In the competition series' Season 41 premiere, 16 veterans are each paired with a rookie partner for a rough-and-tumble battle for all the glory. And with most of the early housekeeping having been taken care of in the Day Zero launch special, this episode hurls us directly into the season's first challenge, which sees players diving into a huge mud pit to collect balls worth varying degrees of points. The kicker? Partners are tied together and must move in tandem.
'The hardest part about this type of challenge is just making use of the area that you're in,' two-time winner Cara Maria Sorbello tells TVLine. 'You could be in a muddier area, a drier area. You might have to make your way around. And then you're tied to your partner. So when you're running down, you could be going for one thing, they could be going for the other thing. I thought Jake and I did incredibly well, so I was actually surprised when they counted the balls. I was like, 'What the heck?' I thought we crushed it, and then as soon as I come out and I look at everybody else's baskets and I'm like, 'Holy hell, how did they do this?' I heard people were kicking balls to each other, people were partnering up, so I don't know, it was a wild one. It was tough, but I like that. I like the type of challenges where you have to grind it out.'
This season, the Top 8 teams of each challenge will earn and accumulate points. The results of 'Mud Ball Madness' are as follows: Nia and Justin (came in 8th place, earned 1 point), Leroy and Sydney (7th place, 2 points), Ashley and Gabe (6th place, 3 points), Michaela and Will (5th place, 4 points), Olivia and Cedric (4th place, 5 points), Theo and Izzy (3rd place, 6 points), Aviv and Yeremi (2nd place, 7 points) and Bananas and Dee (1st place, 8 points). Bananas and Dee win safety, along with the power to save one team from elimination. As for Rogan and Adrienne, last place sends them directly into to the Arena. TJ flips a coin to determine whether it's going to be a male or female elimination, and unfortunately for Rogan, he's doomed to hit the sand. New threat Justin is then voted in to join him.
In 'Intertia,' players must maneuver a large hamster wheel-like contraption along a three-bump track. The first person to get down the track and back wins and stays in the game. But the elimination turns out to be a lot harder than it looks.
'Looking at what this is off the bat, I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, Justin doesn't stand a chance,'' says Sorbello. 'He's a little peanut in this hamster cage. All Rogan has to do is give one hard ram into it and he's a rugby player, you know? Game over. This thing's gonna flop around and he's got this in two seconds. And boy was I wrong!'
A totally spent Rogan doesn't have what it takes, and underestimated Cheer vet Justin wins the elimination and his Challenge stripes in one fell swoop.
'It took a really long time. It was really frustrating,' Sorbello continues. 'I know Rogan got gassed because I think Rogan was going for pure brutality and strength, and Justin didn't have that. So he had to be creative. He had gymnastics and he had cheerleading, and he started using a really good strategy and did it just the way it was supposed to be [done], and with a little flair too, to be honest.'

Meghan toasts to ‘beautiful day' as she launches new rose wine
The Duchess of Sussex has toasted to a 'beautiful day' to mark the launch of her latest rose wine. Meghan released her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2024 – described as evoking the same 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish' as the 2023 rose – on Tuesday. It comes after the previous rose, launched last month, sold out within an hour. In a video posted on her Instagram, Meghan can be seen uncorking a bottle marked 'Bottle #1' in front of bouquets of pink and cream flowers – followed by close-up of the cork bearing the As Ever logo. Alongside the clip, she wrote: 'Here we go! First bottle off the line! 'Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial.' As with the previous wine, the beverage is priced at more than £67 for a minimum three-bottle order – and only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. As Ever is Meghan's lifestyle brand which also sells cookie mix, herb tea, flower sprinkles and jams. A post on the company's Instagram show the corks branded with the As Ever logo, with a caption reading: 'C'est l'heure. 'Enjoy your last sips of summer with the newest vintage of our beloved Napa Valley rose.' The website describes the drink as 'thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex' and that it has been 'made to be enjoyed with the ones you love'. The pale pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5% – one percent lower than its predecessor. As with the 2023 rose, the newest wine is not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (around £67), six bottles cost 159 dollars (around £119) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (around £225) including a 17% discount. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy. Napa Valley wine country is in northern California, around 50 miles from San Francisco.

Liam Neeson Hilariously Mocked Paramount Execs Into Greenlighting THE NAKED GUN Reboot — GeekTyrant
The Naked Gun reboot may be winning over fans now, but it almost didn't happen. According to director Akiva Schaffer, Paramount wasn't immediately sold on the idea, even with Liam Neeson attached as the lead. So, how did it get the greenlight? Simple. Neeson roasted the Paramount execs in a hilarious test scene that left no room for doubt. Schaffer told Filmmaker Magazine: '[Liam Neeson's casting] was not quite enough for the studio for whatever reason, and they asked us to do a proof of concept.' To prove their vision, Schaffer and his team went scrappy. They threw together a five-minute mock sequence on the Paramount lot in an old warehouse filled with lighting equipment, turning it into a gritty noir-style set reminiscent of Beverly Hills Cop II . The scene mashed up parts from different bits in the script, including an interrogation with Kevin Durand and comedy pulled from the sequence with Busta Rhymes. But the mic-drop moment came at the end, when Neeson locked eyes with the camera and delivered a fourth-wall-breaking takedown that sealed the deal. 'There's that noir lighting on his face, and he says, 'That goes for you, too. Yes, you, the Paramount greenlight committee. I see you there. What the f*ck are you waiting for? Why don't you get your pencil pushers to sign [on] the line? 'I'll tell you what. Make sure they have a line item for adult diapers and cocaine in case one of you ever wants to visit set,' or something like that. He basically talks shit to them and leaves. And it worked!' Apparently, that ballsy scene was exactly the kind of chaos the studio needed to see. I would love to see that video, so hopefully it gets released one day! The final film delivers exactly what that proof-of-concept promised… a wild, ridiculous ride that pays loving tribute to the 1988 classic. Neeson steps into the spotlight as the son of Leslie Nielsen's iconic Frank Drebin. The new Naked Gun lineup includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Busta Rhymes, and Cody Rhodes, bringing a mix of comedy, action, and hilarious absurdity. The Naked Gun is in theaters now and is absolutely worth seeing if you're into this franchise!
