept with almost no recognisable user interface and only a yoke-style steering wheel. Instead, there's a head-up display and back-lit fabrics to give the driver information, such as if there's another car in the blind spot. The bucket seats are also very novel, because the bottom and top sections are not connected, but mounted on the floor and roof. Vauxhall has also confirmed details of the show car's all-electric powertrain. This consists of two 400bhp electric motors, one mounted on each axle, that combine to produce 800bhp and 800Nm of torque. They draw power from an 82kWh battery pack, which is a very generous size for something the size of this concept. This layout also gives the concept all-wheel drive, and helped by a very low weight of just 1,170kg, it will rocket to 62mph in a claimed two seconds, and onto a top speed of 199mph. While the dual-motor layout is pure concept-car fodder, the show car sits on the new SLTA-S platform, which will be shared across different superminis and SUVs throughout the Stellantis portfolio from next year. There will also be a hot GSE version, which will probably feature a single-motor front-wheel-drive layout not dissimilar to the Peugeot 208 GTi, which is coming later this year. We asked Vauxhall's chief designer Mark Adams about the reason for creating the Corsa GSE Vision concept, and he said: 'We wanted to build this because introducing the GSE brand in the right way, it was important to put the vision here first. But it then happens that following hot on the heels of this is a real first production car. It's not exactly the same as this, but then it's the first of several to come.' All that's left to do is drive it, and thanks to the Gran Turismo connection this is something everyone can do. However, we're more interested in how this concept relates to the Corsa you'll be able to go out and buy in 2027, hopefully with a high-performance GSE model available in the line-up. Major car manufacturer issues ANOTHER huge recall weeks after thousands of Brits warned to ‘stop driving' Citroen models

A MAJOR car manufacturer has issued another significant vehicle recall - just weeks after a previous recall involving Citroen and DS models. Stellantis recently sent out a 'stop driving' alert to British motorists. 4 4 4 4 Their urgent airbag recall involved cars by both Citroen and DS, both under the Stellantis umbrella, specifically the Citroen C3 (2009-2019), DS3 (2009-2019), Citroen C4 (2010-2011), DS4 (2010-2011) and DS5 (2010-2013), which all require repairs and will impact some 130,000 vehicles. The recall was prompted by concerns over airbags supplied by the now-defunct Japanese manufacturer Takata, whose components have been linked to fatal accidents. In one recent incident, a driver in France was killed after a minor collision resulted in metal shrapnel from a faulty airbag hitting them - prompting an immediate reaction from the company. But things are now even worse for the multinational corporation, as a fault has since been discovered in motors from another one of their famous brands, Peugeot. Specifically, Peugeot 308 models, manufactured between 12 October 2015 and 1 December 2019, are the subject of a recall over concerns were raised regarding the seat belt anchorage on the second row of seats. It is believed there's a potential risk of rupture in the event of a crash - which is serious enough for Stellantis to deem the repair work "essential". 'The rear seat belt anchors may not be able to withstand the force of the impact sufficiently', according to official recall site RappelConso. 'This could limit the belt's ability to restrain a passenger in the event of an accident resulting in injuries.' Customers who believe they own a Peugeot 308 model from this production period have been advised to contact their service centre to arrange a free repair. Car Dealer Mag believe approximately 250,000 vehicles worldwide may be affected - although the exact number of UK drivers impacted remains unclear. WHO ARE STELLANTIS? 'UNACCEPTABLE' Consumer protection organisation, Which?, recently slammed Stellantis for their "chaotic" handling of their Citroen/DS recall - calling on them to make urgent improvements. Thousands of customers across the country have been left unable to drive their cars, with many having no alternative modes of transport. No incidents are yet to be reported in the UK, but the consumer group has expressed its concern for the lack of clarity around available compensation for customers. They outlined how "major upheaval" had been caused for customers who were reliant on their cars. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander also expressed "serious concerns" over Stellantis and their handling of the airbag recall. She said their customer support has been inadequate, with a lack of transparency and disruption to motorists. In a message to the firm, she wrote: 'I am writing to you to express serious concerns about the customer impact of the stop-drive recall currently affecting Citroen and DS Automobiles cars in the United Kingdom. 'While I acknowledge and commend the pace at which Stellantis has initiated and progressed the recall programme, I must make clear that the level of disruption experienced by UK motorists - particularly the most vulnerable - is unacceptable. 'I have received numerous reports from Members of Parliament and their constituents detailing distressing experiences, lack of clear guidance and inadequate support for alternative transport arrangements.' Stellantis is ranked as the world's fifth-largest automaker by global sales volume. Fiat, Jeep, Maserati and Vauxhall.
