With the reveal of the Optiq-V, Cadillac now has two fully electric members of its growing V-Series high-performance lineup, joining the larger Lyriq-V. The gas-powered V-Series range includes the fire-breathing CT5-V Blackwing with its raucous V8, but for those who prefer their performance to be delivered in the drama-free fashion of an EV, it's all about the Lyriq-V and new Optiq-V. Here are five key differences between these high-performance EVs from Cadillac.
1. Smaller, Lighter Optiq-V Likely To Be More Agile

The most obvious difference between these two electric SUVs comes down to size. The Optiq-V measures 190 inches in body length, making it seven inches shorter than the Lyriq-V. Width is just 2.4 inches more for the Lyriq-V, while the Optiq-V is 0.7 inches taller.
Perhaps more significant than size is weight. Both are heavy beasts, as is expected for electric SUVs. The Lyriq-V comes in at a monster 5,980 pounds, while the Optiq-V weighs 5,445 lbs – that 535-pound difference could make the Optiq-V feel more responsive through the corners. But, while both have electronic power steering, the Lyriq-V has a continuously variable system that adjusts the amount of assistance needed based on factors like vehicle speed.
It will be interesting to gauge the effect of these differences in a back-to-back test drive.
2. Lyriq-V Has Small Performance Edge
Lyriq-V owners wouldn't have been pleased if the smaller, cheaper Optiq-V turned out to be quicker, so Cadillac appears to have perfectly tuned the smaller SUV to be slightly slower.
Both have dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, but whereas the Optiq-V makes 519 horsepower and 650-lb-ft of torque, the Lyriq-V produces 615 hp – torque remains the same for the larger vehicle.
The Optiq-V has a claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, whereas the Lyriq-V cuts that down to 3.3 seconds, so retains its title as the quickest Cadillac ever. Both these times require the EVs to be in Velocity Max mode, a selectable setting that allows for peak performance.
3. Optiq-V Has Smaller Battery But Nearly Matches Lyriq-V's Range

A battery capacity of 85 kWh applies to the Optiq-V, which is sufficient for an estimated 275 miles of range. The Lyriq-V has a larger 102-kWh battery and an estimated range of 285 miles – only 10 miles more than its smaller sibling. Based on these figures, it's likely that the Optiq-V will be quite a bit more efficient, most of which stems from its 535-pound weight advantage.
4. Native NACS Inlet Unique To Optiq-V

Not only is the Optiq-V more efficient, but it's the first vehicle from General Motors that will have a native NACS (North American Charging Standard) inlet. This is a welcome move that will make fast-charging options more convenient across the country, as the Optiq-V can make use of the Tesla Supercharger network. The Lyriq-V still requires a NACS DC GM-approved adaptor.
'Integrating the native NACS port into our vehicle architecture is an important step forward, reflecting our leadership in engineering and our commitment to providing our customers with more charging options,' said John Cockburn, Optiq-V chief engineer.
5. Price Difference Of Over $10,000

So, how much do you save if you go for the smaller and (slightly) slower of Cadillac's high-performance electric SUVs? Well, the 2026 Cadillac Optiq-V will cost you $68,795, including the destination charge. For the 2026 Lyriq-V, the equivalent price (including the destination charge) is $80,090.
You do get a few better features with the Lyriq-V, such as the standard 23-speaker AKG sound system, whereas the Optiq-V has a 19-speaker version. However, the Optiq-V is also well-specified and matches the Lyriq-V's immersive 33-inch dashboard display.
As things stand now – unless we needed the extra space and assuming the driving experience is similar – we'd be tempted to go for the Optiq-V and add one or two desirable options, while still coming in way below the Lyriq-V's MSRP. You'd still be getting an extremely quick and very luxurious EV.

