Azadi OTT Release Date: Sreenath Bhasi and Vani Viswanath's latest Malayalam outing is finally ready to make its digital debut. Released globally on May 23 this year, the film earned about Rs 7 lakh at the box office. With such a miserable fate in theatres, the thriller is set to live a second life on OTT. Azadi will be streaming on ManoramaMAX starting June 27, 2025.
Azadi's cast and crew
Other than the lead duo, Azadi also stars Lal, Vani Viswanath, Saiju Kurup, Vijayakumar, Maala Parvathi, Gilu Joseph, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, T. G. Ravi and Rajesh Sharma among others. Directed by debutant Jo George and written by Sagar, the film is produced by Faizal Raja under the banner of Little Crew Production. This Varun Unni musical is cinematographed by Saneesh Stanly and edited by Noufal Abdulla.
Azadi's plot overview
Set primarily within the confines of Kottayam Medical College, Azadi follows Ganga, a pregnant prisoner accused of murdering a political leader's son. As she is admitted to the hospital to deliver her baby, her husband Raghu devises a 24-hour escape plan involving a network of insiders. However, their past catches up with them as adversaries infiltrate the hospital, turning the escape mission into a dangerous fight for survival.
Azadi's review
A part of the Lensemen's review of the film read, 'Azadi is a movie that had the potential to be at least engaging if it had better writing. The way it conceals the whole plan is actually interesting on a conceptual level, but when the writing forces you to look at every twist with a frowning face, it becomes very difficult to enjoy a thriller like this. If your film viewing frequency is extremely low, Azadi might feel like a passable watch.'

Visitors complain of ‘poor' facilities at amusement park
Bhubaneswar: Visitors to BDA City Centre, formerly known as Nicco Park, have expressed dissatisfaction with the facility's deteriorating conditions despite an entry fee of Rs 100. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Once a bustling hub of entertainment, the park now leaves visitors disheartened, with many questioning the value of the entry fee given the subpar experience. The park, which previously boasted a variety of attractions, including a mini toy train, merry-go-round, caterpillar, tilt-a-whirl, moonraker and boating, now offers only three operational rides — the vortex ride, water coaster and striking car. The reduction in available attractions has left many visitors feeling short-changed. G Nikita, a resident, shared her disappointment after a recent visit. "We saw the photos of the park and facilities and went there to spend a good time. First they took Rs 700 for seven people, but the rides they provided were not up to the mark. The other city parks are way better," she claimed. Siddhant Kumar Barai, a corporate employee, said, "The worst part is the odour. The water coasters are in a dilapidated condition. The pond for boating also stinks." In response, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced plans for a comprehensive redevelopment of the park. The ambitious project, at an estimated budget of Rs 200 crore, will include the development of a 3.5-km stormwater channel and a lake zone along drainage channel 10 near Smart Janpath. BDA vice-chairman N Thirumala Naik said, "The issue was discussed recently at a high-level meeting and it was decided that an agency will be roped in for redevelopment of the park." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now A tender for the project is expected to be floated soon. Suprabha Dhal, from the park's operating team, attributed the decline in visitor numbers to damage from past cyclones and the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. "Earlier, the daily footfall used to be 5,000, but now there are not more than 200 visitors. The govt is planning a revamp of the park and will allocate funds for the purpose. We are hopeful the park will return to its earlier glory soon," Dhal said.

Did Aamir Khan reject Rs 120 crore OTT deal for Sitaare Zameen Par, championing theatre-first release model? Here's what we know
Aamir Khan is once again taking an unconventional route with his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. The actor has reportedly declined a massive Rs 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the film's digital rights, choosing instead to delay its OTT release in a bid to revive India's theatre-going culture. According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, Khan's decision is a calculated move to push audiences back into cinema halls. 'The idea is to make people choose the big screen experience again by not giving them the home-viewing option so soon," a source close to the development told News18. However, there has been no official statement from Aamir on the same. Aamir stands firm against early OTT releases Over the last few years, the industry has witnessed a swift shift toward streaming platforms, with most films dropping on OTT just a few weeks after their theatrical debut. Aamir Khan, however, believes this model has significantly contributed to the drop in footfalls at movie theatres. This isn't the first offer Khan has turned down either. Sources reveal that Netflix had also expressed interest in acquiring Sitaare Zameen Par, but the actor-producer reportedly declined that deal as well, firmly standing by a delayed digital release strategy. Sitaare Zameen Par, which stars Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza, is set for a theatrical release on June 20. The film is expected to carry a strong emotional core, much like Khan's critically acclaimed 2007 directorial Taare Zameen Par, and is already building buzz for its unique release strategy.
