Maritime agency puts up RM1mil to develop Trong village
MMEA director-general Admiral (Maritime) Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah said the agency's efforts now extended beyond maritime security, with renewed focus on uplifting inland rural communities.
'Our role goes beyond safeguarding the seas.
'We are also committed to serving the people through community-based programmes and targeted outreach efforts,' he told Bernama.
The initiative, funded by the Finance Ministry, supports five key projects including repairs to the Sungai Tok Lin jetty, a vital economic lifeline for local fishermen.
Other improvements include roof repairs at Al-Mahmudiah religious school, upgrades at the flood relief centre in SK Temerlok, maintenance and repair works at Masjid Al-Mahmudiah as well as cleaning of the mosque grounds and the nearby Muslim cemetery.
The mosque also received two air-conditioning units, installed in its meeting room.
Mohd Rosli said the agency had previously donated three cows for Aidiladha, with meat distributed to 200 residents.
More than 150 MMEA personnel joined villagers in a gotong-royong to clean the village, mosque and cemetery.

ExP Realty Launches In Japan, Marking Fourth Global Market Entry In 2025
BELLINGHAM, Wash., July 28 (Bernama) -- eXp Realty®, the largest independent real estate brokerage in the world and a core subsidiary of eXp World Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXPI), today announced its official expansion into Japan, marking the company's fourth international launch of the year, following Peru, Türkiye, and Ecuador. "Agents in Japan have operated for years in a system that leaves little room for upside,' said Felix Bravo, Managing Director, International at eXp Realty. 'It's not about working harder, they already do. The problem is structural. Most models take too much and give too little in return. We're bringing a platform that flips that equation. Better economics, real ownership, worldwide leverage. That's what eXp is about.'
