Morocco's Tourism Arrivals Reached 11.6 Million Tourists by End of July
Rabat – Morocco has welcomed 11.6 million tourists by the end of July, the Ministry of Tourism announced today. In a new statement, the ministry said the number represents a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The ministry attributed the momentum to the high number of arrivals among Moroccans residing abroad. 'These figures confirm the continuation of strong momentum,' the ministry said, adding that 52% of arrivals were from diaspora members. The statement further denied speculation suggesting that there has been a notable decline in the arrivals of Moroccan diaspora members this season compared to previous years. The month of July recorded 2.7 million arrivals, representing an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year, the ministry revealed. Foreign tourist arrivals reached 875,000, up by 2% year-on-year, while 1.8 million Moroccans residing abroad arrived in Morocco in July, representing a 7% increase. Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor celebrated the new momentum, taking pride in the fact that Morocco continues to be a 'destination of both the heart and discourse for millions of tourists around the world.' This momentum is also driven by local tourists, Morocco's diaspora, and international visitors, she said, asserting that the trajectory takes place in a context marked by constant attention to tourist expectation as part of Morocco's 2023-2026 tourism roadmap. Last year, Morocco recorded 17.4 million tourist arrivals. The North African kingdom seeks to capitalize on the prestigious events that it will host in the upcoming seasons. Morocco expects tourism arrivals to further increase in the coming months, especially as it is preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations later this year. By 2030, Morocco aims to attract 26 million visitors. The normally daunting goal appears to be reachable given that the country will be co-hosting the FIFA World Cup that year. Morocco Emerges as Only Country To Deliver Humanitarian Aid Directly Into Gaza
Rabat – Morocco has become the first country to deliver humanitarian aid directly to Palestinians on the ground. On July 30, King Mohammed VI ordered the government to send nearly 180 tons of emergency supplies, including food, medical aid, and shelter materials, to support Palestinians through a coordinated delivery route that ensures immediate impact. The move comes as Gaza has been facing forced starvation tactics imposed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), leading to the death of over 197 people, particularly children and newborns. The aid, which has been directly sent to Gaza, received applause from senior Palestinian officials who emphasized that Morocco's humanitarian initiative will have a positive and tangible impact on civilians. Morocco's aid reached Gaza without intermediaries, reflecting the country's decisive role in regional geopolitics. It also reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the Palestinians. For decades, Morocco has been emphasizing the importance of the two-state solution and calling for a dialogue to end the long-standing conflict, one that guarantees Palestinians their legitimate right to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Morocco's commitment has also been reflected through its repeated calls for the end of the IOF's genocidal war, urging for an immediate ceasefire. In addition, Moroccans have been rallying since October 2023, calling for an international intervention through massive protests and marches across Morocco. In June last year, King Mohammed VI also sent urgent directives to deploy a medical aid operation for people in Gaza. The humanitarian initiative included 40 tons of medical supplies. The same year also saw Morocco sending another 4 tons of humanitarian aid to the enclave. As with last year's operations, Morocco's most recent aid has been handed directly to beneficiaries in a calm and respectful atmosphere that ensures Palestinians' dignity, reflecting the country's solidarity and its commitment toward the Palestinian cause. A source familiar with the humanitarian aid to Gaza confirmed to Morocco World News that the new initiative 'reflects the tangible solidarity that constantly drives Morocco, as well as the unwavering commitment' of King Mohammed VI to the Palestinian cause. Despite international appeals, the IOF continues its starvation war and genocidal campaign against Palestinians. According to the Palestinian news agency, the 'ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies. The severe famine is intertwined with the genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.' IOF closed all border crossings into Gaza since March 2, blocking the entry of aid, which led to further starvation and malnutrition. The merciless campaign also killed over 209,000 through land and air attacks, while more than 11,000 remain missing. Tags: Aid looting Gazagaza genocide

European Logistics Group Launches Direct Shipping Route from Morocco to Northern Europe
Rabat — European logistics company Samskip has launched the Moroccan Reefer Service (MRS). This new weekly maritime line connects Agadir and Casablanca directly to Thamesport in the UK and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. This service transports fresh products and represents the first short, fast, and sustainable shipping route from Morocco to Northern Europe. Faster alternative for Moroccan exporters The MRS targets Moroccan fruit and vegetable exporters by offering some of the fastest door-to-door transit times on the market. The service is designed to provide a credible alternative to transport that combines Mediterranean ferry and road routes, which often takes longer and costs more. The service uses 45-foot refrigerated containers that preserve product freshness while meeting road transport standards. Through Samskip's European network, goods that arrive in Rotterdam will benefit from rapid transshipment to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, and the Baltic countries, with delivery within days. With the new service, shipments from Agadir to Ireland can arrive in just six days. Strategic partnership with Moroccan fruit board Samskip has signed a long-term partnership with the Moroccan Fruit Board to support this initiative. 'This new connection marks a major milestone, not just for Samskip, but for the entire supply chain between Morocco and Northern Europe,' said Ólafur Orri Ólafsson, Chief Business Officer at Samskip. He noted that after consultations with the sector's professionals, the company is determined to 'deliver a service that's faster, greener, and more reliable.' According to the company, this service reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to full road transport. The integration of customs formalities and inland delivery also streamlines the logistics chain and strengthens the competitiveness of Moroccan exports. Strengthening Morocco's export position With this new maritime corridor, Morocco strengthens its position as a fresh produce export hub to Europe while embracing sustainable logistics practices. The direct shipping route eliminates the need for complex multi-modal transport arrangements and provides Moroccan producers with faster access to Northern European markets. The launch of the MRS demonstrates the growing demand for efficient cold chain logistics between the North African country and Europe, particularly for time-sensitive fresh produce that requires careful temperature control throughout the journey.