Aug 12 (Reuters) - Stock and crypto trading platform eToro's CEO said on Tuesday that retail investors seized opportunities to buy stocks during the April market dip caused by tariffs, after the fintech firm exceeded second-quarter profit estimates. Markets saw sharp swings after U.S. President Donald Trump announced new tariffs early in the quarter, yet analysts observed that individual investors were not deterred by the volatility and quickly sought opportunities to "buy the dip." "We saw a lot of our retail investors jumping in to scoop opportunities with Google, Nvidia and Tesla," eToro CEO Yoni Assia said in an interview with Reuters, referring to the sharp slide in high-growth big tech stocks following April's tariff announcements. "This reminds us of what we've seen in COVID, where institutional investors are pulling out of the markets and retail investors are taking that opportunity and investing." Trading in stocks has since normalized, executives said, sending the company's shares down 8%. Analysts said the stock's slide reflected high expectations ahead of the results. The company went public in May in a bumper U.S. initial public offering, with shares surging on their debut after pricing above the marketed range. "Today's initial eToro excitement gave way to a touch of disappointment," said Michael Ashley Schulman, partner and CIO at Running Point Capital Advisors. "Management admitted the April tariff‑shock uptick in trading activity faded by July, so the beat didn't come with a sustainably higher run‑rate." Financial technology companies have been expanding their crypto product portfolios as regulatory clarity emerges in the key U.S. market under the Trump administration. "Regulators all around the world are also looking at what regulators in the U.S. are doing and saying," Assia said. "They're providing very sort of clear messaging, which is, crypto is here to stay." He added that the company will eventually cater to more sophisticated users as its product expansion, including AI strategies, gathers pace, moving beyond its core retail trading roots. NEW research has established the rules of riding 'shotgun' in a car - and found the spouse of the driver should not automatically get the front seat. The phrase 'riding shotgun' stems from the American Wild West, when stagecoaches had an armed guard up front to fend off bandits. 2 In modern times, it means calling dibs on the front seat. And with 31 per cent of adults still calling shotgun to bag the front passenger seat, a study of 2,000 adults has now revealed the official rules that should be followed. Before the game even starts, it found anyone with physical needs overrides all other claims (22 per cent) - but aside from this, it's simply a case of the first person to call 'shotgun' gets the front seat (17 per cent). However, once you have bagged the front seat, your claim only lasts for one leg of the journey (11 per cent). And nine per cent believe you must be in view of the car to win. In the event of a stalemate, 12 per cent said tie breaks are sorted by the driver, and one in 20 (five per cent) select the winner by a quiz question. The study was commissioned by Tempcover, which has revealed the Official Rules of Shotgun and partnered with JLS star JB Gill ahead of the band's reunion tour, which will see him embarking on road trip adventures across the UK. JB, who is encouraging Brits to use the official shotgun rules to avoid any potential car squabbles, said: 'Calling shotgun before a car journey has sparked friendly competition over who gets to ride in the highly prized front seat for generations. "Ever since I first started driving, the front seat was always the one that every passenger wanted and as you can imagine, it's led to MANY heated debates. "Every driver has their own shotgun rules so having official rules in place means there's now a neutral way to make the decision and (hopefully) help the journey start smoothly from the off'. It also emerged that the middle seat in the back is the least preferred spot in the car. While the person who does get the front passenger seat should be prepared to make some sacrifices – by being on hand to act as navigator, and DJ – but should only play songs the whole car will enjoy. The light-hearted game often leads to disputes though, with 26 per cent admitting they have had an argument over the coveted position. With siblings (49 per cent) the most common opposition when it comes to bagging the front seat – however, 30 per cent have even had disputes with their children. Following the tension, 42 per cent admitted they have even refused to get in the car. The research, carried out via found 30 per cent have resorted to fabricating excuses to sit in the front – with the most common being to help the driver navigate. However, 28 per cent have used travel sickness as a ploy to get out of the back. Although for many, the rules of shotgun will be more applicable than ever, as 39 per cent prepare to embark on a summer road trip, and 36 per cent will be travelling with more than four people. Due to extra luggage and equipment, 17 per cent will be borrowing a bigger car for their summer activities. Marc Pell, managing director at Tempcover, which offers temporary car insurance so people can borrow a bigger car and take turns behind the wheel, added: 'With summer here, more people are taking to the road with friends and family. 'We asked people to share their ultimate shotgun wisdom to keep the rules simple and the process fair - helping car journeys start with fewer disputes over who gets the coveted front passenger seat with its better view and extra legroom.
