New Brunswick fatal police shooting investigated by attorney general
The woman's name has not been released by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. The police officer's name also has not yet been released.
According to the Attorney General's Office, the morning of Aug. 8, New Brunswick police received a complaint about a resident walking around with a knife in the hallway of a Neilson Street apartment building.
When officers arrived at a woman's apartment they started talking to her from behind a closed apartment door. The woman then exited the apartment with a knife and the officers encountered her in the hallway, according to the Attorney General's Office.
New Brunswick police officers used a pepper spray and a Taser to subdue the woman, and one officer deployed his service weapon, striking the her, the Attorney General's Office said.
First aid was rendered at the scene before the woman was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where she was pronounced dead.
Police recovered a knife at the scene, according to the Attorney General's Office.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.
Under New Jersey law, the Attorney General's Office is required to investigate a person's death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer's official capacity or while the person is in police custody. The investigation is then to be presented to a grand jury to determine if the evidence supports an indictment against the officer.

Delays seen in small village due to car crash
The emergency services were seen in a small Buckinghamshire town following a single-vehicle car crash. On the morning of Monday, August 11, two off-duty Specials from Thames Valley Police independently came across the incident that had occurred in Waddesdon, just outside Aylesbury. A photo taken at the scene revealed that a Fiat Punto had crashed into an island in the area. A spokesperson from the force said: 'After ensuring that the police and SCAS [South Central Ambulance Service] had been called, they gave reassurance to the driver and worked together to keep traffic flowing, maintaining everyone's safety. 'This allowed the incident to be resolved quickly once on-duty Emergency Services arrived. 'Thanks also go to two members of the public who stopped to assist, including a former Special Constable who served the community 30 years ago.'

Four people have been arrested in a series of burglaries that included the home of actor Brad Pitt, law enforcement sources told The Times. The suspects were arrested in a series of burglaries across Los Angeles — some of which targeted celebrities, including the Los Feliz home of Pitt, according to two law enforcement sources.
